1 O Lord, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure.
To the Overseer with stringed instruments, on the octave. -- A Psalm of David. O Jehovah, in Thine anger reprove me not, Nor in Thy fury chastise me.
2 H ave mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak; O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled.
Favour me, O Jehovah, for I weak, Heal me, O Jehovah, For troubled have been my bones,
3 M y soul also is greatly troubled; But You, O Lord —how long?
And my soul hath been troubled greatly, And Thou, O Jehovah, till when?
4 R eturn, O Lord, deliver me! Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake!
Turn back, O Jehovah, draw out my soul, Save me for Thy kindness' sake.
5 F or in death there is no remembrance of You; In the grave who will give You thanks?
For there is not in death Thy memorial, In Sheol, who doth give thanks to Thee?
6 I am weary with my groaning; All night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears.
I have been weary with my sighing, I meditate through all the night my bed, With my tear my couch I waste.
7 M y eye wastes away because of grief; It grows old because of all my enemies.
Old from provocation is mine eye, It is old because of all mine adversaries,
8 D epart from me, all you workers of iniquity; For the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping.
Turn from me all ye workers of iniquity, For Jehovah heard the voice of my weeping,
9 T he Lord has heard my supplication; The Lord will receive my prayer.
Jehovah hath heard my supplication, Jehovah my prayer receiveth.
10 L et all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled; Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly.
Ashamed and troubled greatly are all mine enemies, They turn back -- ashamed a moment!
