1 P oi Salomone costruì il suo palazzo, e lo terminò interamente in tredici anni.

And his own house hath Solomon built thirteen years, and he finisheth all his house.

2 C ostruì la casa detta «Foresta del Libano»; era di cento cubiti di lunghezza, di cinquanta di larghezza e di trenta d’altezza. Era basata su quattro ordini di colonne di cedro sulle quali poggiava una travatura di cedro.

And he buildeth the house of the forest of Lebanon; a hundred cubits its length, and fifty cubits its breadth, and thirty cubits its height, on four rows of cedar pillars, and cedar-beams on the pillars;

3 U n soffitto di cedro copriva le camere che poggiavano sulle quarantacinque colonne, quindici per fila.

and covered with cedar above, on the sides that on the forty and five pillars, fifteen in the row.

4 C ’erano tre file di camere, le cui finestre si trovavano le une di fronte alle altre lungo tutte e tre le file.

And windows in three rows, and sight over-against sight three times.

5 T utte le porte con i loro stipiti e architravi erano quadrangolari. Le finestre delle tre file di camere si trovavano le une di fronte alle altre, in tutti e tre gli ordini.

And all the openings and the side-posts square -- windows; and sight over-against sight three times.

6 F ece pure il portico a colonne, che aveva cinquanta cubiti di lunghezza e trenta di larghezza, con un vestibolo davanti, delle colonne e una scalinata sul davanti.

And the porch of the pillars he hath made; fifty cubits its length, and thirty cubits its breadth, and the porch before them, and pillars and a thick place before them.

7 P oi fece il portico del trono dove amministrava la giustizia, che fu chiamato «Portico del giudizio»; lo ricoprì di legno di cedro dal pavimento al soffitto.

And the porch of the throne where he judgeth -- the porch of judgment -- he hath made, and covered with cedar from the floor unto the floor.

8 L a sua casa, dove abitava, fu costruita nello stesso modo, in un altro cortile, dietro il portico. Fece una casa dello stesso stile di questo portico per la figlia del faraone, che egli aveva sposata.

As to his house where he dwelleth, the other court within the porch -- as this work it hath been; and a house he maketh for the daughter of Pharaoh -- whom Solomon hath taken -- like this porch.

9 T utte queste costruzioni erano di pietre scelte, tagliate a misura, segate, internamente ed esternamente, dalle fondamenta ai cornicioni, e al di fuori sino al cortile maggiore.

All these of precious stone, according to the measures of hewn work, sawn with a saw, within and without, even from the foundation unto the coping, and at the outside, unto the great court.

10 A nche le fondamenta erano di pietre scelte, grandi: pietre di dieci cubiti e pietre di otto cubiti.

And the foundation of precious stone, great stones, stones of ten cubits, and stones of eight cubits;

11 S opra di esse c’erano delle pietre scelte, tagliate a misura, e del legname di cedro.

and above precious stone, according to the measures of hewn work, and cedar;

12 I l gran cortile aveva tutto intorno tre ordini di pietre lavorate e un ordine di travi di cedro, come il cortile interno della casa del Signore e come il portico della casa. Le due colonne di bronzo

and the great court round about three rows of hewn work, and a row of cedar-beams, even for the inner court of the house of Jehovah, and for the porch of the house.

13 I l re Salomone fece venire da Tiro Chiram,

And king Solomon sendeth and taketh Hiram out of Tyre --

14 f iglio di una vedova della tribù di Neftali; suo padre era di Tiro. Egli lavorava il bronzo, era pieno di saggezza, d’intelletto e di abilità per eseguire qualunque lavoro in bronzo. Egli si recò dal re Salomone ed eseguì tutti i lavori da lui ordinati.

he son of a woman, a widow, of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father a man of Tyre, a worker in brass, and he is filled with the wisdom and the understanding, and the knowledge to do all work in brass -- and he cometh unto king Solomon, and doth all his work.

15 F ece le due colonne di bronzo. La prima aveva diciotto cubiti d’altezza, e una corda di dodici cubiti misurava la circonferenza della seconda.

And he formeth the two pillars of brass; eighteen cubits the height of the one pillar, and a cord of twelve cubits doth compass the second pillar.

16 F use due capitelli di bronzo, per metterli in cima alle colonne; l’uno aveva cinque cubiti d’altezza e l’altro cinque cubiti d’altezza.

And two chapiters he hath made to put on the tops of the pillars, cast in brass; five cubits the height of the one chapiter, and five cubits the height of the second chapiter.

17 F ece un reticolato, un lavoro d’intreccio, dei festoni a forma di catenelle, per i capitelli che erano in cima alle colonne: sette per il primo capitello e sette per il secondo.

Nets of net-work, wreaths of chain-work for the chapiters that on the top of the pillars, seven for the one chapiter, and seven for the second chapiter.

18 F ece due ordini di melagrane attorno all’uno di quei reticolati, per coprire il capitello che era in cima a una delle colonne; e lo stesso fece per l’altro capitello.

And he maketh the pillars, and two rows round about on the one net-work, to cover the chapiters that on the top, with the pomegranates, and so he hath made for the second chapiter.

19 I capitelli, che erano in cima alle colonne nel portico, erano fatti a forma di giglio, ed erano di quattro cubiti.

And the chapiters that on the top of the pillars of lily-work in the porch, four cubits;

20 I capitelli posti sulle due colonne erano circondati da duecento melagrane, in alto, vicino alla sporgenza che era al di là del reticolato; c’erano duecento melagrane disposte attorno al primo, e duecento intorno al secondo capitello.

and the chapiters on the two pillars also above, over-against the protuberance that beside the net; and the pomegranates two hundred, in rows round about on the second chapiter.

21 E gli rizzò le colonne nel portico del tempio; rizzò la colonna a destra, e la chiamò Iachim; poi rizzò la colonna a sinistra, e la chiamò Boaz.

And he raiseth up the pillars for the porch of the temple, and he raiseth up the right pillar, and calleth its name Jachin, and he raiseth up the left pillar, and calleth its name Boaz;

22 I n cima alle colonne c’era un lavoro fatto a forma di giglio. Così fu compiuto il lavoro delle colonne. Il Mare di bronzo

and on the top of the pillars lily-work; and the work of the pillars completed.

23 P oi fece il Mare di metallo fuso, che aveva dieci cubiti da un orlo all’altro; era di forma perfettamente rotonda, aveva cinque cubiti d’altezza, e una corda di trenta cubiti ne misurava la circonferenza.

And he maketh the molten sea, ten by the cubit from its edge unto its edge; round all about, and five by the cubit its height, and a line of thirty by the cubit doth compass it round about;

24 S otto l’orlo lo circondavano dei frutti di colloquintide, dieci per cubito, facendo tutto il giro del Mare; i frutti di colloquintide, disposti in due ordini, erano stati fusi insieme con il Mare.

and knops beneath its brim round about are compassing it, ten by the cubit, going round the sea round about; in two rows the knops, cast in its being cast.

25 Q uesto poggiava su dodici buoi, dei quali tre guardavano a settentrione, tre a occidente, tre a meridione e tre a oriente; il Mare stava su di essi e le parti posteriori dei buoi erano volte verso il centro.

It is standing on twelve oxen, three facing the north, and three facing the west, and three facing the south, and three facing the east, and the sea upon them above, and all their hinder parts inward.

26 E sso aveva lo spessore di un palmo; il suo orlo, fatto come l’orlo di una coppa, aveva la forma di un fiore di giglio. Il Mare conteneva duemila bati. Le basi di bronzo

And its thickness an handbreadth, and its edge as the work of the edge of a cup, flowers of lilies; two thousand baths it containeth.

27 F ece pure le dieci basi di bronzo; ciascuna aveva quattro cubiti di lunghezza, quattro cubiti di larghezza e tre cubiti d’altezza.

And he maketh the ten bases of brass; four by the cubit the length of the one base, and four by the cubit its breadth, and three by the cubit its height.

28 I l lavoro delle basi consisteva in questo. Erano formate da riquadri, tenuti assieme per mezzo di sostegni.

And this the work of the base: they have borders, and the borders between the joinings;

29 S opra i riquadri, fra i sostegni, c’erano dei leoni, dei buoi e dei cherubini; lo stesso sui sostegni superiori; ma sui sostegni inferiori, sotto i leoni e i buoi, c’erano delle ghirlande a festoni.

and on the borders that between the joinings lions, oxen, and cherubs, and on the joinings a base above, and beneath the lions and the oxen additions -- sloping work.

30 O gni base aveva quattro ruote di bronzo con gli assi di bronzo; ai quattro angoli c’erano delle mensole, sotto il bacino; queste mensole erano di metallo fuso; di fronte a ciascuna stavano delle ghirlande.

And four wheels of brass to the one base, and axles of brass; and its four corners have shoulders -- under the laver the molten shoulders, beside each addition.

31 A l coronamento della base, nell’interno, c’era un’apertura in cui si adattava il bacino; essa aveva un cubito d’altezza, era rotonda, della forma di una base di colonna, e aveva un cubito e mezzo di diametro; anche lì c’erano delle sculture. I riquadri erano quadrati e non circolari.

And its mouth within the chapiter and above by the cubit, and its mouth round, the work of the base, a cubit and half a cubit; and also on its mouth carvings and their borders, square, not round.

32 L e quattro ruote erano sotto i riquadri, gli assi delle ruote erano fissati alla base, e l’altezza di ogni ruota era di un cubito e mezzo.

And the four wheels under the borders, and the spokes of the wheels in the base, and the height of the one wheel a cubit and half a cubit.

33 L e ruote erano fatte come quelle di un carro. I loro assi, i loro quarti, i loro raggi, i loro mòzzi erano di metallo fuso.

And the work of the wheels as the work of the wheel of a chariot, their spokes, and their axles, and their felloes, and their naves; the whole molten.

34 A i quattro angoli di ogni base c’erano quattro mensole d’un medesimo pezzo con la base.

And four shoulders unto the four corners of the one base; out of the base its shoulders.

35 L a parte superiore della base terminava con un cerchio di mezzo cubito d’altezza, e aveva i suoi sostegni e i suoi riquadri tutti d’un pezzo con la base.

And in the top of the base the half of a cubit in the height all round about; and on the top of the base its spokes and its borders of the same.

36 S ulla parte liscia dei sostegni e sui riquadri Chiram scolpì dei cherubini, dei leoni e delle palme, secondo gli spazi liberi, e delle ghirlande tutto intorno.

And he openeth on the tablets of its spokes, and on its borders, cherubs, lions, and palm-trees, according to the void space of each, and additions round about.

37 C osì fece le dieci basi; la fusione, la misura e la forma erano le stesse per tutte.

Thus he hath made the ten bases; one casting, one measure, one form, have they all.

38 P oi fece le dieci conche di bronzo, ciascuna delle quali conteneva quaranta bati ed era di quattro cubiti; ogni conca posava sopra una delle dieci basi.

And he maketh ten lavers of brass; forty baths doth the one laver contain, four by the cubit the one laver, one laver on the one base to the ten bases;

39 E gli collocò le basi così: cinque al lato destro della casa e cinque al lato sinistro. Mise il Mare al lato destro della casa, verso sud-est.

and he putteth the five bases on the right side of the house, and five on the left side of the house, and the sea he hath put on the right side of the house, eastward -- over-against the south.

40 C hiram fece pure i vasi per le ceneri, le palette e le bacinelle.

And Hiram maketh the lavers, and the shovels, and the bowls; and Hiram completeth to do all the work that he made for king Solomon, the house of Jehovah;

41 C osì Chiram compì tutta l’opera richiesta dal re Salomone per la casa del Signore: le due colonne, le volute dei capitelli in cima alle colonne, i due reticolati per coprire le due volute dei capitelli in cima alle colonne,

pillars two, and bowls of the chapiters that on the top of the pillars two, and the nets two, to cover the two bowls of the chapiters that on the top of the pillars;

42 l e quattrocento melagrane per i due reticolati, a due ordini di melagrane per ogni reticolato, che coprivano le due volute dei capitelli in cima alle colonne,

and the pomegranates four hundred for the two nets, two rows of pomegranates for the one net, to cover the two bowls of the chapiters that on the front of the pillars;

43 l e dieci basi, le dieci conche sulle basi,

and the ten bases, and the ten lavers on the bases;

44 i l Mare, che era unico, e i dodici buoi sotto il Mare,

and the one sea, the twelve oxen under the sea,

45 i vasi per le ceneri, le palette e le bacinelle. Tutti questi utensili, che Chiram fece a Salomone per la casa del Signore, erano di bronzo lucido.

and the pots, and the shovels, and the bowls; and all these vessels, that Hiram hath made to king Solomon the house of Jehovah, of brass -- polished.

46 I l re li fece fondere nella pianura del Giordano, in un suolo argilloso, tra Succot e Sartan.

In the circuit of the Jordan hath the king cast them, in the thick soil of the ground, between Succoth and Zarthan.

47 S alomone lasciò tutti questi utensili senza verificare il peso del bronzo, perché erano in grandissima quantità.

And Solomon placeth the whole of the vessels; because of the very great abundance, the weight of the brass hath not been searched out.

48 S alomone fece fabbricare tutti gli arredi della casa del Signore: l’altare d’oro, la tavola d’oro sulla quale si mettevano i pani della presentazione;

And Solomon maketh all the vessels that in the house of Jehovah: the altar of gold, and the table -- on which the bread of the Presence -- of gold,

49 i candelabri d’oro puro, cinque a destra e cinque a sinistra, davanti al santuario, con i fiori, le lampade e gli smoccolatoi, d’oro;

and the candlesticks, five on the right, and five on the left, before the oracle, of refined gold, and the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs, of gold,

50 l e coppe, i coltelli, le bacinelle, i cucchiai e i bracieri, d’oro fino; e i cardini d’oro per la porta interna della casa all’ingresso del luogo santissimo e per la porta della casa all’ingresso del tempio.

and the basins, and the snuffers, and the bowls, and the spoons, and the censers, of refined gold, and the hinges for the doors of the inner-house, for the holy of holies, for the doors of the house of the temple, of gold.

51 C osì fu compiuta tutta l’opera che il re Salomone fece eseguire per la casa del Signore. Poi Salomone fece portare l’argento, l’oro e gli utensili che Davide suo padre aveva consacrati, e li mise nei tesori della casa del Signore.

And it is complete -- all the work that king Solomon hath made the house of Jehovah, and Solomon bringeth in the sanctified things of David his father; the silver, and the gold, and the vessels he hath put in the treasuries of the house of Jehovah.
