1 A t that time did Herod the tetrarch hear the fame of Jesus,

В онова време четверовластникът Ирод чу слуха, <който се носеше> за Исуса;

2 a nd said to his servants, `This is John the Baptist, he did rise from the dead, and because of this the mighty energies are working in him.'

и рече на слугите си: Тоя е Иоан Кръстител; той е възкръснал от мъртвите, и затова тия сили действуват чрез него.

3 F or Herod having laid hold on John, did bind him, and did put him in prison, because of Herodias his brother Philip's wife,

Защото Ирод беше хванал Иоана и беше го вързал и турил в тъмница, поради Иродиада, жената на брат си Филипа;

4 f or John was saying to him, `It is not lawful to thee to have her,'

понеже Иоан му казваше: Не ти е позволено да я имаш.

5 a nd, willing to kill him, he feared the multitude, because as a prophet they were holding him.

И искаше да го убие, но се боеше от народа, защото го имаха за пророк.

6 B ut the birthday of Herod being kept, the daughter of Herodias danced in the midst, and did please Herod,

А когато настана рожденият ден на Ирода, Иродиадината дъщеря игра всред <събраните> и угоди на Ирода.

7 w hereupon with an oath he professed to give her whatever she might ask.

Затова той с клетва се обеща да й даде каквото и да му поиска.

8 A nd she having been instigated by her mother -- `Give me (says she) here upon a plate the head of John the Baptist;

А тя, подучена от майка си, каза: Дай ми тука на блюдо главата на Иоана Кръстителя.

9 a nd the king was grieved, but because of the oaths and of those reclining with him, he commanded to be given;

Царят се наскърби; но заради клетвите си, и заради седящите с него, заповяда да й се даде.

10 a nd having sent, he beheaded John in the prison,

И прати да обезглавят Иоана в тъмницата.

11 a nd his head was brought upon a plate, and was given to the damsel, and she brought nigh to her mother.

И донесоха главата му на блюдо и дадоха я на девойката, а тя я занесе на майка си.

12 A nd his disciples having come, took up the body, and buried it, and having come, they told Jesus,

А учениците му като дойдоха, дигнаха тялото и го погребаха; и отидоха и казаха на Исуса.

13 a nd Jesus having heard, withdrew thence in a boat to a desolate place by himself, and the multitudes having heard did follow him on land from the cities.

И Исус, като чу <това>, оттегли се оттам, с ладия на уединено място настрана; а народът като разбра, отиде подир него пеша от градовете.

14 A nd Jesus having come forth, saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion upon them, and did heal their infirm;

И Той, като излезе, видя голямо множество, смили се за тях, и изцели болните им.

15 a nd evening having come, his disciples came to him, saying, `The place is desolate, and the hour hath now past, let away the multitudes that, having gone to the villages, they may buy to themselves food.'

А като се свечери, учениците дойдоха при Него, и рекоха: Мястото е уединено, и времето е вече напреднало; разпусни народа да отиде по селата да си купи храна.

16 A nd Jesus said to them, `They have no need to go away -- give ye them to eat.'

А Исус им рече: Няма нужда да отидат; дайте им вие да ядат.

17 A nd they say to him, `We have not here except five loaves, and two fishes.'

А те Му казаха: Имаме тук само пет хляба и две риби.

18 A nd he said, `Bring ye them to me hither.'

А Той рече: Донесете ги тук при Мене.

19 A nd having commanded the multitudes to recline upon the grass, and having taken the five loaves and the two fishes, having looked up to the heaven, he did bless, and having broken, he gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes,

Тогава, като заповяда на народа да насяда на тревата, взе петте хляба и двете риби, погледна към небето и благослови; и като разчупи хлябовете, даде ги на учениците, а учениците на народа.

20 a nd they did all eat, and were filled, and they took up what was over of the broken pieces twelve hand-baskets full;

И всички ядоха и се наситиха; и дигнаха останалите къшеи, дванадесет пълни коша.

21 a nd those eating were about five thousand men, apart from women and children.

А ония, които ядоха, бяха около пет хиляди мъже, освен жени и деца.

22 A nd immediately Jesus constrained his disciples to go into the boat, and to go before him to the other side, till he might let away the multitudes;

И на часа <Исус> накара учениците да влязат в ладията и да отидат преди Него на отвъдната страна, докле разпусне народа.

23 a nd having let away the multitudes, he went up to the mountain by himself to pray, and evening having come, he was there alone,

И като разпусна народа, изкачи се на бърдото да се помоли на саме. И като се свечери, Той беше там сам.

24 a nd the boat was now in the midst of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.

А ладията бе вече всред езерото, блъскана от вълните, защото вятърът беше противен.

25 A nd in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went away to them, walking upon the sea,

А в четвъртата стража на нощта Той дойде към тях, като вървеше по езерото.

26 a nd the disciples having seen him walking upon the sea, were troubled saying -- `It is an apparition,' and from the fear they cried out;

И учениците, като Го видяха да ходи по езерото, смутиха се и думаха, че е призрак, и от страх извикаха.

27 a nd immediately Jesus spake to them, saying, `Be of good courage, I am, be not afraid.'

А Исус веднага им проговори, казвайки: Дерзайте! Аз съм; не бойте се.

28 A nd Peter answering him said, `Sir, if it is thou, bid me come to thee upon the waters;'

И Петър в отговор Му рече: Господи, ако си Ти, кажи ми да дойда при Тебе по водата.

29 a nd he said, `Come;' and having gone down from the boat, Peter walked upon the waters to come unto Jesus,

А Той рече: Дойди. И Петър слезе от ладията и ходеше по водата да иде при Исуса.

30 b ut seeing the wind vehement, he was afraid, and having begun to sink, he cried out, saying, `Sir, save me.'

Но като виждаше вятъра, уплаши се и, като потъваше, извика, казвайки: Господи избави ме!

31 A nd immediately Jesus, having stretched forth the hand, laid hold of him, and saith to him, `Little faith! for what didst thou waver?'

И Исус веднага простря ръка, хвана го, и му рече: Маловерецо, защо се усъмни?

32 a nd they having gone to the boat the wind lulled,

И като влязоха в ладията, вятърът утихна.

33 a nd those in the boat having come, did bow to him, saying, `Truly -- God's Son art thou.'

А ония, които бяха в ладията, Му се поклониха и казаха: Наистина Ти си Божий Син.

34 A nd having passed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret,

И като преминаха <езерото>, дойдоха в генисаретската земя.

35 a nd having recognized him, the men of that place sent forth to all that region round about, and they brought to him all who were ill,

И когато Го познаха тамошните мъже, разпратиха по цялата оная околност и доведоха при Него всичките болни;

36 a nd were calling on him that they might only touch the fringe of his garment, and as many as did touch were saved.

и молеха Го да се допрат само до полата на дрехата Му; и колкото се допряха, се изцелиха.
