1 I l Signore regna; esulti la terra e gioiscano le numerose isole.

Jehovah hath reigned, The earth is joyful, many isles rejoice.

2 N uvole e oscurità lo circondano; giustizia ed equità sono le basi del suo trono.

Cloud and darkness round about Him, Righteousness and judgment the basis of His throne.

3 U n fuoco lo precede e consuma i suoi nemici tutt’intorno.

Fire before Him goeth, And burneth round about His adversaries.

4 I suoi lampi illuminano il mondo; la terra lo vede e trema.

Lightened have His lightnings the world, The earth hath seen, and is pained.

5 I monti si sciolgono come cera davanti al Signore, davanti al Signore di tutta la terra.

Hills, like wax, melted before Jehovah, Before the Lord of all the earth.

6 I cieli annunciano la sua giustizia e tutti i popoli vedono la sua gloria.

The heavens declared His righteousness, And all the peoples have seen His honour.

7 S ono confusi gli adoratori di immagini e quanti si vantano degli idoli; si prostrano a lui tutti gli dèi.

Ashamed are all servants of a graven image, Those boasting themselves in idols, Bow yourselves to him, all ye gods.

8 S ion ascolta e ne gioisce; esultano le figlie di Giuda per i tuoi giudizi, o Signore!

Zion hath heard and rejoiceth, And daughters of Judah are joyful, Because of Thy judgments, O Jehovah.

9 P oiché tu, Signore, sei l’Altissimo su tutta la terra; tu sei molto più in alto di tutti gli dèi.

For Thou, Jehovah, Most High over all the earth, Greatly Thou hast been exalted over all gods.

10 V oi che amate il Signore, odiate il male! Egli custodisce le anime dei suoi fedeli, li libera dalla mano degli empi.

Ye who love Jehovah, hate evil, He is keeping the souls of His saints, From the hand of the wicked he delivereth them.

11 L a luce è spuntata per il giusto, e la gioia per i retti di cuore.

Light sown for the righteous, And for the upright of heart -- joy.

12 G ioite nel Signore, giusti, e lodate il suo santo nome!

Rejoice, ye righteous, in Jehovah, And give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness!
