1 I will sing of the mercy and loving-kindness of the Lord forever; with my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness from generation to generation.

2 F or I have said, Mercy and loving-kindness shall be built up forever; Your faithfulness will You establish in the very heavens.

3 I have made a covenant with My chosen one, I have sworn to David My servant,

Tu disseste: “Fiz aliança com o meu escolhido, jurei ao meu servo Davi:

4 Y our Seed I will establish forever, and I will build up your throne for all generations. Selah!

Estabelecerei a tua linhagem para sempre e firmarei o teu trono por todas as gerações”. Pausa

5 L et heaven (the angels) praise Your wonders, O Lord, Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones (the holy angels).

Os céus louvam as tuas maravilhas, Senhor, e a tua fidelidade na assembléia dos santos.

6 F or who in the heavens can be compared to the Lord? Who among the mighty can be likened to the Lord,

Pois, quem nos céus poderá comparar-se ao Senhor ? Quem dentre os seres celestiais assemelha-se ao Senhor ?

7 A God greatly feared and revered in the council of the holy (angelic) ones, and to be feared and worshipfully revered above all those who are round about Him?

Na assembléia dos santos Deus é temível, mais do que todos os que o rodeiam.

8 O Lord God of hosts, who is a mighty one like unto You, O Lord? And Your faithfulness is round about You.

Ó Senhor, Deus dos Exércitos, quem é semelhante a ti? És poderoso, Senhor, envolto em tua fidelidade.

9 Y ou rule the raging of the sea; when its waves arise, You still them.

Tu dominas o revolto mar; quando se agigantam as suas ondas, tu as acalmas.

10 Y ou have broken Rahab (Egypt) in pieces; with Your mighty arm You have scattered Your enemies.

Esmagaste e mataste o Monstro dos Mares; com teu braço forte dispersaste os teus inimigos.

11 T he heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours; the world and all that is in it, You have founded them.

Os céus são teus, e tua também é a terra; fundaste o mundo e tudo o que nele existe.

12 T he north and the south, You have created them; Mount Tabor and Mount Hermon joyously praise Your name.

Tu criaste o Norte e o Sul; o Tabor e o Hermom cantam de alegria pelo teu nome.

13 Y ou have a mighty arm; strong is Your hand, Your right hand is soaring high.

O teu braço é poderoso; a tua mão é forte, exaltada é tua mão direita.

14 R ighteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and loving-kindness and truth go before Your face.

A retidão e a justiça são os alicerces do teu trono; o amor e a fidelidade vão à tua frente.

15 B lessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are the people who know the joyful sound; they walk, O Lord, in the light and favor of Your countenance!

Como é feliz o povo que aprendeu a aclamar-te, Senhor, e que anda na luz da tua presença!

16 I n Your name they rejoice all the day, and in Your righteousness they are exalted.

Sem cessar exultam no teu nome, e alegram-se na tua retidão,

17 F or You are the glory of their strength, and by Your favor our horn is exalted and we walk with uplifted faces!

pois tu és a nossa glória e a nossa força, e pelo teu favor exaltas a nossa força.

18 F or our shield belongs to the Lord, and our king to the Holy One of Israel.

Sim, Senhor, tu és o nosso escudo, ó Santo de Israel, tu és o nosso rei.

19 O nce You spoke in a vision to Your devoted ones and said, I have endowed one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from among the people.

Numa visão falaste um dia, e aos teus fiéis disseste: “Cobri de forças um guerreiro, exaltei um homem escolhido dentre o povo.

20 I have found David My servant; with My holy oil have I anointed him,

Encontrei o meu servo Davi; ungi-o com o meu óleo sagrado.

21 W ith whom My hand shall be established and ever abide; My arm also shall strengthen him.

A minha mão o susterá, e o meu braço o fará forte.

22 T he enemy shall not exact from him or do him violence or outwit him, nor shall the wicked afflict and humble him.

Nenhum inimigo o sujeitará a tributos; nenhum injusto o oprimirá.

23 I will beat down his foes before his face and smite those who hate him.

Esmagarei diante dele os seus adversários e destruirei os seus inimigos.

24 M y faithfulness and My mercy and loving-kindness shall be with him, and in My name shall his horn be exalted.

A minha fidelidade e o meu amor o acompanharão, e pelo meu nome aumentará o seu poder.

25 I will set his hand in control also on the Sea, and his right hand on the rivers.

A sua mão dominará até o mar, sua mão direita, até os rios.

26 H e shall cry to Me, You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation!

Ele me dirá: ‘Tu és o meu Pai, o meu Deus, a Rocha que me salva’.

27 A lso I will make him the firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.

Também o nomearei meu primogênito, o mais exaltado dos reis da terra.

28 M y mercy and loving-kindness will I keep for him forevermore, and My covenant shall stand fast and be faithful with him.

Manterei o meu amor por ele para sempre, e a minha aliança com ele jamais se quebrará.

29 H is Offspring also will I make to endure forever, and his throne as the days of heaven.

Firmarei a sua linhagem para sempre, e o seu trono durará enquanto existirem céus.

30 I f his children forsake My law and walk not in My ordinances,

“Se os seus filhos abandonarem a minha lei e não seguirem as minhas ordenanças,

31 I f they break or profane My statutes and keep not My commandments,

se violarem os meus decretos e deixarem de obedecer aos meus mandamentos,

32 T hen will I punish their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.

com a vara castigarei o seu pecado, e a sua iniqüidade com açoites;

33 N evertheless, My loving-kindness will I not break off from him, nor allow My faithfulness to fail.

mas não afastarei dele o meu amor; jamais desistirei da minha fidelidade.

34 M y covenant will I not break or profane, nor alter the thing that is gone out of My lips.

Não violarei a minha aliança nem modificarei as promessas dos meus lábios.

35 O nce have I sworn by My holiness, which cannot be violated; I will not lie to David:

De uma vez para sempre jurei pela minha santidade, e não mentirei a Davi,

36 H is Offspring shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before Me.

que a sua linhagem permanecerá para sempre, e o seu trono durará como o sol;

37 I t shall be established forever as the moon, the faithful witness in the heavens. Selah!

será estabelecido para sempre como a lua, a fiel testemunha no céu”. Pausa

38 B ut You have cast off and rejected; You have been full of wrath against Your anointed.

Mas tu o rejeitaste, recusaste-o e te enfureceste com o teu ungido.

39 Y ou have despised and loathed and renounced the covenant with Your servant; You have profaned his crown by casting it to the ground.

Revogaste a aliança com o teu servo e desonraste a sua coroa, lançando-a ao chão.

40 Y ou have broken down all his hedges and his walls; You have brought his strongholds to ruin.

Derrubaste todos os seus muros e reduziste a ruínas as suas fortalezas.

41 A ll who pass along the road spoil and rob him; he has become the scorn and reproach of his neighbors.

Todos os que passam o saqueiam; tornou-se objeto de zombaria para os seus vizinhos.

42 Y ou have exalted the right hand of his foes; You have made all his enemies rejoice.

Tu exaltaste a mão direita dos seus adversários e encheste de alegria todos os seus inimigos.

43 M oreover, You have turned back the edge of his sword and have not made him to stand in battle.

Tiraste o fio da sua espada e não o apoiaste na batalha.

44 Y ou have made his glory and splendor to cease and have hurled to the ground his throne.

45 T he days of his youth have You shortened; You have covered him with shame. Selah!

48 W hat man can live and shall not see death, or can deliver himself from the hand of Sheol (the place of the dead)? Selah!

49 L ord, where are Your former loving-kindnesses, which You swore to David in Your faithfulness?

50 R emember, Lord, and earnestly imprint the reproach of Your servants, scorned and insulted, how I bear in my bosom the reproach of all the many and mighty peoples,

51 W ith which Your enemies have taunted, O Lord, with which they have mocked the footsteps of Your anointed.

das zombarias dos teus inimigos, Senhor, com que afrontam a cada passo o teu ungido.
