1 I n the twenty and third year of Joash son of Ahaziah king of Judah, hath Jehoahaz son of Jehu reigned over Israel, in Samaria -- seventeen years,

В двадесет и третата година на Юдовия цар Иоас, Охозиевия син, се възцари Иохаз, Ииуевият син, над Израиля в Самария, <и царува> седемнадесет години.

2 a nd he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and goeth after the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, that he caused Israel to sin -- he turned not aside from it,

Той върши зло пред Господа, като последва греховете на Еровоама, Наватовия син, с които направи Израиля да греши; не се остави от тях.

3 a nd the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He giveth them into the hand of Hazael king of Aram, and into the hand of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael, all the days.

Затова гневът на Господа пламна против Израиля, и Той постоянно ги предаваше в ръката на сирийския цар Азаила, и в ръката на Венадада, Азаиловия син.

4 A nd Jehoahaz appeaseth the face of Jehovah, and Jehovah hearkeneth unto him, for He hath seen the oppression of Israel, for oppressed them hath the king of Aram, --

Тогава Иоахаз се помоли Господу; и Господ го послуша, защото видя притеснението на Израиля, как сирийският цар ги притесняваше.

5 a nd Jehovah giveth to Israel a saviour, and they go out from under the hand of Aram, and the sons of Israel dwell in their tents as heretofore;

(И Господ даде избавител на Израиля, така щото се отърваха изпод ръката на сирийците, та израилтяните живееха в жилищата си, както по-напред;

6 o nly, they have not turned aside from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, that he caused Israel to sin, therein they walked, and also, the shrine hath remained in Samaria, --

обаче не се оставиха от греховете на дома на Еровоама, с които направи Израиля да греши, а в тях ходиха; и ашерата още стоеше в Самария).

7 f or he left not to Jehoahaz of the people except fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen, for the king of Aram hath destroyed them, and maketh them as dust for threshing.

Защото <сирийският цар> не беше оставил на Иоахаза от людете повече от петдесет конници, десет колесници и десет хиляди пешаци; защото сирийският цар беше ги погубил и беше ги направил като стъпкана пръст.

8 A nd the rest of the matters of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

А останалите дела на Иоахаза, и всичко що извърши и юначествата му, не са ли написани в Книгата на летописите на Израилевите царе?

9 A nd Jehoahaz lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in Samaria, and reign doth Joash his son in his stead.

И Иоахаз заспа с бащите си, и погребаха го в Самария; а вместо него се възцари син му Иоас.

10 I n the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah reigned hath Jehoash son of Jehoahaz over Israel, in Samaria -- sixteen years,

В тридесет и седмата година на Юдовия цар Иоас, се възцари Иоас, Иоахазовият син, над Израиля в Самария, <и царува> шестнадесет години.

11 a nd he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, he hath not turned aside from all the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, that he caused Israel to sin, therein he walked.

Той върши зло пред Господа; не се остави ни от един от греховете на Еровоама, Наватовия син, с които направи Израиля да греши, а в тях ходи.

12 A nd the rest of the matters of Joash, and all that he did, and his might with which he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

А останалите дела на Иоаса, и всичко що извърши и юначеството, с което воюва против Юдовия цар Амасия, не са ли написани в Книгата на летописите на Израилевите царе?

13 A nd Joash lieth with his fathers, and Jeroboam hath sat on his throne, and Joash is buried in Samaria, with the kings of Israel.

И Иоас заспа с бащите си; а на престола му седна Еровоам. А Иоас биде погребан в Самария с Израилевите царе.

14 A nd Elisha hath been sick with his sickness in which he dieth, and come down unto him doth Joash king of Israel, and weepeth on his face, and saith, `My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and its horsemen.'

В това време Елисей се разболя от болестта, от която умря. И Израилевият цар слезе при него та плака над него, като рече: Татко мой! татко мой! колесница Израилева и конница негова!

15 A nd Elisha saith to him, `Take bow and arrows:' and he taketh unto him bow and arrows.

А Елисей му каза: Вземи лък и стрели. И той си взе лък и стрели.

16 A nd he saith to the king of Israel, `Place thy hand on the bow;' and he placeth his hand, and Elisha putteth his hands on the hands of the king,

Тогава рече на Израилевия цар: Тури ръката си на лъка. И като тури ръката си, Елисей положи ръцете си върху ръцете на царя и рече:

17 a nd saith, `Open the window eastward;' and he openeth, and Elisha saith, `Shoot,' and he shooteth; and he saith, `An arrow of salvation to Jehovah, and an arrow of salvation against Aram, and thou hast smitten Aram, in Aphek, till consuming.'

Отвори източния прозорец. И той го отвори. И рече Елисей: Стреляй. И той устрели. И рече: Стрелата на Господното спасение! да! стрелата на избавлението от сирийците! защото ще поразиш сирийците в Афек докле ги довършиш.

18 A nd he saith, `Take the arrows,' and he taketh; and he saith to the king of Israel, `Smite to the earth;' and he smiteth three times, and stayeth.

Рече още: Вземи стрелите. И той ги взе. Тогава рече на израилевия цар: Удряй на земята. И той удари три пъти, и престана.

19 A nd the man of God is wroth against him, and saith, `By smiting five or six times then thou hadst smitten Aram till consuming; and now, three times thou dost smite Aram.'

А Божият човек се разсърди на него, и рече: Трябваше да удариш пет или шест пъти; тогава щеше да удариш сирийците докле ги довършиш: но сега само три пъти ще поразиш сирийците.

20 A nd Elisha dieth, and they bury him, and troops of Moab come in to the land, at the coming in of the year,

И Елисей умря, и погребаха го. А в следната година някои моавски чети опустошаваха земята.

21 a nd it cometh to pass, they are burying a man, and lo, they have seen the troop, and cast the man into the grave of Elisha, and the man goeth and cometh against the bones of Elisha, and liveth, and riseth on his feet.

И <неколцина израилтяни> като погребваха един човек, ето, видяха чета; затова хвърлиха човека в гроба на Елисея. А щом стигна човекът та досегна Елисеевите кости, оживя и се изправи на краката си.

22 A nd Hazael king of Aram hath oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz,

И сирийският цар Азаил притесняваше Израиля през всичките дни на Иоахаза.

23 a nd Jehovah doth favour them, and pity them, and turn unto them, for the sake of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and hath not been willing to destroy them, nor to cast them from His presence as yet.

Но Господ им показа милост, пожали ги и ги прегледа заради завета Си с Авраама, Исаака и Якова; и отказа да ги изтреби, и не ги отхвърли още от присъствието Си;

24 A nd Hazael king of Aram dieth, and reign doth Ben-Hadad his son in his stead,

защото, като умря сирийският цар Азаил, и вместо него се възцари син му Венадад,

25 a nd Jehoash son of Jehoahaz turneth and taketh the cities out of the hand of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael that he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father in war; three times hath Joash smitten him, and he bringeth back the cities of Israel.

Иоас, Иоахазовият син, взе обратно от ръката на Венадада, Азаиловия син, градовете, които <Азаил> беше отнел от ръката на баща му Иоахаза във война. Три пъти го порази Иоас, и взе обратно Израилевите градове.
