1 A nd Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, saith unto Ahab, `Jehovah, God of Israel, liveth, before whom I have stood, there is not these years dew and rain, except according to my word.'

А тесвиецът Илия, който бе от галаадските жители, рече на Ахаава: <В името на> живия Господ, Израилевия Бог, Комуто служа, <заявявам ти че> през тия години няма да падне роса или дъжд освен чрез дума от мене.

2 A nd the word of Jehovah is unto him, saying,

И Господното слово дойде към него и рече:

3 ` Go from this; and thou hast turned for thee eastward, and been hidden by the brook Cherith, that on the front of the Jordan,

Иди от тука, обърни се към изток, и скрий се при потока Херит, който е срещу Иордан.

4 a nd it hath been, from the brook thou dost drink, and the ravens I have commanded to sustain thee there.'

Ще пиеш от потока; а на враните заповядах да те хранят там.

5 A nd he goeth and doth according to the word of Jehovah, yea, he goeth and dwelleth by the brook Cherith, that on the front of the Jordan,

И той отиде та стори според Господното слово; защото отиде и седна при потока Херит, който е срещу Иордан.

6 a nd the ravens are bringing to him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening, and of the brook he drinketh.

И враните му донасяха хляб и месо заран, и хляб и месо вечер; а той пиеше от потока.

7 A nd it cometh to pass, at the end of days, that the brook drieth up, for there hath been no rain in the land,

А след известно време потокът пресъхна, понеже не валя дъжд по земята.

8 a nd the word of Jehovah is unto him, saying,

Тогава Господното слово дойде към него и рече:

9 ` Rise, go to Zarephath, that to Zidon, and thou hast dwelt there; lo, I have commanded there a widow woman to sustain thee.'

Стани, иди в Сарепта сидонска и седи там; ето, заповядах на една вдовица там, да те храни.

10 A nd he riseth, and goeth to Zarephath, and cometh in unto the opening of the city, and lo there, a widow woman gathering sticks, and he calleth unto her, and saith, `Bring, I pray thee, to me, a little water in a vessel, and I drink.'

И тъй, той стана та отиде в Сарепта. И като дойде при градската порта, ето там една вдовица, която събираше дърва; и той извика към нея и рече: Донеси ми, моля, малко вода в съд да пия.

11 A nd she goeth to bring, and he calleth unto her and saith, `Bring, I pray thee, to me a morsel of bread in thy hand.'

И като отиваше да донесе, той извика към нея и рече: Донеси ми, моля, и залък хляб в ръката си.

12 A nd she saith, `Jehovah thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but the fulness of the hand of meal in a pitcher, and a little oil in a dish; and lo, I am gathering two sticks, and have gone in and prepared it for myself, and for my son, and we have eaten it -- and died.'

А тя рече: <Заклевам се в> живота на Господа твоя Бог, нямам ни една пита, но само една шепа брашно в делвата и малко дървено масло в стомната и, ето, събирам две дръвчета, за да ида и да го приготвя за мене и за сина ми да го изядем и да умрем.

13 A nd Elijah saith unto her, `Fear not, go, do according to thy word, only make for me thence a little cake, in the first place, and thou hast brought out to me; and for thee and for thy son make -- last;

А Илия й рече: Не бой се; иди, стори както каза; но омеси от него първо за мене една малка пита та ми донеси, а после приготви за себе си и за сина си;

14 f or thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, The pitcher of meal is not consumed, and the dish of oil is not lacking, till the day of Jehovah's giving a shower on the face of the ground.'

защото така казва Господ Израилевият Бог: Делвата с брашното няма да се изпразни, нито стомната с маслото ще намалее, до деня, когато Господ даде дъжд на земята.

15 A nd she goeth, and doth according to the word of Elijah, and she eateth, she and he, and her household -- days;

И тя отиде та стори според каквото каза Илия; и тя и той и домът й ядоха <много> дни.

16 t he pitcher of meal was not consumed, and the dish of oil did not lack, according to the word of Jehovah that He spake by the hand of Elijah.

Делвата с брашното не се изпразни, нито стомната с маслото намаля, според словото, което Господ говори чрез Илия.

17 A nd it cometh to pass, after these things, the son of the woman, mistress of the house, hath been sick, and his sickness is very severe till that no breath hath been left in him.

А след това, синът на жената, домакинята, се разболя; и болестта му бе тъй тежка, щото не остана дишане в него.

18 A nd she saith unto Elijah, `What -- to me and to thee, O man of God? thou hast come unto me to cause mine iniquity to be remembered, and to put my son to death!'

Тогава тя рече на Илия: Какво има между мене и тебе, Божий човече? Дошъл ли си при мене, за да ми припомниш греховете и да умориш сина ми?

19 A nd he saith unto her, `Give to me thy son;' and he taketh him out of her bosom, and taketh him up unto the upper chamber where he is abiding, and layeth him on his own bed,

А той й каза: Дай ми сина си. И като го взе от пазухата й та го изнесе на горната стая, гдето живееше, положи го на леглото си.

20 a nd crieth unto Jehovah, and saith, `Jehovah my God, also on the widow with whom I am sojourning hast Thou done evil -- to put her son to death?'

И извика към Господа и рече: Господи Боже мой! нанесъл ли си зло и на вдовицата, при която живея, като си уморил сина й?

21 A nd he stretcheth himself out on the lad three times, and calleth unto Jehovah, and saith, `O Jehovah my God, let turn back, I pray Thee, the soul of this lad into his midst;'

Тогава той се простря три пъти върху детето, и извика към Господа, казвайки: Господи Боже мой, моля Ти се, нека се върне душата на това дете в него.

22 a nd Jehovah hearkeneth to the voice of Elijah, and the soul of the lad turneth back into his midst, and he liveth.

И Господ послуша Илиевия глас, та се върна душата на детето в него и то оживя.

23 A nd Elijah taketh the lad, and bringeth him down from the upper chamber of the house, and giveth him to his mother, and Elijah saith, `See, thy son liveth!'

Тогава Илия взе детето та го занесе от горната стая в къщата и даде го на майка му; и Илия рече: Виж, синът ти е жив.

24 A nd the woman saith unto Elijah, `Now, this I have known, that a man of God thou, and the word of Jehovah in thy mouth truth.'

И жената каза на Илия: Сега познавам, че си Божий човек, и че Господното слово, което говориш, е истина.
