1 T ruly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation.
To the Overseer, for Jeduthun. -- A Psalm of David. Only -- toward God my soul silent, From Him my salvation.
2 H e only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.
Only -- He my rock, and my salvation, My tower, I am not much moved.
3 H ow long will you attack a man? You shall be slain, all of you, Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence.
Till when do ye devise mischief against a man? Ye are destroyed all of you, As a wall inclined, a hedge that is cast down.
4 T hey only consult to cast him down from his high position; They delight in lies; They bless with their mouth, But they curse inwardly. Selah
Only -- from his excellency They have consulted to drive away, They enjoy a lie, with their mouth they bless, And with their heart revile. Selah.
5 M y soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him.
Only -- for God, be silent, O my soul, For from Him my hope.
6 H e only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved.
Only -- He my rock and my salvation, My tower, I am not moved.
7 I n God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God.
On God my salvation, and my honour, The rock of my strength, my refuge in God.
8 T rust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah
Trust in Him at all times, O people, Pour forth before Him your heart, God a refuge for us. Selah.
9 S urely men of low degree are a vapor, Men of high degree are a lie; If they are weighed on the scales, They are altogether lighter than vapor.
Only -- vanity the low, a lie the high. In balances to go up they than vanity lighter.
10 D o not trust in oppression, Nor vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, Do not set your heart on them.
Trust not in oppression, And in robbery become not vain, Wealth -- when it increaseth -- set not the heart.
11 G od has spoken once, Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God.
Once hath God spoken, twice I heard this, That `strength with God.'
12 A lso to You, O Lord, belongs mercy; For You render to each one according to his work.
And with Thee, O Lord, kindness, For Thou dost recompense to each, According to his work!
