1 I n quello stesso anno, al principio del regno di Sedechia, re di Giuda, l’anno quarto, il quinto mese, Anania, figlio di Azzur, profeta, nativo di Gabaon, mi parlò nella casa del Signore, in presenza dei sacerdoti e di tutto il popolo, dicendo:

And it cometh to pass, in that year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, spoken unto me hath Hananiah son of Azur the prophet, who of Gibeon, in the house of Jehovah, before the eyes of the priests, and all the people, saying,

2 « Così parla il Signore degli eserciti, Dio d’Israele: “Io spezzo il giogo del re di Babilonia.

`Thus spake Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon;

3 E ntro due anni io farò tornare in questo luogo tutti gli arredi della casa del Signore che Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, ha tolti da questo luogo e ha portati a Babilonia;

Within two years of days I am bringing back unto this place all the vessels of the house of Jehovah that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon hath taken from this place, and doth carry to Babylon,

4 r icondurrò in questo luogo”, dice il Signore, “Ieconia, figlio di Ioiachim, re di Giuda, e tutti quelli di Giuda che sono deportati a Babilonia; perché spezzerò il giogo del re di Babilonia”».

And Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the removed of Judah, who are entering Babylon, I am bringing back unto this place -- an affirmation of Jehovah; for I do break the yoke of the king of Babylon.'

5 I l profeta Geremia rispose al profeta Anania in presenza dei sacerdoti e in presenza di tutto il popolo che si trovava nella casa del Signore.

And Jeremiah the prophet saith unto Hananiah the prophet, before the eyes of the priests, and before the eyes of all the people who are standing in the house of Jehovah,

6 I l profeta Geremia disse: «Amen! Così faccia il Signore! Il Signore mandi ad effetto ciò che tu hai profetizzato, faccia tornare da Babilonia in questo luogo gli arredi della casa del Signore e tutti quelli che sono stati condotti in esilio!

Yea, Jeremiah the prophet saith, `Amen! so may Jehovah do; Jehovah establish thy words that thou hast prophesied, to bring back the vessels of the house of Jehovah and all the removal from Babylon, unto this place.

7 P erò ascolta ora questa parola che io pronuncio in presenza tua e in presenza di tutto il popolo.

`Only, hear, I pray thee, this word that I am speaking in thine ears, and in the ears of all the people.

8 I profeti che apparvero prima di me e prima di te, fin dai tempi antichi, profetizzarono contro molti paesi e contro grandi regni la guerra, la fame, la peste.

The prophets who have been before me, and before thee, from of old, even they prophesy concerning many lands, and concerning great kingdoms, of battle, and of evil, and of pestilence.

9 Q uanto al profeta che profetizza la pace, una volta che si sarà adempiuta la sua parola egli sarà riconosciuto come uno veramente inviato dal Signore ».

The prophet who doth prophesy of peace -- by the coming in of the word of the prophet, known is the prophet that Jehovah hath truly sent him.'

10 A llora il profeta Anania prese il giogo dal collo del profeta Geremia e lo spezzò.

And Hananiah the prophet taketh the yoke from off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet, and breaketh it,

11 A nania parlò in presenza di tutto il popolo e disse: «Così parla il Signore: “In questo modo io spezzerò il giogo di Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, togliendolo dal collo di tutte le nazioni, entro lo spazio di due anni”». Il profeta Geremia se ne andò.

And Hananiah speaketh before the eyes of all the people, saying, `Thus said Jehovah, Thus I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, within two years of days, from off the neck of all the nations;' and Jeremiah the prophet goeth on his way.

12 A llora la parola del Signore fu rivolta a Geremia, dopo che il profeta Anania ebbe spezzato il giogo togliendolo dal collo del profeta Geremia, e disse:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah after the breaking, by Hananiah the prophet, of the yoke from off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet, saying,

13 « Va’ e di’ ad Anania: “Così parla il Signore: ‘Tu hai spezzato un giogo di legno, ma hai fatto, invece di quello, un giogo di ferro’.

`Go, and thou hast spoken unto Hananiah, saying, Thus said Jehovah, Yokes of wood thou hast broken, and I have made instead of them yokes of iron;

14 I nfatti così parla il Signore degli eserciti, Dio d’Israele: ‘Io metto un giogo di ferro sul collo di tutte queste nazioni perché siano sottomesse a Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, ed esse gli saranno soggette; e gli do pure gli animali della campagna’”».

For thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, A yoke of iron I have put on the neck of all these nations to serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and they have served him, and also the beast of the field I have given to him.'

15 I l profeta Geremia disse al profeta Anania: «Ascolta, Anania! Il Signore non ti ha mandato e tu hai spinto questo popolo a confidare nella menzogna.

And Jeremiah the prophet saith unto Hananiah the prophet, `Hear, I pray thee, O Hananiah; Jehovah hath not sent thee, and thou hast caused this people to trust on falsehood.

16 P erciò così parla il Signore: “Ecco, io ti caccio dalla faccia della terra; quest’anno morirai, perché hai parlato di ribellione contro il Signore ”».

Therefore thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am casting thee from off the face of the ground; this year thou diest, for apostacy thou hast spoken concerning Jehovah.'

17 I l profeta Anania morì quello stesso anno, nel settimo mese.

And Hananiah the prophet dieth in that year, in the seventh month.
