1 A nd all the company of the sons of Israel are assembled Shiloh, and they cause the tent of meeting to tabernacle there, and the land hath been subdued before them.

Poi tutta la comunità dei figli d’Israele si radunò a Silo, dove montarono la tenda di convegno. Il paese era loro sottomesso.

2 A nd there are left among the sons of Israel who have not shared their inheritance, seven tribes,

Rimanevano, tra i figli d’Israele, sette tribù che non avevano ricevuto la loro eredità.

3 a nd Joshua saith unto the sons of Israel, `Till when are ye remiss to go in to possess the land which He hath given to you, Jehovah, God of your fathers?

E Giosuè disse ai figli d’Israele: «Fino a quando trascurerete di andare a prendere possesso del paese che il Signore, il Dio dei vostri padri, vi ha dato?

4 G ive for you three men for a tribe, and I send them, and they rise and go up and down through the land, and describe it according to their inheritance, and come in unto me,

Sceglietevi tre uomini per tribù e io li manderò. Essi partiranno, percorreranno il paese, ne faranno una mappa per la spartizione, poi torneranno da me.

5 a nd they have divided it into seven portions -- Judah doth stay by its border on the south, and the house of Joseph do stay by their border on the north --

Essi lo divideranno in sette parti: Giuda rimarrà nei suoi confini a mezzogiorno, e la casa di Giuseppe rimarrà nei suoi confini a settentrione.

6 a nd ye describe the land seven portions, and have brought in unto me hither, and I have cast for you a lot here before Jehovah our God;

Voi farete dunque una mappa del paese, dividendolo in sette parti; me la porterete qui, e io ve le tirerò a sorte qui, davanti al Signore nostro Dio.

7 f or there is no portion to the Levites in your midst, for the priesthood of Jehovah their inheritance, and Gad, and Reuben, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh received their inheritance beyond the Jordan eastward, which Moses servant of Jehovah gave to them.'

Per i Leviti non vi sarà parte in mezzo a voi, poiché il sacerdozio del Signore è la loro parte; e Gad, Ruben e la mezza tribù di Manasse hanno già ricevuto, di là dal Giordano, a oriente, l’eredità che Mosè, servo del Signore, ha data loro».

8 A nd the men rise and go; and Joshua commandeth those who are going to describe the land, saying, `Go, and walk up and down through the land, and describe it, and turn back unto me, and here I cast for you a lot before Jehovah in Shiloh.'

Quegli uomini dunque si alzarono per partire. A loro che andavano a fare una mappa del paese Giosuè ordinò: «Andate, percorrete il paese, fatene una mappa e tornate da me; io vi tirerò a sorte le parti qui, davanti al Signore, a Silo».

9 A nd the men go, and pass over through the land, and describe it by cities, in seven portions, on a book, and they come in unto Joshua, unto the camp, Shiloh.

E quegli uomini andarono, percorsero il paese, ne fecero una mappa scritta secondo le città, dividendola in sette parti; poi tornarono da Giosuè, all’accampamento di Silo.

10 A nd Joshua casteth for them a lot in Shiloh before Jehovah, and there Joshua apportioneth the land to the sons of Israel, according to their divisions.

Allora Giosuè tirò a sorte le parti a Silo davanti al Signore, e spartì il paese tra i figli d’Israele, assegnando a ciascuno la sua parte. Territorio toccato a Beniamino

11 A nd a lot goeth up the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, for their families; and the border of their lot goeth out between the sons of Judah and the sons of Joseph.

Fu tirata a sorte la parte della tribù dei figli di Beniamino, secondo le loro famiglie; e la parte che toccò loro aveva i suoi confini tra i figli di Giuda e i figli di Giuseppe.

12 A nd the border is to them at the north side from the Jordan, and the border hath gone up unto the side of Jericho on the north, and gone up through the hill-country westward, and its outgoings have been at the wilderness of Beth-Aven;

Dal lato di settentrione, il loro confine partiva dal Giordano, risaliva il versante di Gerico al nord, saliva per la regione montuosa verso occidente, e terminava nel deserto di Bet-Aven.

13 a nd the border hath gone over thence to Luz, unto the side of Luz (it Beth-El) southward, and the border hath gone down Atroth-Addar, by the hill that on the south of the lower Beth-Horon;

Di là passava per Luz, sul versante meridionale di Luz, cioè Betel, e scendeva ad Aterot-Addar, presso il monte che è a mezzogiorno di Bet-Oron inferiore.

14 a nd the border hath been marked out, and hath gone round to the corner of the sea southward, from the hill which at the front of Beth-Horon southward, and its outgoings have been unto Kirjath-Baal (it Kirjath-Jearim), a city of the sons of Judah: this the west quarter.

Poi il confine si prolungava e, dal lato occidentale, girava a mezzogiorno del monte posto di fronte a Bet-Oron e terminava a Chiriat-Iearim, città dei figli di Giuda. Questo era il lato occidentale.

15 A nd the south quarter from the end of Kirjath-Jearim, and the border hath gone out westward, and gone out unto the fountain of the waters of Nephtoah;

Il lato di mezzogiorno cominciava all’estremità di Chiriat-Iearim. Il confine si prolungava verso occidente fino alla sorgente delle acque di Neftoa;

16 a nd the border hath come down unto the extremity of the hill which on the front of the valley of the son of Hinnom, which in the valley of the Rephaim northward, and hath gone down the valley of Hinnom unto the side of Jebusi southward, and gone down En-Rogel,

poi scendeva all’estremità del monte posto di fronte alla valle di Ben-Innom, che è nella vallata dei Refaim, al nord, e scendeva per la valle di Innom, sul versante meridionale dei Gebusei, fino a En-Roghel.

17 a nd hath been marked out on the north, and gone out to En-Shemesh, and gone out unto Geliloth, which over-against the ascent of Adummim, and gone down the stone of Bohan son of Reuben,

Si estendeva quindi verso il nord, e giungeva a En-Semes; di là si dirigeva verso Ghelilot, che è di fronte alla salita di Adummim, e scendeva al sasso di Boan, figlio di Ruben;

18 a nd passed over unto the side over-against Arabah northward, and gone down to Arabah;

poi passava per il versante settentrionale, di fronte all’Arabà, e scendeva nell’Arabà.

19 a nd the border hath passed over unto the side of Beth-Hoglah northward, and the outgoings of the border have been unto the north bay of the salt sea, unto the south extremity of the Jordan; this the south border;

Il confine passava quindi per il versante settentrionale di Bet-Ogla e terminava al braccio nord del mar Salato, all’estremità meridionale del Giordano. Questo era il confine meridionale.

20 a nd the Jordan doth border it at the east quarter; this the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin, by its borders round about, for their families.

Il Giordano serviva da confine dal lato orientale. Questa fu l’eredità dei figli di Beniamino, secondo le loro famiglie, con i suoi confini da tutti i lati.

21 A nd the cities for the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, for their families, have been Jericho, and Beth-Hoglah, and the valley of Keziz,

Le città della tribù dei figli di Beniamino, secondo le loro famiglie, furono: Gerico, Bet-Ogla, Emec-Chesis,

22 a nd Beth-Arabah, Zemaraim, and Beth-El,

Bet-Arabà, Semaraim, Betel,

23 a nd Avim, and Parah, and Ophrah,

Avvim, Para, Ofra,

24 a nd Chephar-Haammonai, and Ophni, and Gaba; twelve cities and their villages.

Chefar-Ammonai, Ofni e Gheba – dodici città e i loro villaggi –

25 G ibeon, and Ramah, and Beeroth,

Gabaon, Rama, Beerot,

26 a nd Mizpeh, and Chephirah, and Mozah,

Mispa, Chefira, Mosa,

27 a nd Rekem, and Irpeel, and Taralah,

Rechem, Irpeel, Tareala,

28 a nd Zelah, Eleph, and Jebusi (it Jerusalem), Gibeath, Kirjath: fourteen cities and their villages. This the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin, for their families.

Sela, Elef, Gebus, cioè Gerusalemme, Ghibeat e Chiriat – quattordici città e i loro villaggi. Questa fu l’eredità dei figli di Beniamino, secondo le loro famiglie.
