1 A nd the people of the land take Jehoahaz son of Josiah, and cause him to reign instead of his father in Jerusalem.

Allora il popolo del paese prese Ioacaz, figlio di Giosia, e lo fece re a Gerusalemme al posto di suo padre.

2 A son of three and twenty years Jehoahaz in his reigning, and three months he hath reigned in Jerusalem,

Ioacaz aveva ventitré anni quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò tre mesi a Gerusalemme.

3 a nd turn him aside doth the king of Egypt in Jerusalem, and fineth the land a hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold;

Il re d’Egitto lo depose a Gerusalemme e gravò il paese di un tributo di cento talenti d’argento e di un talento d’oro.

4 a nd the king of Egypt causeth Eliakim his brother to reign over Judah and Jerusalem, and turneth his name to Jehoiakim; and Jehoahaz his brother hath Necho taken, and bringeth him in to Egypt.

Il re d’Egitto fece re sopra Giuda e sopra Gerusalemme Eliachim, fratello di Ioacaz, e gli cambiò il nome in Ioiachim. Neco prese Ioacaz, fratello di lui, e lo condusse in Egitto.

5 A son of twenty and five years Jehoiakim in his reigning, and eleven years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah his God;

Ioiachim aveva venticinque anni quando cominciò a regnare; regnò undici anni a Gerusalemme e fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, il suo Dio.

6 a gainst him hath Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon come up, and bindeth him in brazen fetters to take him away to Babylon.

Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, salì contro di lui e lo legò con doppie catene di bronzo per condurlo a Babilonia.

7 A nd of the vessels of the house of Jehovah hath Nebuchadnezzar brought in to Babylon, and putteth them in his temple in Babylon.

Nabucodonosor portò pure a Babilonia parte degli utensili della casa del Signore e li mise nel suo palazzo a Babilonia.

8 A nd the rest of the matters of Jehoiakim, and his abominations that he hath done, and that which is found against him, lo, they are written on the book of the kings of Israel and Judah, and reign doth Jehoiachin his son in his stead.

Il rimanente delle azioni di Ioiachim, le abominazioni che commise e tutto quello di cui si rese colpevole sono cose scritte nel libro dei re d’Israele e di Giuda. E Ioiachin, suo figlio, regnò al suo posto.

9 A son of eight years is Jehoiachin in his reigning, and three months and ten days he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah;

Ioiachin aveva otto anni quando cominciò a regnare; regnò tre mesi e dieci giorni a Gerusalemme, e fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore.

10 a nd at the turn of the year hath king Nebuchadnezzar sent and bringeth him in to Babylon, with the desirable vessels of the house of Jehovah, and causeth Zedekiah his brother to reign over Judah and Jerusalem.

L’anno seguente il re Nabucodonosor mandò a prenderlo, lo fece condurre a Babilonia con gli utensili preziosi della casa del Signore e fece re di Giuda e di Gerusalemme Sedechia, fratello di Ioiachin. Sedechia, re di Giuda; distruzione di Gerusalemme; deportazione a Babilonia

11 A son of twenty and one years Zedekiah in his reigning, and eleven years he hath reigned in Jerusalem;

Sedechia aveva ventun anni quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò a Gerusalemme undici anni.

12 a nd he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah his God, he hath not been humbled before Jeremiah the prophet from the mouth of Jehovah;

Egli fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, suo Dio, e non si umiliò davanti al profeta Geremia, che gli parlava da parte del Signore.

13 a nd also, against king Nebuchadnezzar he hath rebelled, who had caused him to swear by God, and he hardeneth his neck, and strengtheneth his heart, against turning back unto Jehovah, God of Israel.

Egli si ribellò pure a Nabucodonosor, che lo aveva fatto giurare nel nome di Dio; e irrigidì il collo e il suo cuore rifiutando di convertirsi al Signore, Dio d’Israele.

14 A lso, all the heads of the priests, and the people, having multiplied to commit a trespass according to all the abominations of the nations, and they defile the house of Jehovah that He hath sanctified in Jerusalem.

Tutti i capi dei sacerdoti e il popolo moltiplicarono anch’essi le loro infedeltà, seguendo tutte le abominazioni delle nazioni; contaminarono la casa del Signore, che egli aveva santificata a Gerusalemme.

15 A nd Jehovah, God of their fathers, sendeth unto them by the hand of His messengers -- rising early and sending -- for He hath had pity on His people, and on His habitation,

Il Signore, Dio dei loro padri, mandò loro a più riprese degli ammonimenti per mezzo dei suoi messaggeri, perché voleva risparmiare il suo popolo e la sua casa;

16 a nd they are mocking at the messengers of God, and despising His words, and acting deceitfully with His prophets, till the going up of the fury of Jehovah against His people -- till there is no healing.

ma quelli si beffarono dei messaggeri di Dio, disprezzarono le sue parole e schernirono i suoi profeti, finché l’ira del Signore contro il suo popolo arrivò al punto che non ci fu più rimedio.

17 A nd He causeth to go up against them the king of the Chaldeans, and he slayeth their chosen ones by the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and hath had no pity on young man and virgin, old man and very aged -- the whole He hath given into his hand.

Allora egli fece salire contro di essi il re dei Caldei, che uccise di spada i loro giovani nella casa del loro santuario, e non risparmiò giovane, né fanciulla, né anziano, né vecchio. Il Signore gli diede nelle mani ogni cosa.

18 A nd all the vessels of the house of God, the great and the small, and the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king and of his princes -- the whole he hath brought in to Babylon.

Nabucodonosor portò a Babilonia tutti gli utensili della casa di Dio, grandi e piccoli, i tesori della casa del Signore e i tesori del re e dei suoi capi.

19 A nd they burn the house of God, and break down the wall of Jerusalem, and all its palaces they have burnt with fire, and all its desirable vessels -- to destruction.

I Caldei incendiarono la casa di Dio, demolirono le mura di Gerusalemme, diedero alle fiamme tutti i suoi palazzi e ne distrussero tutti gli oggetti preziosi.

20 A nd he removeth those left of the sword unto Babylon, and they are to him and to his sons for servants, till the reigning of the kingdom of Persia,

Nabucodonosor deportò a Babilonia quanti erano scampati alla spada; ed essi furono assoggettati a lui e ai suoi figli, fino all’avvento del regno di Persia

21 t o fulfil the word of Jehovah in the mouth of Jeremiah, till the land hath enjoyed its sabbaths; all the days of the desolation it kept sabbath -- to the fulness of seventy years.

(affinché si adempisse la parola del Signore pronunciata per bocca di Geremia), fino a che il paese avesse goduto dei suoi sabati; difatti esso dovette riposare per tutto il tempo della sua desolazione, finché furono compiuti i settant’anni. Editto di Ciro

22 A nd in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, at the completion of the word of Jehovah in the mouth of Jeremiah, hath Jehovah waked up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, and he causeth an intimation to pass over into all his kingdom, and also in writing, saying,

Nel primo anno di Ciro, re di Persia, affinché si adempisse la parola del Signore pronunciata per bocca di Geremia, il Signore destò lo spirito di Ciro, re di Persia, il quale, a voce e per iscritto, fece pubblicare per tutto il suo regno questo editto:

23 ` Thus said Cyrus king of Persia, All kingdoms of the earth hath Jehovah, God of the heavens, given to me, and He hath laid a charge on me to build to Him a house in Jerusalem, that in Judah; who is among you of all His people? Jehovah his God with him, and he doth go up.'

«Così dice Ciro, re di Persia: “Il Signore, Dio dei cieli, mi ha dato tutti i regni della terra, ed egli mi ha comandato di costruirgli una casa a Gerusalemme, che si trova in Giuda. Chiunque fra voi è del suo popolo, sia il Signore, il suo Dio, con lui, e parta!”».
