1 E sultate, o giusti, nel Signore; la lode si addice agli uomini retti.

Sing, ye righteous, in Jehovah, For upright ones praise comely.

2 C elebrate il Signore con la cetra; salmeggiate a lui con il saltèrio a dieci corde.

Give ye thanks to Jehovah with a harp, With psaltery of ten strings sing praise to Him,

3 C antategli un cantico nuovo, suonate bene e con gioia.

Sing ye to Him a new song, Play skilfully with shouting.

4 P oiché la parola del Signore è retta e tutta l’opera sua è fatta con fedeltà.

For upright the word of Jehovah, And all His work in faithfulness.

5 E gli ama la giustizia e l’equità; la terra è piena della benevolenza del Signore.

Loving righteousness and judgment, Of the kindness of Jehovah is the earth full.

6 I cieli furono fatti dalla parola del Signore, e tutto il loro esercito dal soffio della sua bocca.

By the word of Jehovah The heavens have been made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host.

7 E gli ammassò le acque del mare come in un mucchio; rinchiuse gli oceani in serbatoi.

Gathering as a heap the waters of the sea, Putting in treasuries the depths.

8 T utta la terra tema il Signore; davanti a lui abbiano timore tutti gli abitanti del mondo.

Afraid of Jehovah are all the earth, Of Him are all the inhabitants of the world afraid.

9 P oiché egli parlò, e la cosa fu; egli comandò, e la cosa apparve.

For He hath said, and it is, He hath commanded, and it standeth.

10 I l Signore rende vano il volere delle nazioni, egli annulla i disegni dei popoli.

Jehovah made void the counsel of nations, He disallowed the thoughts of the peoples.

11 L a volontà del Signore sussiste per sempre, i disegni del suo cuore durano d’età in età.

The counsel of Jehovah to the age standeth, The thoughts of His heart to all generations.

12 B eata la nazione il cui Dio è il Signore; beato il popolo che egli ha scelto per sua eredità.

O the happiness of the nation whose God Jehovah, Of the people He did choose, For an inheritance to Him.

13 I l Signore guarda dal cielo; egli vede tutti i figli degli uomini;

From the heavens hath Jehovah looked, He hath seen all the sons of men.

14 d al luogo della sua dimora osserva tutti gli abitanti della terra.

From the fixed place of His dwelling, He looked unto all inhabitants of the earth;

15 E gli ha formato il cuore di tutti, egli osserva tutte le loro opere.

Who is forming their hearts together, Who is attending unto all their works.

16 I l re non è salvato da un grande esercito; il prode non scampa per la sua gran forza.

The king is not saved by the multitude of a force. A mighty man is not delivered, By abundance of power.

17 I l cavallo è incapace di salvare, esso non può liberare nessuno con il suo gran vigore.

A false thing the horse for safety, And by the abundance of his strength He doth not deliver.

18 E cco, l’occhio del Signore è su quelli che lo temono, su quelli che sperano nella sua benevolenza,

Lo, the eye of Jehovah to those fearing Him, To those waiting for His kindness,

19 p er liberarli dalla morte e conservarli in vita in tempo di fame.

To deliver from death their soul, And to keep them alive in famine.

20 N oi aspettiamo il Signore; egli è il nostro aiuto e il nostro scudo.

Our soul hath waited for Jehovah, Our help and our shield He,

21 I n lui, certo, si rallegrerà il nostro cuore, perché abbiamo confidato nel suo santo nome.

For in Him doth our heart rejoice, For in His holy name we have trusted.

22 L a tua benevolenza, o Signore, sia sopra di noi, poiché abbiamo sperato in te.

Let Thy kindness, O Jehovah, be upon us, As we have waited for Thee!
