1 T hat which hath been the word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah concerning the matters of the dearths:

Господното слово, което дойде към Еремия за бездъждието:

2 M ourned hath Judah, and her gates have languished, They have mourned to the earth, And the cry of Jerusalem hath gone up.

Юда ридае, и <людете в> портите му са изнемощели; Седят на земя чернооблечени; И викът на Ерусалим се издигна,

3 A nd their honourable ones have sent their little ones to the water, They have come unto ditches, They have not found water, They have turned back -- their vessels empty! They have been ashamed, And have blushed and covered their head.

Големците му пращат подчинените си за вода; Те отиват при кладенците, но не намират вода; Връщат се с празните си съдове; Посрамват се и се смущават и покриват главите си.

4 B ecause the ground hath been broken, For there hath been no rain in the land, Ashamed have been husbandmen, They have covered their head.

Понеже земята се пукна, Защото няма дъжд на земята, Затова орачите се посрамват, Покриват главите си.

5 F or even the hind in the field hath brought forth -- to forsake For there hath been no grass.

Още и кошутата ражда на полето И оставя <рожбата си> понеже няма трева.

6 A nd wild asses have stood on high places, They have swallowed up wind like dragons, Consumed have been their eyes, for there is no herb.

И дивите осли като застават по голите височини, Задушават се за въздух като чакали; Очите им чезнат понеже няма трева.

7 S urely our iniquities have testified against us, O Jehovah, work for Thy name's sake, For many have been our backslidings, Against Thee we have sinned.

Господи, при все че беззаконията ни свидетелствуват против нас, Ти действувай заради името Си; Защото отстъпничествата ни са много; На Тебе съгрешихме.

8 O Hope of Israel -- its saviour in time of trouble, Why art Thou as a sojourner in the land? And as a traveller turned aside to lodge?

Надеждо на Израиля, Спасителю негов в скръбно време, Защо да си като пришелец в <тая> страна, И като пътник отбил се да пренощува?

9 W hy art Thou as one dumb? As a mighty one not able to save? And Thou in our midst, O Jehovah, And Thy name over us is called, leave us not.

Защо да си като човек смаян, Като силен мъж, който не може да избави? Обаче Ти, Господи, си всред нас; Ние се наричаме с Твоето име; недей ни оставя.

10 T hus said Jehovah concerning this people: Well they have loved to wander, Their feet they have not restrained, And Jehovah hath not accepted them, Now doth He remember their iniquity, And inspect their sin.

Така казва Господ на тоя народ; Както обикнаха да се скитат, И не въздържаха нозете си, Така Господ не благоволи в тях; Сега ще си спомни беззаконието им, И ще накаже греховете им.

11 A nd Jehovah saith unto me: Thou dost not pray for this people for good,

И рече ми Господ: Недей се моли за доброто на тия люде.

12 W hen they fast, I hearken not unto their cry, And when they cause to ascend burnt-offering and present, I accept them not, For by sword, and by famine, And by pestilence, I am consuming them.

<Даже> ако постят, не ще послушам вика им, И ако принесат всеизгаряния и приноси, Не ще благоволя в тях; Но ще ги довърша с нож, с глад и мор.

13 A nd I say, `Ah, Lord Jehovah, Lo, the prophets are saying to them: Ye do not see a sword, yea, famine is not to you, For true peace I give to you in this place.'

Тогава рекох: Уви, Господи Иеова! Ето, пророците казват на тях: Няма да видите нож, нито ще има глад у вас, Но ще ви дам сигурен мир на това място.

14 A nd Jehovah saith unto me: Falsehood the prophets are prophesying in My name, I did not send them, nor command them, Nor have I spoken unto them: A false vision, and divination, and vanity, And the deceit of their own heart, they are prophesying to you.

Тогава ми рече Господ: Лъжливо пророкуват пророците в името Ми; Аз не съм ги пратил, нито съм им заповядал, Нито съм им говорил; Те ви пророкуват лъжливо видение, гадание, Суетата и измамата на своето сърце.

15 T herefore, thus said Jehovah concerning the prophets who are prophesying in My name, and I have not sent them, and they are saying, Sword and famine is not in this land: By sword and by famine are these prophets consumed.

Затова, така казва Господ За пророците, които пророкуват в Моето име Без да съм ги изпратил, Но които казват: Нож и глад не ще има в тая страна, - С нож и с глад ще бъдат изтребени тия пророци.

16 A nd the people to whom they are prophesying, Are cast into out-places of Jerusalem, Because of the famine, and of the sword, And they have none burying them, Them, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, And I have poured out upon them this evil.

А людете, на които те пророкуват, Ще бъдат изхвърлени по ерусалимските улици, <Загинали> от глад и от нож; И не ще има кой да ги заравя, Тях и жените им, синовете им и дъщерите им; Защото ще излея върху тях собственото им зло.

17 A nd thou hast said unto them this word: Tears come down mine eyes night and day, And they do not cease, For, a great breach, Broken hath been the virgin daughter of my people, A very grievous stroke.

И ще им кажеш това слово: Нека ронят очите ми сълзи нощем и денем Без да престанат; Защото девицата, дъщерята на людете ми, Е поразена с голямо поразяване, с много люта рана.

18 I f I have gone forth to the field, Then, lo, the pierced of the sword! And if I have entered the city, Then, lo, the diseased of famine! For both prophet and priest have gone up and down Unto a land that they knew not.

Ако изляза на полето, Ето убитите с нож! И ако вляза в града, Ето изнемощелите от глад Дори пророкът и свещеникът Обходиха земята, но не знаят <какво да се направи>.

19 H ast Thou utterly rejected Judah? Zion hath Thy soul loathed? Wherefore hast Thou smitten us, And there is no healing to us? Looking for peace, and there is no good, And for a time of healing, and lo, terror.

Отхвърлил ли си съвсем Юда? Погнусила ли се е душата Ти от Сион? Защо си ни поразил, та няма изцеление за нас? Очаквахме мир, но никакво добро не дойде, И време за изцеление, но, ето, смущение!

20 W e have known, O Jehovah, our wickedness, The iniquity of our fathers, For we have sinned against Thee.

Признаваме, Господи, нечестието си, И беззаконието на бащите си, Защото сме Ти съгрешили.

21 D o not despise, for Thy name's sake, Dishonour not the throne of Thine honour, Remember, break not Thy covenant with us.

Заради името Си недей се погнусява <от нас>, Не опозорявай славния Си престол; Спомни си, не нарушавай завета Си с нас.

22 A re there among the vanities of the nations any causing rain? And do the heavens give showers? Art not Thou He, O Jehovah our God? And we wait for thee, for Thou -- Thou hast done all these!

Между идолите на народите има ли някой да дава дъжд? Или небето <от себе си> ли дава дъждове? Не си ли Ти, <Който даваш>, Господи Боже наш? Затова Тебе чакаме, Защото Ти си сторил всичко това.
