1 B lessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is he who considers the weak and the poor; the Lord will deliver him in the time of evil and trouble.

Como é feliz aquele que se interessa pelo pobre! O Senhor o livra em tempos de adversidade.

2 T he Lord will protect him and keep him alive; he shall be called blessed in the land; and You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.

O Senhor o protegerá e preservará a sua vida; ele o fará feliz na terra e não o entregará ao desejo dos seus inimigos.

3 T he Lord will sustain, refresh, and strengthen him on his bed of languishing; all his bed You will turn, change, and transform in his illness.

O Senhor o susterá em seu leito de enfermidade, e da doença o restaurará.

4 I said, Lord, be merciful and gracious to me; heal my inner self, for I have sinned against You.

Eu disse: Misericórdia, Senhor, cura-me, pois pequei contra ti.

5 M y enemies speak evil of me,, When will he die and his name perish?

Os meus inimigos dizem maldosamente a meu respeito: “Quando ele vai morrer? Quando vai desaparecer o seu nome?”

6 A nd when one comes to see me, he speaks falsehood and empty words, while his heart gathers mischievous gossip; when he goes away, he tells it abroad.

Sempre que alguém vem visitar-me, fala com falsidade, enche o coração de calúnias e depois as espalha por onde vai.

7 A ll who hate me whisper together about me; against me do they devise my hurt.

Todos os que me odeiam juntam-se e cochicham contra mim, imaginando que o pior me acontecerá:

8 A n evil disease, say they, is poured out upon him and cleaves fast to him; and now that he is bedfast, he will not rise up again.

“Uma praga terrível o derrubou; está de cama, e jamais se levantará”.

9 E ven my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted (relied on and was confident), who ate of my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.

Até o meu melhor amigo, em quem eu confiava e que partilhava do meu pão, voltou-se contra mim.

10 B ut You, O Lord, be merciful and gracious to me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

Mas, tu, Senhor, tem misericórdia de mim; levanta-me, para que eu lhes retribua.

11 B y this I know that You favor and delight in me, because my enemy does not triumph over me.

Sei que me queres bem, pois o meu inimigo não triunfa sobre mim.

12 A nd as for me, You have upheld me in my integrity and set me in Your presence forever.

Por causa da minha integridade me susténs e me pões na tua presença para sempre.

13 B lessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting and to everlasting! Amen and Amen (so be it).

Louvado seja o Senhor, o Deus de Israel, de eternidade a eternidade! Amém e amém!
