1 « Eliasib, sommo sacerdote, si mise al lavoro con i suoi fratelli sacerdoti e insieme costruirono la porta delle Pecore; la consacrarono e vi misero i battenti; continuarono a costruire fino alla torre di Mea, che consacrarono, e fino alla torre di Cananeel.

And Eliashib the high priest riseth, and his brethren the priests, and they build the sheep-gate; they have sanctified it, and set up its doors, even unto the tower of Meah they have sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel;

2 A ccanto a Eliasib lavorarono gli uomini di Gerico, e accanto a loro lavorò Zaccur, figlio d’Imri.

and by his hand have men of Jericho built; and by their hand hath Zaccur son of Imri built;

3 I figli di Senaa costruirono la porta dei Pesci, ne fecero l’intelaiatura e vi misero i battenti, le serrature e le sbarre.

and the fish-gate have sons of Hassenaah built, they have walled it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars.

4 A ccanto a loro lavorò alle riparazioni Meremot, figlio di Uria, figlio di Accos; accanto a loro lavorò alle riparazioni Mesullam, figlio di Berechia, figlio di Mesezabeel; accanto a loro lavorò alle riparazioni Sadoc, figlio di Baana;

And by their hand hath Merimoth son of Urijah, son of Koz, strengthened; and by his hand hath Meshullam son of Berechiah, son of Meshezabeel, strengthened; and by his hand hath Zadok son of Baana strengthened;

5 a ccanto a loro lavorarono alle riparazioni i Tecoiti, di cui i più importanti non vollero sottomettersi a lavorare all’opera del loro signore.

and by his hand have the Tekoites strengthened, and their honourable ones have not brought in their neck to the service of their Lord.

6 I oiada, figlio di Pasea, e Mesullam, figlio di Besodeia, restaurarono la porta Vecchia; ne fecero l’intelaiatura e vi misero i battenti, le serrature e le sbarre.

And the old gate have Jehoiada son of Paseah, and Meshullam son of Besodeiah, strengthened; they have walled it, and set up its doors, and its locks, and its bars.

7 A ccanto a loro lavorarono alle riparazioni Melatia, il Gabaonita, Iadon, il Meronotita, e gli uomini di Gabaon e di Mispa, che dipendevano dalla sede del governatore d’oltre il fiume;

And by their hand hath Melatiah the Gibeonite strengthened, and Jadon the Meronothite, men of Gibeon and of Mizpah, to the throne of the governor beyond the River.

8 a ccanto a loro lavorò alle riparazioni Uzziel, figlio di Caraia, uno degli orefici, e accanto a lui lavorò Anania, uno dei profumieri. Essi lasciarono Gerusalemme com’era, fino al muro largo.

By his hand hath Uzziel son of Harhaiah of the refiners strengthened; and by his hand hath Hananiah son of the compounders strengthened; and they leave Jerusalem unto the broad wall.

9 A ccanto a loro lavorò alle riparazioni Refaia, figlio di Cur, capo della metà del distretto di Gerusalemme.

And by their hand hath Rephaiah son of Hur, head of the half of the district of Jerusalem, strengthened.

10 A ccanto a loro lavorò alle riparazioni, di fronte a casa sua, Iedaia, figlio di Carumaf, e accanto a lui lavorò Cattus, figlio di Casabneia.

And by their hand hath Jedaiah son of Harumaph strengthened, and over-against his own house; and by his hand hath Hattush son of Hashabniah strengthened.

11 M alchia, figlio di Carim, e Cassub, figlio di Paat-Moab, restaurarono un’altra parte delle mura e la torre dei Forni.

A second measure hath Malchijah son of Harim strengthened, and Hashub son of Pahath-Moab, even the tower of the furnaces.

12 A ccanto a loro lavorò alle riparazioni, con le sue figlie, Sallum, figlio di Alloches, capo della metà del distretto di Gerusalemme.

And by his hand hath Shallum son of Halohesh, head of the half of the district of Jerusalem, strengthened, he and his daughters.

13 C anun e gli abitanti di Zanoà restaurarono la porta della Valle; la costruirono, vi misero i battenti, le serrature e le sbarre. Fecero inoltre mille cubiti di muro fino alla porta del Letame.

The gate of the valley hath Hanun strengthened, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they have built it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars, and a thousand cubits in the wall unto the dung-gate.

14 M alchia, figlio di Recab, capo del distretto di Bet-Accherem, restaurò la porta del Letame; la costruì, vi mise i battenti, le serrature, le sbarre.

And the dung-gate hath Malchijah son of Rechab, head of the district of Beth-Haccerem, strengthened; he doth built it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars.

15 S allum, figlio di Col-Oze, capo del distretto di Mispa, restaurò la porta della Sorgente; la costruì, la coperse, vi mise i battenti, le serrature e le sbarre. Fece inoltre il muro del serbatoio di Siloe, presso il giardino del re, fino alla scalinata che scende dalla città di Davide.

And the gate of the fountain hath Shallum son of Col-Hozeh, head of the district of Mizpah, strengthened: he doth build it, and cover it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars, and the wall of the pool of Siloah, to the garden of the king, and unto the steps that are going down from the city of David.

16 D opo di lui Neemia, figlio di Azbuc, capo della metà del distretto di Bet-Zur, lavorò alle riparazioni sino di fronte alle tombe di Davide, fino al serbatoio che era stato costruito e fino alla casa dei prodi.

After him hath Nehemiah son of Azbuk, head of the half of the district of Beth-Zur, strengthened, unto over-against the graves of David, and unto the pool that is made, and unto the house of the mighty ones.

17 D opo di lui lavorarono alle riparazioni i Leviti, sotto Reum, figlio di Bani; e accanto a lui lavorò per il suo distretto Casabia, capo della metà del distretto di Cheila.

After him have the Levites strengthened, Rehum son of Bani: by his hand hath Hashabiah, head of the half of the district of Keilah, strengthened, for his district.

18 D opo di lui lavorarono alle riparazioni i loro fratelli, sotto Bavvai, figlio di Chenadad, capo della metà del distretto di Cheila;

After him have their brethren strengthened, Bavvai son of Henadad, head of the half of the district of Keilah.

19 e accanto a lui Ezer, figlio di Iesua, capo di Mispa, restaurò un’altra parte delle mura, di fronte alla salita dell’arsenale, all’angolo.

And Ezer son of Jeshua, head of Mizpah, doth strengthen, by his hand, a second measure, from over-against the ascent of the armoury at the angle.

20 D opo di lui Baruc, figlio di Zabbai, ne restaurò con ardore un’altra parte, dall’angolo fino alla porta della casa di Eliasib, il sommo sacerdote.

After him hath Baruch son of Zabbai hastened to strengthen a second measure from the angle unto the opening of the house of Eliashib the high priest.

21 D opo di lui Meremot, figlio di Uria, figlio di Accoz, ne restaurò un’altra parte, dalla porta della casa di Eliasib fino all’estremità della casa di Eliasib.

After him hath Meremoth son of Urijah, son of Koz, strengthened, a second measure, from the opening of the house of Eliashib even unto the completion of the house of Eliashib.

22 D opo di lui lavorarono i sacerdoti che abitavano le campagne circostanti.

And after him have the priests, men of the circuit, strengthened.

23 D opo di loro Beniamino e Cassub lavorarono di fronte alla loro casa. Dopo di loro Azaria, figlio di Maaseia, figlio di Anania, lavorò presso la sua casa.

After them hath Benjamin strengthened, and Hashub, over-against their house; after him hath Azariah son of Maaseiah, son of Ananiah, strengthened, near his house.

24 D opo di lui Binnui, figlio di Chenadad, restaurò un’altra parte delle mura, dalla casa di Azaria fino alla svolta e fino all’angolo.

After him hath Binnui son of Henadad strengthened, a second measure, from the house of Azariah unto the angle, and unto the corner.

25 P alal, figlio d’Uzai, lavorò di fronte alla svolta e alla torre superiore che sporge dal palazzo del re e che dà sul cortile della prigione. Dopo di lui lavorò Pedaia, figlio di Paros.

Palal son of Uzai, from over-against the angle, and the tower that is going out from the upper house of the king that at the court of the prison; after him Pedaiah son of Parosh.

26 I Netinei che abitavano sulla collina lavorarono fino di fronte alla porta delle Acque, verso oriente, e di fronte alla torre sporgente.

And the Nethinim have been dwelling in Ophel, unto over-against the water-gate at the east, and the tower that goeth out.

27 D opo di loro i Tecoiti ne restaurarono un’altra parte, di fronte alla grande torre sporgente e fino al muro della collina.

After him have the Tekoites strengthened, a second measure, from over-against the great tower that goeth out, and unto the wall of Ophel.

28 I sacerdoti lavorarono alle riparazioni al di sopra della porta dei Cavalli, ciascuno di fronte alla propria casa.

From above the horse-gate have the priests strengthened, each over-against his house.

29 D opo di loro Sadoc, figlio d’Immer, lavorò di fronte alla sua casa. Dopo di lui lavorò Semaia, figlio di Secania, guardiano della porta orientale.

After them hath Zadok son of Immer strengthened, over against his house; and after him hath Shemaiah son of Shechaniah, keeper of the east gate, strengthened.

30 D opo di lui Anania, figlio di Selemia, e Canun, sesto figlio di Salaf, restaurarono un’altra parte delle mura. Dopo di loro Mesullam, figlio di Berechia, lavorò di fronte alla sua camera.

After him hath Hananiah son of Shelemiah strengthened, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, a second measure; after him hath Meshullam son of Berechiah strengthened, over-against his chamber.

31 D opo di lui Malchia, uno degli orefici, lavorò fino alle case dei Netinei e dei mercanti, di fronte alla porta di Ammifcad e fino al piano superiore dell’angolo.

After him hath Malchijah son of the refiner strengthened, unto the house of the Nethinim, and of the merchants, over-against the gate of the Miphkad, and unto the ascent of the corner.

32 G li orefici e i mercanti lavorarono alle riparazioni fra il piano superiore dell’angolo e la porta delle Pecore.

And between the ascent of the corner and the sheep-gate, have the refiners and the merchants strengthened.
