1 A son of eight years Josiah in his reigning, and thirty and one years he hath reigned in Jerusalem,

Иосия бе осем години на възраст когато се възцари, и царува в Ерусалим тридесет и една година.

2 a nd he doth that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah, and walketh in the ways of David his father, and hath not turned aside -- right or left.

Той върши това, което бе право пред Господа, като ходи в пътищата на баща си Давида, без да се отклони на дясно или на ляво.

3 A nd in the eighth year of his reign (and he yet a youth), he hath begun to seek to the God of David his father, and in the twelfth year he hath begun to cleanse Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the shrines, and the graven images, and the molten images.

В осмата година на царуването си, като бе още млад, почна да търси Бога на баща си Давида; а в дванадесетата година почна да чисти Юда и Ерусалим от високите места, от ашерите, от ваяните идоли, и от леяните.

4 A nd they break down before him the altars of the Baalim, and the images that on high above them he hath cut down, and the shrines, and the graven images, and the molten images, he hath broken and beaten small, and streweth on the surface of the graves of those sacrificing to them,

В неговото присъствие събориха жертвениците на ваалимите; и изсече кумирите на слънцето, които бяха върху тях, и сломи ашерите и ваяните и леяните идоли, и като ги стри на прах, разпръсна го върху гробовете на ония, които бяха им жертвували.

5 a nd the bones of the priests he hath burnt on their altars, and cleanseth Judah and Jerusalem,

Изгори и костите на жреците на жертвениците им, и <така> очисти Юда и Ерусалим.

6 a nd in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, with their tools, round about.

<Същото направи> и в градовете на Манасия, Ефрема и Симеона, и дори до Нефталима, всред околните им развалини;

7 A nd he breaketh down the altars and the shrines, and the graven images he hath beaten down very small, and all the images he hath cut down in all the land of Israel, and turneth back to Jerusalem.

събори жертвениците, стри на прах ашерите и ваяните идоли, и изсече всичките кумири на слънцето по цялата Израилева земя. Тогава се върна в Ерусалим.

8 A nd in the eighteenth year of his reign, to purify the land and the house he hath sent Shaphan son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah head of the city, and Joah son of Johaz the remembrancer, to strengthen the house of Jehovah his God.

А в осемнадесетата година на царуването си, когато беше очистил земята и <Божия> дом, прати Сафана, Азалиевия син, и градския началник Маасия, и летописеца Иоах, син на Иоахаза, за да поправят дома на Господа неговия Бог.

9 A nd they come in unto Hilkiah the high priest, and they give the money that is brought in to the house of God, that the Levites, keeping the threshold, have gathered from the hand of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and from all the remnant of Israel, and from all Judah, and Benjamin, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem,

И те отидоха при първосвещеника Хелкия, та предадоха парите внесени в Божия дом, които вратарите левити бяха събрали от Манасия и Ефрема, и от всички останали от Израил, и от целия Юда и Вениамина, и от жителите на Ерусалим.

10 a nd they give into the hand of the workmen, those appointed over the house of Jehovah, and they give it the workmen who are working in the house of Jehovah, to repair and to strengthen the house;

Предадоха ги в ръката на работниците, които надзираваха Господния дом; а те ги дадоха на работниците, които работеха в Господния дом, за да поправят и обновят дома, -

11 a nd they give to artificers, and to builders, to buy hewn stones, and wood for couplings and for beams to the houses that the kings of Judah had destroyed.

дадоха ги на дърводелците и на зидарите, за да купят дялани камъни и дървета за греди, и да поправят зданията, които Юдовите царе бяха съборили.

12 A nd the men are working faithfully in the business, and over them are appointed Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari, and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathite, to overlook; and of the Levites, every one understanding about instruments of song,

И мъжете вършеха работата честно; а надзирателите над тях бяха левитите Яат и Авдия от Мерариевите потомци, Захария и Месулам от Каатовите потомци, за да настояват, а от <другите> левити всички изкусни свирачи на музикални инструменти.

13 a nd over the burden-bearers, and overseers of every one doing work for service and service; and of the Levites scribes, and officers, and gatekeepers.

Имаше още и настойници над бременосците и над всички, които работеха в каква да било работа; а някои от левитите бяха писари, надзиратели и вратари.

14 A nd in their bringing out the money that is brought in to the house of Jehovah, hath Hilkiah the priest found the book of the law of Jehovah by the hand of Moses,

А като изнасяха внесените в Господния дом пари, свещеник Хелкия намери книгата на Господния закон <даден> чрез Моисея.

15 a nd Hilkiah answereth and saith unto Shaphan the scribe, `A book of the law I have found in the house of Jehovah;' and Hilkiah giveth the book unto Shaphan,

И Хелкия проговаряйки рече на секретаря Сафан: Намерих книгата на закона в Господния дом. И Хелкия даде книгата на Сафана.

16 a nd Shaphan bringeth in the book unto the king, and bringeth the king back word again, saying, `All that hath been given into the hand of thy servants they are doing,

А Сафан донесе книгата на царя, занесе и дума на царя, казвайки: Слугите ти вършат всичко, що им е определено;

17 a nd they pour out the money that is found in the house of Jehovah, and give it into the hand of those appointed, and into the hands of those doing the work.'

и събраха намерените в Господния дом пари, и ги предадоха в ръката на настоятелите и в ръката на работниците.

18 A nd Shaphan the scribe declareth to the king, saying, `A book hath Hilkiah the priest given to me;' and Shaphan readeth in it before the king.

Тоже секретарят Сафан извести на царя, казвайки: Свещеник Хелкия ми даде една книга. И Сафан я прочете пред царя.

19 A nd it cometh to pass, at the king's hearing the words of the law, that he rendeth his garments,

А царят, като чу думите на закона, раздра дрехите си.

20 a nd the king commandeth Hilkiah, and Ahikam son of Shaphan, and Abdon son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah, servant of the king, saying,

И царят заповяда на Хелкия, на Ахикама Сафановия син, на Авдона {В 4 Цар. 22: 12, Аховор.}, Михеевия син, на секретаря Сафан и на царевия слуга Асаия, казвайки:

21 ` Go, seek Jehovah for me, and for him who is left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found, for great the fury of Jehovah that is poured on us, because that our fathers kept not the word of Jehovah, to do according to all that is written on this book.'

Идете, допитайте се до Господа за мене и за останалите в Израиля и в Юда, относно думите на намерената книга; защото голям е Господният гняв, който се изля на нас, понеже бащите ни не опазиха Господното слово да постъпват напълно според както е писано в тая книга.

22 A nd Hilkiah goeth, and they of the king, unto Huldah the prophetess, wife of Shallum son of Tikvath, son of Hasrah, keeper of the garments, and she is dwelling in Jerusalem in the Second, and they speak unto her thus.

И така, Хелкия и ония, които царят <беше определил>, отидоха при пророчицата Олда, жена на одеждопазителя Селум, син на Текуя, Арасовия син. А тя живееше в Ерусалим, във втория участък; и те й говориха според поръчаното.

23 A nd she saith to them, `Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Say to the man who hath sent you unto me,

И тя им рече: Така казва Господ Израилевият Бог: Кажете на човека, който ви е пратил до мене:

24 T hus said Jehovah, Lo, I am bringing in evil on this place, and on its inhabitants, all the execrations that are written on the book that they read before the king of Judah;

Така казва Господ: Ето, Аз ще докарам зло на това място и на жителите му, всичките проклетии написани в книгата, която прочетоха пред Юдовия цар.

25 b ecause that they have forsaken Me, and make perfume to other gods, so as to provoke Me with all the works of their hands, and poured out is My fury upon this place, and it is not quenched.

Понеже Ме оставиха и кадяха на други богове, та Ме разгневиха с всичките си дела на ръцете си, затова гневът Ми ще се излее на това място, и няма да угасне.

26 ` And unto the king of Judah, who is sending you to inquire of Jehovah, thus do ye say unto him: Thus said Jehovah God of Israel, whose words thou hast heard:

Но на Юдовия цар, който ви прати да се допитате до Господа, така да му кажете: Така казва Господ Израилевият Бог: Относно думите, които ти си чул,

27 B ecause thy heart tender, and thou art humbled before God in thy hearing His words concerning this place, and concerning its inhabitants, and art humbled before Me, and dost rend thy garments, and weep before Me: even I also have heard -- the affirmation of Jehovah.

понеже сърцето ти е омекнало, и ти си се смирил пред Бога, когато си чул Неговите думи против това място и против жителите му, и ти си се смирил пред Мене, раздрал си дрехите си, и си плакал пред Мене, затова и Аз те послушах, казва Господ.

28 L o, I am gathering thee unto thy fathers, and thou hast been gathered unto thy graves in peace, and thine eyes do not look on all the evil that I am bringing upon this place, and upon its inhabitants;' and they bring the king back word.

Ето, Аз ще те прибера при бащите ти, и ще се прибереш в гроба си с мир; и твоите очи няма да видят нищо от цялото зло, което ще докарам на това място и на жителите му. И те доложиха на царя.

29 A nd the king sendeth and gathereth all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem,

Тогава царят прати та събра всичките Юдови и ерусалимски старейшини.

30 a nd the king goeth up to the house of Jehovah, and every man of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, even all the people, from great even unto small, and he readeth in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that is found in the house of Jehovah.

И царят възлезе в Господния дом, заедно с всичките Юдови мъже и ерусалимските жители, - свещениците, левитите и всичките люде от голям до малък; и прочете на всеослушание пред тях всичките думи от книгата на завета, която се намери в Господния дом.

31 A nd the king standeth on his station, and maketh the covenant before Jehovah, to walk after Jehovah, and to keep His commands, and His testimonies, and His statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to do the words of the covenant that are written on this book.

И царят застана на мястото си, та направи завет пред Господа да следва Господа, да пази заповедите Му, заявленията Му и повеленията Му с цялото си сърце и с цялата си душа, та да изпълнява думите на завета, които са написани в тая книга.

32 A nd he presenteth every one who is found in Jerusalem and Benjamin, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem do according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.

И накара всички, които се намериха в Ерусалим и във Вениамин, да потвърдят <завета>. И ерусалимските жители постъпиха според завета на Бога, Бога на бащите си.

33 A nd Josiah turneth aside all the abominations out of all the lands that the sons of Israel have, and causeth every one who is found in Israel to serve, to serve Jehovah their God; all his days they turned not aside from after Jehovah, God of their fathers.

И Иосия отмахна всичките мерзости от всичките места принадлежащи на израилтяните, и накара всички, които се намериха в Израил, да служат, да служат на Господа своя Бог; през всичките му дни те не се отклониха от следване Господа Бога на бащите си.
