1 A nd it cometh to pass after this, that David smiteth the Philistines, and humbleth them, and taketh Gath and its small towns out of the hand of the Philistines;

Dopo questi fatti Davide sconfisse i Filistei, li umiliò e tolse di mano ai Filistei Gat e i villaggi vicini.

2 a nd he smiteth Moab, and the Moabites are servants to David, bringing a present.

Sconfisse pure i Moabiti, e i Moabiti divennero sudditi e tributari di Davide.

3 A nd David smiteth Hadarezer king of Zobah, at Hamath, in his going to establish his power by the river Phrat,

Davide sconfisse anche Adadezer, re di Soba, verso Camat, mentre egli andava a stabilire il suo dominio sul fiume Eufrate.

4 a nd David captureth from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen, and David destroyeth utterly all the chariots, and leaveth of them a hundred chariots.

Davide gli prese mille carri, settemila cavalieri e ventimila fanti; tagliò i garretti a tutti i cavalli da tiro, ma riservò dei cavalli per cento carri.

5 A nd Aram of Damascus cometh in to give help to Hadarezer king of Zobah, and David smiteth in Aram twenty and two thousand men,

Quando i Siri di Damasco vennero per soccorrere Adadezer re di Soba, Davide ne uccise ventiduemila.

6 a nd David putteth in Aram of Damascus, and the Aramaeans are to David for servants, bearing a present, and Jehovah giveth salvation to David whithersoever he hath gone.

Poi Davide mise delle guarnigioni nella Siria di Damasco, e i Siri divennero sudditi e tributari di Davide; e il Signore lo rendeva vittorioso dovunque egli andava.

7 A nd David taketh the shields of gold that have been on the servants of Hadarezer, and bringeth them in to Jerusalem;

Davide tolse ai servi di Adadezer i loro scudi d’oro e li portò a Gerusalemme.

8 a nd from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, hath David taken very much brass; with it hath Solomon made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

Davide prese anche una grande quantità di bronzo a Tibat e a Cun, città di Adadezer. Salomone se ne servì per fare il Mare di bronzo, le colonne e gli utensili di bronzo.

9 A nd Tou king of Hamath heareth that David hath smitten the whole force of Hadarezer king of Zobah,

Quando Tou, re di Camat, ebbe udito che Davide aveva sconfitto tutto l’esercito di Adadezer, re di Soba,

10 a nd he sendeth Hadoram his son unto king David, to ask of him of peace, and to bless him (because that he hath fought against Hadarezer, and smiteth him, for a man of wars with Tou had Hadarezer been,) and all kinds of vessels, of gold, and silver, and brass;

mandò al re Davide Adoram, suo figlio, per salutarlo e per benedirlo perché aveva mosso guerra a Adadezer e l’aveva sconfitto (Adadezer era sempre in guerra con Tou); e Adoram portò con sé ogni tipo di vasi d’oro, d’argento e di bronzo.

11 a lso them hath king David sanctified to Jehovah with the silver and the gold that he hath taken from all the nations, from Edom, and from Moab, and from the sons of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

Il re Davide consacrò anche quelli al Signore, come aveva già consacrato l’argento e l’oro che aveva portato via a tutte le nazioni: agli Edomiti, ai Moabiti, agli Ammoniti, ai Filistei e agli Amalechiti.

12 A nd Abishai son of Zeruiah hath smitten Edom in the valley of salt -- eighteen thousand,

Abisai, figlio di Seruia, sconfisse pure diciottomila Edomiti nella valle del Sale.

13 a nd he putteth in Edom garrisons, and all the Edomites are servants to David; and Jehovah saveth David whithersoever he hath gone.

Mise delle guarnigioni in Idumea e tutti gli Edomiti divennero sudditi di Davide; e il Signore rendeva Davide vittorioso dovunque egli andava.

14 A nd David reigneth over all Israel, and he is doing judgment and righteousness to all his people,

Davide regnò su tutto Israele, facendo valere il diritto e amministrando la giustizia a tutto il suo popolo.

15 a nd Joab son of Zeruiah over the host, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud remembrancer,

Ioab, figlio di Seruia, comandava l’esercito; Giosafat, figlio di Ailud, era archivista;

16 a nd Zadok son of Ahitub, and Abimelech son of Abiathar, priests, and Shavsha scribe,

Sadoc, figlio di Aitub, e Abimelec, figlio di Abiatar, erano sacerdoti; Savsa era segretario;

17 a nd Benaiah son of Jehoiada over the Cherethite and the Pelethite, and the elder sons of David at the hand of the king.

Benaia, figlio di Ieoiada, era capo dei Cheretei e dei Peletei; e i figli di Davide erano i primi al fianco del re.
