1 A lleluia. Beato l’uomo che teme il Signore e trova grande gioia nei suoi comandamenti.

Praise ye Jah! O the happiness of one fearing Jehovah, In His commands he hath delighted greatly.

2 P otente sulla terra sarà la sua discendenza; la stirpe degli uomini retti sarà benedetta.

Mighty in the earth is his seed, The generation of the upright is blessed.

3 A bbondanza e ricchezze sono in casa sua e la sua giustizia dura per sempre.

Wealth and riches in his house, And his righteousness is standing for ever.

4 L a luce spunta nelle tenebre per gli onesti, per chi è misericordioso, pietoso e giusto.

Light hath risen in darkness to the upright, Gracious, and merciful, and righteous.

5 F elice l’uomo che ha compassione, dà in prestito e amministra i suoi affari con giustizia,

Good the man -- gracious and lending, He sustaineth his matters in judgment.

6 p erché non vacillerà mai; il giusto sarà ricordato per sempre.

For -- to the age he is not moved; For a memorial age-during is the righteous.

7 E gli non temerà cattive notizie; il suo cuore è saldo, fiducioso nel Signore.

Of an evil report he is not afraid, Prepared is His heart, confident in Jehovah.

8 I l suo cuore è tenace, privo di paure, e alla fine vedrà sui suoi nemici quanto desidera.

Sustained is his heart -- he feareth not, Till that he look on his adversaries.

9 E gli ha dato generosamente ai bisognosi; la sua giustizia dura per sempre e la sua fronte si alza gloriosa.

He hath scattered -- hath given to the needy, His righteousness is standing for ever, His horn is exalted with honour.

10 L ’empio lo vede, si irrita, digrigna i denti e si consuma; il desiderio degli empi non potrà mai avverarsi.

The wicked seeth, and hath been angry, His teeth he gnasheth, and hath melted, The desire of the wicked doth perish!
