1 G od is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.

To the Overseer. -- By sons of Korah. `For the Virgins.' -- A song. God to us a refuge and strength, A help in adversities found most surely.

2 T herefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

Therefore we fear not in the changing of earth, And in the slipping of mountains Into the heart of the seas.

3 T hough its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah

Roar -- troubled are its waters, Mountains they shake in its pride. Selah.

4 T here is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.

A river -- its rivulets rejoice the city of God, Thy holy place of the tabernacles of the Most High.

5 G od is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.

God in her midst -- she is not moved, God doth help her at the turn of the morn!

6 T he nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted.

Troubled have been nations, Moved have been kingdoms, He hath given forth with His voice, earth melteth.

7 T he Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

Jehovah of Hosts with us, A tower for us the God of Jacob. Selah.

8 C ome, behold the works of the Lord, Who has made desolations in the earth.

Come ye, see the works of Jehovah, Who hath done astonishing things in the earth,

9 H e makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.

Causing wars to cease, Unto the end of the earth, the bow he shivereth, And the spear He hath cut asunder, Chariots he doth burn with fire.

10 B e still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Desist, and know that I God, I am exalted among nations, I am exalted in the earth.

11 T he Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah
