1 T herefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved. Be United, Joyful, and in Prayer
So then, my brethren, beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand ye in the Lord, beloved.
2 I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord.
Euodia I exhort, and Syntyche I exhort, to be of the same mind in the Lord;
3 A nd I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.
and I ask also thee, genuine yoke-fellow, be assisting those women who in the good news did strive along with me, with Clement also, and the others, my fellow-workers, whose names in the book of life.
4 R ejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice;
5 L et your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
let your forbearance be known to all men; the Lord near;
6 B e anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
for nothing be anxious, but in everything by prayer, and by supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God;
7 a nd the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Meditate on These Things
and the peace of God, that is surpassing all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
8 F inally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
As to the rest, brethren, as many things as are true, as many as grave, as many as righteous, as many as pure, as many as lovely, as many as of good report, if any worthiness, and if any praise, these things think upon;
9 T he things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippian Generosity
the things that also ye did learn, and receive, and hear, and saw in me, those do, and the God of the peace shall be with you.
10 B ut I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity.
And I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at length ye flourished again in caring for me, for which also ye were caring, and lacked opportunity;
11 N ot that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:
not that in respect of want I say, for I did learn in the things in which I am -- to be content;
12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
I have known both to be abased, and I have known to abound; in everything and in all things I have been initiated, both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in want.
13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
For all things I have strength, in Christ's strengthening me;
14 N evertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress.
but ye did well, having communicated with my tribulation;
15 N ow you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only.
and ye have known, even ye Philippians, that in the beginning of the good news when I went forth from Macedonia, no assembly did communicate with me in regard to giving and receiving except ye only;
16 F or even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities.
because also in Thessalonica, both once and again to my need ye sent;
17 N ot that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.
not that I seek after the gift, but I seek after the fruit that is overflowing to your account;
18 I ndeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.
and I have all things, and abound; I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things from you -- an odour of a sweet smell -- a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God:
19 A nd my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
and my God shall supply all your need, according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus;
20 N ow to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. Greeting and Blessing
and to God, even our Father, the glory -- to the ages of the ages. Amen.
21 G reet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren who are with me greet you.
Salute ye every saint in Christ Jesus; there salute you the brethren with me;
22 A ll the saints greet you, but especially those who are of Caesar’s household.
there salute you all the saints, and specially those of Caesar's house;
23 T he grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
