1 A nd Rehoboam goeth to Shechem, for Shechem have all Israel come to cause him to reign.

И Ровоам отиде в Сихем; защото в Сихем беше се стекъл целият Израил за да го направи цар.

2 A nd it cometh to pass, at Jeroboam son of Nebat's -- who in Egypt because he hath fled from the face of Solomon the king -- hearing, that Jeroboam turneth back out of Egypt;

И Еровоам, Наватовият син, който бе в Египет, гдето бе побягнал от присъствието на цар Соломона, когато чу това, Еровоам се върна от Египет;

3 a nd they send and call for him, and Jeroboam cometh in, and all Israel, and speak unto Rehoboam, saying,

защото пратиха та го повикаха. Тогава Еровоам и целият Израил дойдоха та говориха на Ровоама, като рекоха:

4 ` Thy father made our yoke sharp, and now, make light of the sharp service of thy father, and of his heavy yoke that he put upon us, and we serve thee.'

Баща ти направи непоносим хомота ни; сега, прочее, ти олекчи жестокото ни работене на баща ти и тежкия хомот, който наложи върху нас и ще ти работим.

5 A nd he saith unto them, `Yet three days -- then return ye unto me;' and the people go.

А той им рече: Върнете се при мене подир три дена. И людете си отидоха.

6 A nd king Rehoboam consulteth with the aged men who have been standing before Solomon his father in his being alive, saying, `How are ye counselling to answer this people?'

Тогава цар Ровоам се съветва със старейшините, които бяха служили пред баща му Соломона, когато беше още жив, като каза: Как ме съветвате да отговоря на тия люде?

7 A nd they speak unto him, saying, `If thou dost become good to this people, and hast been pleased with them, and spoken unto them good words, then they have been to thee servants all the days.'

Те му отговориха казвайки: Ако се отнесеш благосклонно към тия люде, та им угодиш, и им говориш благи думи, тогава те ще ти бъдат слуги за винаги.

8 A nd he forsaketh the counsel of the aged men that they counselled him, and consulteth with the lads who have grown up with him, those standing before him,

Но той отхвърли съвета, който старейшините му дадоха, та се съветва с младите си служители, които бяха пораснали заедно с него.

9 a nd he saith unto them, `What are ye counselling, and we answer this people that have spoken unto me, saying, Make light of the yoke that thy father put upon us?'

Рече им: Как ме съветвате вие да отговорим на тия люде, които ми говориха казвайки: Олекчи хомота, който баща ти наложи върху нас?

10 A nd the lads who have grown up with him, speak with him, saying, `Thus dost thou say to the people who have spoken unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, and thou, make light of our yoke; thus dost thou say unto them, My little finger is thicker than the loins of my father;

И младите, които бяха пораснали заедно с него, му отговориха казвайки: Така да кажеш на людете, които ти говориха, казвайки: Баща ти направи тежък хомота ни, но ти да ни го олекчиш, - така да им речеш: Малкият ми пръст ще бъде по-дебел от бащиния ми кръст.

11 a nd now, my father laid on you a heavy yoke, and I -- I add unto your yoke; my father chastised you with whips, and I -- with scorpions.'

Сега, ако баща ми ви е товарил с тежък хомот, то аз ще направя още по-тежък хомота ви; ако баща ми ви е наказвал с бичове, то аз <ще ви наказвам> със скорпии.

12 A nd Jeroboam cometh in, and all the people, unto Rehoboam on the third day, as the king spake, saying, `Return unto me on the third day.'

Тогава Еровоам и всичките люде дойдоха при Ровоама на третия ден, според както царят бе говорил, казвайки: Върнете се при мене на третия ден.

13 A nd the king answereth them sharply, and king Rehoboam forsaketh the counsel of the aged men,

И царят им отговори остро, като остави цар Ровоам съвета на старейшините,

14 a nd speaketh unto them according to the counsel of the lads, saying, `My father made your yoke heavy, and I -- I add unto it; my father chastised you with whips, and I -- with scorpions.'

и говори им по съвета на младежите, та каза: Баща ми направи тежък хомота ви, но аз ще му приложа; баща ми ви наказа с бичове, но аз <ще ви накажа> със скорпии.

15 A nd the king hath not hearkened unto the people, for the revolution hath been from God, for the sake of Jehovah's establishing His word that He spake by the hand of Abijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam son of Nebat.

Така царят не послуша людете; защото това нещо стана от Бога, за да изпълни словото, което Господ бе говорил чрез силонеца Ахия на Еровоама Наватовия син.

16 A nd all Israel have seen that the king hath not hearkened to them, and the people send back the king, saying, `What portion have we in David? yea, there is no inheritance in a son of Jesse; each to thy tents, O Israel; now, see thy house -- David,' and all Israel go to their tents.

А като видя целият Израил, че царят не ги послуша, людете в отговор на царя рекоха: Какъв дял имаме ние в Давида? Никакво наследство нямаме в Есеевия син! Всеки в шатрите си, Израилю! Промишлявай сега, Давиде, за дома си. И така целият Израил си отиде в шатрите.

17 A s to the sons of Israel who are dwelling in the cities of Judah -- Rehoboam reigneth over them.

А колкото за израилтяните, които живееха в Юдовите градове, Ровоам царуваше над тях.

18 A nd king Rehoboam sendeth Hadoram, who over the tribute, and the sons of Israel cast at him stones, and he dieth; and king Rehoboam hath strengthened himself to go up into a chariot to flee to Jerusalem;

Тогава цар Ровоам прати <при другите израилтяни> Адорама, който бе над набора; но израилтяните го биха с камъни, та умря. Затова цар Ровоам побърза да се качи на колесницата си за да побегне в Ерусалим.

19 a nd Israel transgress against the house of David unto this day.

Така Израил въстана против Давидовия дом, <и остава въстанал> до днес.
