1 D avide disse: «Qui sarà la casa di Dio, del Signore, e qui sarà l’altare degli olocausti per Israele».

And David saith, `This is the house of Jehovah God, and this the altar for burnt-offering for Israel.'

2 D avide ordinò che si radunassero gli stranieri che erano nel paese d’Israele e incaricò gli scalpellini di lavorare le pietre da taglio per la costruzione della casa di Dio.

And David saith to gather the sojourners who in the land of Israel, and appointeth hewers to hew hewn-stones to build a house of God.

3 D avide preparò pure del ferro in abbondanza per i chiodi e per i battenti delle porte e per le spranghe, una quantità di bronzo di peso incalcolabile

And iron in abundance for nails for leaves of the gates, and for couplings, hath David prepared, and brass in abundance -- there is no weighing.

4 e del legname di cedro da non potersi contare; perché i Sidoni e i Tiri avevano portato a Davide legname di cedro in abbondanza.

And cedar-trees even without number, for the Zidonians and the Tyrians brought in cedar-trees in abundance to David.

5 D avide diceva: «Salomone, mio figlio, è giovane, di tenera età, e la casa che si deve costruire al Signore sarà talmente magnifica da acquistarsi fama e gloria in tutti i paesi; io voglio dunque fare dei preparativi per lui». Così Davide preparò materiale in abbondanza, prima di morire.

And David saith, `Solomon my son a youth and tender, and the house to be built to Jehovah to be made exceedingly great, for name and for beauty to all the lands; let me prepare, I pray Thee, for it;' and David prepareth in abundance before his death.

6 P oi chiamò Salomone, suo figlio, e gli ordinò di costruire una casa al Signore, Dio d’Israele.

And he calleth for Solomon his son, and chargeth him to build a house to Jehovah, God of Israel,

7 D avide disse a Salomone: «Figlio mio, io stesso avevo in cuore di costruire una casa al nome del Signore, del mio Dio;

and David saith to Solomon his son, `As for me, it hath been with my heart to build a house to the name of Jehovah my God,

8 m a la parola del Signore mi fu rivolta, e mi fu detto: “Tu hai sparso molto sangue e hai fatto grandi guerre; tu non costruirai una casa al mio nome, poiché hai sparso molto sangue sulla terra, davanti a me.

and the word of Jehovah against me, saying, Blood in abundance thou hast shed, and great wars thou hast made: thou dost not build a house to My name, for much blood thou hast shed to the earth before Me.

9 M a ecco, ti nascerà un figlio che sarà uomo di pace, e io gli darò tranquillità, liberandolo da tutti i suoi nemici circostanti. Salomone sarà il suo nome; io concederò pace e tranquillità a Israele durante la vita di lui.

`Lo, a son is born to thee; he is a man of rest, and I have given rest to him from all his enemies round about, for Solomon is his name, and peace and quietness I give unto Israel in his days;

10 E gli costruirà una casa al mio nome; egli mi sarà figlio e io gli sarò padre; e renderò stabile il trono del suo regno sopra Israele per sempre”.

he doth build a house to My name, and he is to Me for a son, and I to him for a father, and I have established the throne of his kingdom over Israel unto the age.

11 O ra, figlio mio, il Signore sia con te, perché tu prosperi e possa costruire la casa del Signore tuo Dio, secondo quanto egli ha detto di te.

`Now, my son, Jehovah is with thee, and thou hast prospered, and hast built the house of Jehovah thy God, as He spake concerning thee.

12 S olamente, il Signore ti dia senno e intelligenza e ti costituisca sopra Israele, per osservare la legge del Signore tuo Dio.

Only, Jehovah give to thee wisdom and understanding, and charge thee concerning Israel, even to keep the law of Jehovah thy God;

13 A llora prospererai, se ti applichi a mettere in pratica le leggi e i precetti che il Signore prescrisse a Mosè per Israele. Sii forte e coraggioso; non temere e non ti sgomentare.

then thou dost prosper, if thou dost observe to do the statutes and the judgments that Jehovah charged Moses with concerning Israel; be strong and courageous; do not fear, nor be cast down.

14 O ra ecco, io, con le mie fatiche, ho preparato per la casa del Signore centomila talenti d’oro, un milione di talenti d’argento e una quantità di bronzo e di ferro da non potersi pesare, tanto è abbondante; ho pure preparato legname e pietre; e tu ve ne potrai aggiungere ancora.

`And lo, in mine affliction, I have prepared for the house of Jehovah of gold talents a hundred thousand, and of silver a thousand thousand talents; and of brass and of iron there is no weighing, for in abundance it hath been, and wood and stones I have prepared, and to them thou dost add.

15 T u hai presso di te operai in abbondanza: scalpellini, muratori, falegnami e ogni sorta di uomini esperti in qualunque specie di lavoro.

`And with thee in abundance workmen, hewers and artificers of stone and of wood, and every skilful man for every work.

16 Q uanto all’oro, all’argento, al bronzo, al ferro, ce n’è una quantità incalcolabile. Àlzati dunque, mettiti all’opera, e il Signore sia con te».

To the gold, to the silver, and to the brass, and to the iron, there is no number; arise and do, and Jehovah is with thee.'

17 D avide ordinò pure a tutti i capi d’Israele di aiutare suo figlio Salomone, e disse loro:

And David giveth charge to all heads of Israel to give help to Solomon his son,

18 « Il Signore vostro Dio non è forse con voi, e non vi ha dato tranquillità tutto intorno? Infatti egli mi ha dato nelle mani gli abitanti del paese, e il paese è assoggettato al Signore e al suo popolo.

`Is not Jehovah your God with you? yea, He hath given rest to you round about, for He hath given into my hand the inhabitants of the land, and subdued hath been the land before His people.

19 D isponete dunque il vostro cuore e l’anima vostra a cercare il Signore vostro Dio; poi alzatevi e costruite il santuario di Dio, il Signore, per trasferire l’arca del patto del Signore e gli utensili consacrati a Dio nella casa che dev’essere costruita al nome del Signore ».

`Now, give your heart and your soul to seek to Jehovah your God, and rise and build the sanctuary of Jehovah God, to bring in the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and the holy vessels of God, to the house that is built to the name of Jehovah.'
