1 Q uando l’Agnello aprì il settimo sigillo, si fece silenzio nel cielo per circa mezz’ora.

And when he openeth the seventh seal, there came silence in the heaven about half-an-hour,

2 P oi vidi i sette angeli che stanno in piedi davanti a Dio, e furono date loro sette trombe.

and I saw the seven messengers who before God have stood, and there were given to them seven trumpets,

3 E venne un altro angelo con un incensiere d’oro; si fermò presso l’altare e gli furono dati molti profumi affinché li offrisse con le preghiere di tutti i santi sull’altare d’oro posto davanti al trono.

and another messenger did come, and he stood at the altar, having a golden censer, and there was given to him much perfume, that he may give to the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar that before the throne,

4 E dalla mano dell’angelo il fumo dei profumi salì davanti a Dio, insieme alle preghiere dei santi.

and go up did the smoke of the perfumes to the prayers of the saints out of the hand of the messenger, before God;

5 P oi l’angelo prese l’incensiere, lo riempì del fuoco dell’altare e lo gettò sulla terra, e ci furono tuoni, voci, lampi e un terremoto. Le prime sei trombe

and the messenger took the censer, and did fill it out of the fire of the altar, and did cast to the earth, and there came voices, and thunders, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

6 I sette angeli che avevano le sette trombe si prepararono a suonare.

And the seven messengers who are having the seven trumpets did prepare themselves that they may sound;

7 I l primo suonò la tromba, e grandine e fuoco, mescolati con sangue, furono scagliati sulla terra. E fu bruciato un terzo della terra, un terzo degli alberi ed ogni erba verde.

and the first messenger did sound, and there came hail and fire, mingled with blood, and it was cast to the land, and the third of the trees was burnt up, and all the green grass was burnt up.

8 P oi il secondo angelo suonò la tromba, e una massa simile a una grande montagna ardente fu gettata nel mare. Un terzo del mare diventò sangue,

And the second messenger did sound, and as it were a great mountain with fire burning was cast into the sea, and the third of the sea became blood,

9 u n terzo delle creature viventi che erano nel mare morì e un terzo delle navi andò distrutto.

and die did the third of the creatures that in the sea, those having life, and the third of the ships were destroyed.

10 P oi il terzo angelo suonò la tromba, e dal cielo cadde una grande stella, ardente come una torcia, che piombò su un terzo dei fiumi e sulle sorgenti delle acque.

And the third messenger did sound, and there fell out of the heaven a great star, burning as a lamp, and it did fall upon the third of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters,

11 I l nome della stella è Assenzio; e un terzo delle acque diventò assenzio. Molti uomini morirono a causa di quelle acque, perché erano diventate amare.

and the name of the star is called Wormwood, and the third of the waters doth become wormwood, and many of the men did die of the waters, because they were made bitter.

12 P oi il quarto angelo suonò la tromba, e fu colpito un terzo del sole, della luna e delle stelle: un terzo della loro luce si spense e il chiarore del giorno, come quello della notte, diminuì di un terzo.

And the fourth messenger did sound, and smitten was the third of the sun, and the third of the moon, and the third of the stars, that darkened may be the third of them, and that the day may not shine -- the third of it, and the night in like manner.

13 G uardai, e udii un’aquila che volava in mezzo al cielo e diceva a gran voce: «Guai, guai, guai agli abitanti della terra, a causa degli altri suoni di tromba che i tre angeli stanno per suonare!»

And I saw, and I heard one messenger, flying in the mid-heaven, saying with a great voice, `Wo, wo, wo, to those dwelling upon the land from the rest of the voices of the trumpet of the three messengers who are about to sound.'
