1 A nd Samuel dieth, and all Israel are gathered, and mourn for him, and bury him in his house, in Ramah; and David riseth and goeth down unto the wilderness of Paran.

В това време Самуил умря; и целият Израил се събра та го оплакаха, и погребаха го в къщата му в Рама. И Давид стана та слезе в пустинята Фаран.

2 A nd a man in Maon, and his work in Carmel; and the man very great, and he hath three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats; and he is shearing his flock in Carmel.

И имаше в Маон един човек, чиято работа беше на Кармил; и тоя човек беше много богат, и имаше три хиляди овци и хиляда кози; и стрижеше овците си на Кармил.

3 A nd the name of the man Nabal, and the name of his wife Abigail, and the woman of good understanding, and of fair form, and the man hard and evil doings; and he a Calebite.

Името на човека беше Навал, а името на жена му Авигея; и жената беше благоразумна и красива, а мъжът опак и нечестив в делата си; и той беше от Халевовия род {Или: С кучешки нрави.}.

4 A nd David heareth in the wilderness that Nabal is shearing his flock,

И като чу Давид в пустинята как Навал стрижел овците си,

5 a nd David sendeth ten young men, and David saith to the young men, `Go ye up to Carmel, and ye have come in unto Nabal, and asked of him in my name of welfare,

изпрати десет момъка; и Давид каза на момците: Качете се на Кармил та идете при Навала, и поздравете го от мое име като кажете:

6 a nd said thus: To life! and thou, peace; and thy house, peace; and all that thou hast -- peace!

Здравей! мир и на тебе, мир и на дома ти, мир и на всичко що имаш!

7 a nd, now, I have heard that thou hast shearers; now, the shepherds whom thou hast have been with us, we have not put them to shame, nor hath anything been looked after by them, all the days of their being in Carmel.

И сега чух, че си имал стригачи; ето, не повредихме овчарите ти, които бяха с нас, нито им се изгуби нещо през цялото време, когато бяха на Кармил.

8 ` Ask thy young men, and they declare to thee, and the young men find grace in thine eyes, for on a good day we have come; give, I pray thee, that which thy hand findeth, to thy servants, and to thy son, to David.'

Попитай момците си, и ще ти кажат. Прочее, нека придобият <моите> момци твоето благоволение, защото в добър ден дойдохме; дай, моля, на слугите си и на сина си Давида каквото ти дава ръка.

9 A nd the young men of David come in, and speak unto Nabal according to all these words, in the name of David -- and rest.

И тъй, Давидовите момци дойдоха та говориха на Навала според всички тия думи от името на Давида, - и млъкнаха.

10 A nd Nabal answereth the servants of David and saith, `Who David, and who the son of Jesse? to-day have servants been multiplied who are breaking away each from his master;

Но Навал отговори на Давидовите слуги, казвайки: Кой е Давид? и кой е Есеевият син? Много са станали днес слугите, които бягат всеки от господаря си.

11 a nd I have taken my bread, and my water, and my flesh, which I slaughtered for my shearers, and have given to men whom I have not known whence they!'

И така, да взема ли хляба си, и водата си, и закланото, което заклах за стригачите си, та да ги дам на човеци, които не знам от къде са?

12 A nd the young men of David turn on their way, and turn back, and come in, and declare to him according to all these words.

И Давидовите момци се върнаха по пътя си, та си отидоха, и като дойдоха известиха на <Давида> всички тия думи.

13 A nd David saith to his men, `Gird ye on each his sword;' and they gird on each his sword, and David also girdeth on his sword, and there go up after David about four hundred men, and two hundred have remained by the vessels.

Тогава Давид каза на мъжете си: Препашете всеки меча си; и препасаха всеки меча си; така и Давид препаса меча си; и излязоха подир Давида около четиристотин мъже, а двеста останаха при вещите.

14 A nd to Abigail wife of Nabal hath one young man of the youths declared, saying, `Lo, David hath sent messengers out of the wilderness to bless our lord, and he flieth upon them;

А един от момците извести на Наваловата жена Авигея, казвайки: Ето, Давид прати човеци от пустинята за да поздравят нашия господар; а той се спусна върху тях.

15 a nd the men very good to us, and have not put us to shame, and we have not looked after anything all the days we have gone up and down with them, in our being in the field;

Но тия мъже бяха много добри към нас; ние не бяхме повредени, нито изгубихме нещо, докато дружехме с тях, когато бяхме в полето;

16 a wall they have been unto us both by night and by day, all the days of our being with them, feeding the flock.

те бяха като стена около нас и денем и нощем през всичкото време, докато бяхме с тях и пасяхме овците.

17 ` And, now, know and consider what thou dost; for evil hath been determined against our lord, and against all his house, and he too much a son of worthlessness to be spoken to.'

Прочее, знай това и размисли, какво ще направиш; защото зло е решено против господаря ни и против целия му дом; понеже той е толкоз злонрав човек, щото никой не може да му продума.

18 A nd Abigail hasteth, and taketh two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep, prepared, and five measures of roasted corn, and a hundred bunches of raisins, and two hundred bunches of figs, and setteth on the asses.

Тогава Авигея побърза та взе двеста хляба, два меха вино, пет сготвени овци, пет мери пържено жито, сто грозда сухо грозде и двеста низаници смокини, и ги натовари на осли.

19 A nd she saith to her young men, `Pass over before me; lo, after you I am coming;' and to her husband Nabal she hath not declared;

И рече на момчетата си: Вървете пред мене; ето аз ида след вас. Но на мъжа си Навала не каза нищо.

20 a nd it hath come to pass, she is riding on the ass and is coming down in the secret part of the hill-country, and lo, David and his men are coming down to meet her, and she meeteth them.

И като седеше тя на осела и слизаше под сянката на гората, ето, Давид и мъжете му слизаха към нея; и тя ги срещна.

21 A nd David said, `Only, in vain I have kept all that this hath in the wilderness, and nothing hath been looked after of all that he hath, and he turneth back to me evil for good;

А Давид беше казал: Наистина напразно съм пазил всичко що имаше тоз човек в пустинята, и нищо не се изгуби от всичко що имаше; но пак той ми въздаде зло за добро.

22 t hus doth God do to the enemies of David, and thus He doth add, if I leave of all that he hath till the light of the morning -- of those sitting on the wall.'

Така да направи Бог на Давидовите неприятели, да! и повече да притури, ако до утрешната зора оставя едно мъжко {Еврейски: Пикаещ в стена.} от всичко що е негово.

23 A nd Abigail seeth David, and hasteth and cometh down from off the ass, and falleth before David on her face, and boweth herself to the earth,

И Авигея, като видя Давида побърза та слезе от осела, и падна пред Давида на лицето си, та се поклони до земята.

24 a nd falleth at his feet and saith, `On me, my lord, the iniquity; and let, I pray thee, thy handmaid speak in thine ear, and hear the words of thy handmaid.

И, като припадна при нозете му, рече: На мене, господарю мой, на мене нека бъде това нечестие; и нека говори, моля, слугинята ти в ушите ти; и послушай думите на слугинята си.

25 ` Let not, I pray thee, my lord set his heart to this man of worthlessness, on Nabal, for as his name so he; Nabal his name, and folly with him; and I, thine handmaid, did not see the young men of my lord whom thou didst send;

Моля, нека господарят ми не обръща никакво внимание на тоя злонрав човек Навала; защото каквото е името му такъв е и той; Навал {Т.е., Безумен.} е името му, и безумие <обитава> в него; а пък аз, твоята слугиня, не видях момците на господаря си, които си пратил.

26 a nd now, my lord, Jehovah liveth, and thy soul liveth, in that Jehovah hath withheld thee from coming in with blood, and to save thy hand to thee -- now let thine enemies be as Nabal, even those seeking evil unto my lord.

Сега, прочее, господарю мой, <в името> на живия Господ и на живота на душата ти, понеже Господ те е въздържал от кръвопролитие и от самоотмъщаване с ръката ти, то вразите ти, и тия, които искат зло на господаря ми, нека бъдат като Навала.

27 ` And, now, this blessing which thy maid-servant hath brought to my lord -- it hath been given to the young men who are going up and down at the feet of my lord.

И сега тоя подарък {Еврейски: това благословение.}, който твоята слугиня донесе на господаря си, нека се даде на момците, които следват господаря ми.

28 ` Bear, I pray thee, with the transgression of thy handmaid, for Jehovah doth certainly make to my lord a stedfast house; for the battles of Jehovah hath my lord fought, and evil is not found in thee thy days.

Прости, моля, грешката на слугинята си, защото Господ непременно ще направи за господаря ми твърд дом, понеже господарят ми воюва в Господните войни. И зло не се намери в тебе никога.

29 A nd man riseth to pursue thee and to seek thy soul, and the soul of my lord hath been bound in the bundle of life with Jehovah thy God; as to the soul of thine enemies, He doth sling them out in the midst of the hollow of the sling.

И при все, че се е дигнал човек да те гони и да иска живота ти, пак животът на господаря ми ще бъде вързан във вързопа на живите при Господа твоя Бог; а животът на неприятелите ти Той ще изхвърли като отсред прашка.

30 ` And it hath been, when Jehovah doth to my lord according to all the good which He hath spoken concerning thee, and appointed thee for leader over Israel,

И когато Господ постъпи към господаря ми според всичките благости, които е говорил за тебе, и те постави управител над Израиля,

31 t hat this is not to thee for a stumbling-block, and for an offence of heart to my lord -- either to shed blood for nought, or my lord's restraining himself; and Jehovah hath done good to my lord, and thou hast remembered thy handmaid.'

тогава това не ще ти бъде <причина за> съжаление, нито <причина> да се спъва сърцето на господаря ми, гдето си пролял невинна кръв, или гдето господарят ми е отмъстил сам за себе си; но когато Господ направи добро на господаря ми, тогава спомни слугинята си.

32 A nd David saith to Abigail, `Blessed Jehovah, God of Israel, who hath sent thee this day to meet me,

Тогава Давид каза на Авигея: Благословен да бъде Господ Израилевия Бог, Който те изпрати днес да ме посрещнеш;

33 a nd blessed thy discretion, and blessed thou in that thou hast restrained me this day from coming in with blood, and to restrain my hand to myself.

и благословен съвета ти; и благословена ти, която ме въздържа днес от кръвопролитие и от самоотмъщаване с ръката ми.

34 A nd yet, Jehovah liveth, God of Israel, who hath kept me back from doing evil with thee, for unless thou hadst hasted, and dost come to meet me, surely there had not been left to Nabal till the light of the morning, of those sitting on the wall.'

Защото действително, <заклевам се> в живота на Господа Израилевия Бог, Който ме въздържа да не ти сторя зло, ако не беше побързала да дойдеш да ме посрещнеш, то до утрешната зора нямаше да остане на Навала нито едно мъжко.

35 A nd David receiveth from her hand that which she hath brought to him, and to her he hath said, `Go up in peace to thy house; see, I have hearkened to thy voice, and accept thy face.'

И така Давид взе от ръката й онова, що му бе донесла; и рече й: Иди в дома си с мир; виж, послушах думите ти и те приех.

36 A nd Abigail cometh in unto Nabal, and lo, he hath a banquet in his house, like a banquet of the king, and the heart of Nabal glad within him, and he drunk unto excess, and she hath not declared to him anything, less or more, till the light of the morning.

А Авигея дойде при Навала, и, ето, той имаше в дома си гощавка, като царска гощавка; и Наваловото сърце беше весело в него, понеже той беше крайно пиян, затова, до утрешната зора тя не му извести нищо, ни малко, ни много.

37 A nd it cometh to pass in the morning, when the wine is gone out from Nabal, that his wife declareth to him these things, and his heart dieth within him, and he hath been as a stone.

Но на утринта, като изтрезня Навал, жена му му разказа тия работи; и сърцето му примря в него, и той стана като камък.

38 A nd it cometh to pass, about ten days, that Jehovah smiteth Nabal, and he dieth,

И около десет дена подир това Господ порази Навала, та умря.

39 a nd David heareth that Nabal dead, and saith, `Blessed Jehovah who hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and His servant hath kept back from evil, and the wickedness of Nabal hath Jehovah turned back on his own head;' and David sendeth and speaketh with Abigail, to take her to him for a wife.

А когато чу Давид, че умрял Навал, рече: Благословен да бъде Господ, Който отсъди съдбата ми за обидата ми от Навала, и въздържа слугата Си да не стори зло; защото Господ обърна злобата на Навала върху главата му. И Давид прати да говорят на Авигея, за да я вземе за жена.

40 A nd the servants of David come in unto Abigail at Carmel, and speak unto her, saying, `David hath sent us unto thee to take thee to him for a wife.'

И когато Давидовите слуги дойдоха при Авигея в Кармил, говориха й казвайки: Давид ни прати при тебе да те вземе за жена.

41 A nd she riseth and boweth herself -- face to the earth -- and saith, `Lo, thy handmaid for a maid-servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.'

И тя стана та се поклони с лицето си до земята и рече: Ето, слугинята ти е служителка да мие нозете на господаревите си слуги.

42 A nd Abigail hasteth and riseth, and rideth on the ass; and five of her young women who are going at her feet; and she goeth after the messengers of David, and is to him for a wife.

Тогава Авигея побърза та стана и се качи на осел, заедно с пет нейни момичета, които отиваха подир нея; и отиде след пратениците на Давида, и му стана жена.

43 A nd Ahinoam hath David taken from Jezreel, and they are -- even both of them -- to him for wives;

Давид взе още и Ахиноам от Езраел; и тия двете му станаха жени.

44 a nd Saul gave Michal his daughter, wife to David, to Phalti son of Laish, who of Gallim.

А Саул беше дал дъщеря си Михала, Давидовата жена, на Фалтия Лаисовия син, който беше от Галим.
