1 A nd sons of the prophet say unto Elisha, `Lo, we pray thee, the place where we are dwelling before thee is too strait for us;

И пророческите ученици казаха на Елисея: Ето сега, мястото, гдето живеем <та внимаваме> пред тебе е тясно за нас.

2 l et us go, we pray thee, unto the Jordan, and we take thence each one beam, and we make for ourselves there a place to dwell there;' and he saith, `Go.'

Нека отидем, молим, до Иордан, и от там да вземем всеки по една греда, и да си построим там място, гдето да живеем. А той отговори: Идете.

3 A nd the one saith, `Be pleased, I pray thee, and go with thy servants;' and he saith, `I -- I go.'

И един <от тях> каза: Благоволи, моля, да дойдеш и ти със слугите си. И той отговори: Ще дойда.

4 A nd he goeth with them, and they come in to the Jordan, and cut down the trees,

Отиде, прочее, с тях. И като стигнаха до Иордан, сечеха дървета.

5 a nd it cometh to pass, the one is felling the beam, and the iron hath fallen into the water, and he crieth and saith, `Alas! my lord, and it asked!'

А един от тях като сечеше греда, желязото падна във водата; и той извика и рече: Ах, господарю мой! то беше взето на заем!

6 A nd the man of God saith, `Whither hath it fallen?' and he sheweth him the place, and he cutteth a stick, and casteth thither, and causeth the iron to swim,

А Божият човек рече: Где падна? И показа му мястото. Тогава той отсече едно дръвце та го хвърли там; и желязото изплава.

7 a nd saith, `Raise to thee;' and he putteth forth his hand and taketh it.

И рече: Вземи си го. И той простря ръка та го взе.

8 A nd the king of Aram hath been fighting against Israel, and taketh counsel with his servants, saying, `At such and such a place my encamping.'

А сирийският цар, като воюваше против Израиля, съветваше се със слугите си, та каза: На еди-кое-си място ще разположа стана си.

9 A nd the man of God sendeth unto the king of Israel, saying, `Take heed of passing by this place, for thither are the Aramaeans coming down;

Тогава Божият човек прати до Израилевия цар да кажат: Пази се да не минеш през това място, защото сирийците са слезли там.

10 a nd the king of Israel sendeth unto the place of which the man of God spake to him, and warned him, and he is preserved there not once nor twice.

И Израилевият цар прати до мястото, за което Божият човек му каза и го предупреди; и опази се от там не еднъж, нито дваж.

11 A nd the heart of the king of Aram is tossed about concerning this thing, and he calleth unto his servants, and saith unto them, `Do ye not declare to me who of us for the king of Israel?'

И сърцето на сирийския цар се смути поради това нещо; за туй свика слугите си та им каза: Не щете ли да ми обадите, кой от нашите е за Израилевия цар?

12 A nd one of his servants saith, `Nay, my lord, O king, for Elisha the prophet, who in Israel, declareth to the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in the inner part of thy bed-chamber.'

А един от слугите му каза: Никой, господарю мой царю; но пророкът, който е в Израиля, Елисей, известява на Израилевия цар думите, които говориш в спалнята си.

13 A nd he saith, `Go ye and see where he, and I send and take him;' and it is declared to him, saying, `Lo -- in Dothan.'

И рече: Идете, научете се где е, за да пратя да го заловят. И известиха му казвайки: Ето, в Дотан е.

14 A nd he sendeth thither horses and chariot, and a heavy force, and they come in by night, and go round against the city.

Тогава той прати там коне, колесници и голяма войска, които дойдоха през нощта и обиколиха града.

15 A nd the servant of the man of God riseth early, and goeth out, and lo, a force is surrounding the city, and horse and chariot, and his young man saith unto him, `Alas! my lord, how do we do?'

И на сутринта, когато слугата на Божия човек стана та излезе, ето, войска с коне и колесници беше обиколила града. И рече му слугата му: Ах, господарю мой! Какво ще правим?

16 A nd he saith, `Fear not, for more they who with us than they who with them.'

А той отговори: Не бой се, защото ония, които са с нас, важат повече от ония, които са с тях.

17 A nd Elisha prayeth, and saith, `Jehovah, open, I pray Thee, his eyes, and he doth see;' and Jehovah openeth the eyes of the young man, and he seeth, and lo, the hill is full of horses and chariots of fire, round about Elisha.

И помоли се Елисей, казвайки: Моля Ти се, Господи, отвори му очите за да види. И Господ отвори очите на слугата та видя, и, ето, хълмът бе пълен с огнени коне и колесници около Елисея.

18 A nd they come down unto it, and Elisha prayeth unto Jehovah, and saith, `Smite, I pray Thee, this nation with blindness;' and He smiteth them with blindness, according to the word of Elisha.

И когато слязоха към <врага>, Елисей се помоли Господу казвайки: Моля Ти се, порази тия люде със слепота. И порази ги със слепота, според както каза Елисей.

19 A nd Elisha saith unto them, `This not the way, nor this the city; come after me, and I lead you unto the man whom ye seek;' and he leadeth them to Samaria.

Тогава Елисей им рече: Не е тоя пътят, нито е тоя градът; дойдете подир мене, и ще ви заведа при човека, когото търсите. И отведе ги в Самария.

20 A nd it cometh to pass, at their coming in to Samaria, that Elisha saith, `Jehovah, open the eyes of these, and they see;' and Jehovah openeth their eyes, and they see, and lo, in the midst of Samaria!

И когато стигнаха в Самария, Елисей рече: Господи, отвори очите на тези за да видят. И Господ отвори очите им, та видяха; и, ето, бяха всред Самария.

21 A nd the king of Israel saith unto Elisha, at his seeing them, `Do I smite -- do I smite -- my father?'

А когато ги видя, Израилевият цар рече на Елисея: Да ги поразя ли, татко? да ги поразя ли?

22 A nd he saith, `Thou dost not smite; those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow art thou smiting? set bread and water before them, and they eat, and drink, and go unto their lord.'

А той отговори: Не ги поразявай. Поразил ли би ти ония, които би пленил с меча си и с лъка си? Сложи им хляб и вода, за да ядат и пият; и нека отидат при господаря си.

23 A nd he prepareth for them great provision, and they eat and drink, and he sendeth them away, and they go unto their lord: and troops of Aram have not added any more to come in to the land of Israel.

И така, той им сложи много ястия; и след като ядоха и пиха, пусна ги, та отидоха при господаря си. И сирийските чети не дойдоха вече в Израилевата земя.

24 A nd it cometh to pass afterwards, that Ben-Hadad king of Aram gathereth all his camp, and goeth up, and layeth siege to Samaria,

А след това, сирийският цар Венадад събра цялата си войска и дойде та обсади Самария.

25 a nd there is a great famine in Samaria, and lo, they are laying siege to it, till the head of an ass is at eighty silverlings, and a forth of the cab of dovesdung at five silverlings.

И стана голям глад в Самария; защото, ето, обсаждаха я докле една оселова глава се продаваше за осемдесет сребърника, и четвърт кав гълъбова тор, за пет сребърника.

26 A nd it cometh to pass, the king of Israel is passing by on the wall, and a woman hath cried unto him, saying, `Save, my lord, O king.'

И като заминаваше Израилевият цар по стената, една жена извика към него и каза: Помогни, господарю мой, царю!

27 A nd he saith, `Jehovah doth not save thee -- whence do I save thee? out of the threshing-floor, or out of the wine-vat?'

А той рече: Ако Господ не ти помогне, от где ще ти помогна аз? от гумното ли, или от лина?

28 A nd the king saith to her, `What -- to thee?' and she saith, `This woman said unto me, Give thy son, and we eat him to-day, and my son we eat to-morrow;

И царят й рече: Що имаш? А тя отговори: Тая жена ми рече: Дай твоя син да го изядем днес, а утре ще изядем моя син.

29 a nd we boil my son and eat him, and I say unto her on the next day, Give thy son, and we eat him; and she hideth her son.'

И тъй сварихме моя син та го изядохме; и на следния ден й рекох: Дай твоя син да го изядем; а тя скри сина си.

30 A nd it cometh to pass, at the king's hearing the words of the woman, that he rendeth his garments, and he is passing by on the wall, and the people see, and lo, the sackcloth on his flesh within.

И като чу царят думите на жената, раздра дрехите си; и като минаваше по стената, людете видяха, и, ето, извътре имаше вретище върху снагата му.

31 A nd he saith, `Thus doth God do to me, and thus He doth add -- if it remain -- the head of Elisha son of Shaphat -- upon him this day.'

Тогава рече: Така да ми направи Бог, да! и повече да притури, ако главата на Елисея, Сафатовия син, остане на него днес.

32 A nd Elisha is sitting in his house, and the elders are sitting with him, and sendeth a man from before him; before the messenger doth come unto him, even he himself said unto the elders, `Have ye seen that this son of the murderer hath sent to turn aside my head? see, at the coming in of the messenger, shut the door, and ye have held him fast at the door, is not the sound of the feet of his lord behind him?'

А когато изпрати мъж от служащите му, Елисей седеше в къщата си и старейшините седяха с него; но преди да стигне пратеникът при него, той рече на старейшините: Виждате ли как тоя син на убийцата прати да ми отнемат главата? Гледайте, щом дойде пратеникът, затворете вратата и спрете го при вратата; тропота на нозете на господаря му не е ли подир него?

33 H e is yet speaking with them, and lo, the messenger is coming down unto him, and he saith, `Lo, this the evil from Jehovah: what -- do I wait for Jehovah any more?'

И докато още говореше с тях, ето, пратеникът слезе при него; <а царят го превари> и каза: Ето, от Господа е това зло; какво има да се надея вече на Господа?
