1 A llora udii dal tempio una gran voce che diceva ai sette angeli: «Andate e versate sulla terra le sette coppe dell’ira di Dio».

And I heard a great voice out of the sanctuary saying to the seven messengers, `Go away, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God to the earth;'

2 I l primo andò e versò la sua coppa sulla terra; e un’ulcera maligna e dolorosa colpì gli uomini che avevano il marchio della bestia e che adoravano la sua immagine.

and the first did go away, and did pour out his vial upon the land, and there came a sore -- bad and grievous -- to men, those having the mark of the beast, and those bowing to his image.

3 P oi il secondo versò la sua coppa nel mare; esso divenne sangue simile a quello di un morto, e ogni essere vivente che si trovava nel mare morì.

And the second messenger did pour out his vial to the sea, and there came blood as of dead, and every living soul died in the sea.

4 P oi il terzo versò la sua coppa nei fiumi e nelle sorgenti delle acque; e diventarono sangue.

And the third messenger did pour out his vial to the rivers, and to the fountains of the waters, and there came blood,

5 U dii l’angelo delle acque che diceva: «Sei giusto, tu che sei e che eri, tu, il Santo, per aver così giudicato.

and I heard the messenger of the waters, saying, `righteous, O Lord, art Thou, who art, and who wast, and who shalt be, because these things Thou didst judge,

6 E ssi infatti hanno versato il sangue dei santi e dei profeti, e tu hai dato loro sangue da bere; è quello che meritano ».

because blood of saints and prophets they did pour out, and blood to them Thou didst give to drink, for they are worthy;'

7 E udii l’altare che diceva: «Sì, o Signore, Dio onnipotente, veritieri e giusti sono i tuoi giudizi».

and I heard another out of the altar, saying, `Yes, Lord God, the Almighty, true and righteous Thy judgments.'

8 P oi il quarto versò la sua coppa sul sole e al sole fu concesso di bruciare gli uomini con il fuoco.

And the fourth messenger did pour out his vial upon the sun, and there was given to him to scorch men with fire,

9 E gli uomini furono bruciati dal gran calore; e bestemmiarono il nome di Dio che ha il potere su questi flagelli, e non si ravvidero per dargli gloria.

and men were scorched with great heat, and they did speak evil of the name of God, who hath authority over these plagues, and they did not reform -- to give to Him glory.

10 P oi il quinto versò la sua coppa sul trono della bestia. Il suo regno fu avvolto dalle tenebre. Gli uomini si mordevano la lingua per il dolore,

And the fifth messenger did pour out his vial upon the throne of the beast, and his kingdom did become darkened, and they were gnawing their tongues from the pain,

11 e bestemmiarono il Dio del cielo a causa dei loro dolori e delle loro ulcere, ma non si ravvidero dalle loro opere.

and they did speak evil of the God of the heaven, from their pains, and from their sores, and they did not reform from their works.

12 P oi il sesto versò la sua coppa sul gran fiume Eufrate, e le sue acque si prosciugarono perché fosse preparata la via ai re che vengono dall’Oriente.

And the sixth messenger did pour out his vial upon the great river, the Euphrates, and dried up was its water, that the way of the kings who are from the rising of the sun may be made ready;

13 E vidi uscire dalla bocca del dragone, da quella della bestia e da quella del falso profeta tre spiriti immondi, simili a rane.

and I saw out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs --

14 E ssi sono spiriti di demòni capaci di compiere dei miracoli. Essi vanno dai re del mondo intero per radunarli per la battaglia del gran giorno del Dio onnipotente.

for they are spirits of demons, doing signs -- which go forth unto the kings of the earth, and of the whole world, to bring them together to the battle of that great day of God the Almighty; --

15 ( Ecco, io vengo come un ladro; beato chi veglia e custodisce le sue vesti perché non cammini nudo e non si veda la sua vergogna).

`lo, I do come as a thief; happy he who is watching, and keeping his garments, that he may not walk naked, and they may see his unseemliness,' --

16 E radunarono i re nel luogo che in ebraico si chiama Harmaghedon.

and they did bring them together to the place that is called in Hebrew Armageddon.

17 P oi il settimo versò la sua coppa nell’aria; e dal tempio uscì una gran voce proveniente dal trono, che diceva: «È fatto».

And the seventh messenger did pour out his vial to the air, and there came forth a great voice from the sanctuary of the heaven, from the throne, saying, `It hath come!'

18 E ci furono lampi, voci, tuoni e un terremoto così forte che da quando l’uomo è sulla terra non se n’è avuto uno altrettanto disastroso.

and there came voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and a great earthquake came, such as came not since men came upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake -- so great!

19 L a grande città si divise in tre parti e le città delle nazioni crollarono, e Dio si ricordò di Babilonia la grande per darle la coppa del vino della sua ira ardente.

And it came -- the great city -- into three parts, and the cities of the nations did fall, and Babylon the great was remembered before God, to give to her the cup of the wine of the wrath of His anger,

20 O gni isola scomparve e i monti non furono più trovati.

and every island did flee away, and mountains were not found,

21 E cadde dal cielo sugli uomini una grandine enorme, con chicchi del peso di circa un talento; gli uomini bestemmiarono Dio a causa della grandine, perché era un terribile flagello.

and great hail (as of talent weight) doth come down out of the heaven upon men, and men did speak evil of God because of the plague of the hail, because its plague is very great.
