1 I n the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Azariah (Uzziah) son of Amaziah king of Judah began to reign.

No vigésimo sétimo ano do reinado de Jeroboão, rei de Israel, Azarias, filho de Amazias, rei de Judá, começou a reinar.

2 H e was sixteen years old when he began his fifty-two-year reign in Jerusalem. His mother was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.

Tinha dezesseis anos de idade quando se tornou rei, e reinou cinqüenta e dois anos em Jerusalém. Sua mãe era de Jerusalém e chamava-se Jecolias.

3 H e did right in the Lord’s sight, in keeping with all his father Amaziah had done—

Ele fez o que o Senhor aprova, tal como o seu pai Amazias.

4 E xcept the high places were not removed; the people sacrificed and burned incense still on the high places.

Contudo, os altares idólatras não foram derrubados; o povo continuava a oferecer sacrifícios e a queimar incenso neles.

5 A nd the Lord smote the king, so that he was a leper to his dying day, and dwelt in a separate house. Jotham the king’s son was over the household, judging the people of the land.

O Senhor feriu o rei com lepra, até o dia de sua morte. Durante todo esse tempo ele morou numa casa separada. Jotão, filho do rei, tomava conta do palácio e governava o povo.

9 H e did evil in the sight of the Lord, as his fathers had done; he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin.

Ele fez o que o Senhor reprova, como seus antepassados haviam feito. Não se desviou dos pecados que Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, levara Israel a cometer.

10 S hallum son of Jabesh conspired against Zechariah and struck and killed him before the people and reigned in his stead.

Salum, filho de Jabes, conspirou contra Zacarias. Ele o atacou na frente do povo, assassinou-o e foi o seu sucessor.

Assim se cumpriu a palavra do Senhor anunciada a Jeú: “Seus descendentes ocuparão o trono de Israel até a quarta geração”. O Reinado de Salum, Rei de Israel

13 S hallum son of Jabesh, in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah, began his reign of a full month in Samaria.

Salum, filho de Jabes, começou a reinar no trigésimo oitavo ano do reinado de Uzias, rei de Judá, e reinou um mês em Samaria.

14 F or Menahem son of Gadi went up from Tirzah and came to Samaria, and smote and killed Shallum son of Jabesh in Samaria and reigned in his stead.

Então Menaém, filho de Gadi, foi de Tirza a Samaria e atacou Salum, filho de Jabes, assassinou-o e foi o seu sucessor.

No trigésimo nono ano do reinado de Azarias, rei de Judá, Menaém, filho de Gadi, tornou-se rei de Israel, e reinou dez anos em Samaria.

18 H e did evil in the sight of the Lord; he did not depart all his days from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he caused Israel to sin.

Ele fez o que o Senhor reprova. Durante todo o seu reinado não se desviou dos pecados que Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, levara Israel a cometer.

19 T here came against the land Pul king of Assyria, and Menahem gave Pul 1, 000 talents of silver, that he might help him to confirm his kingship.

Então Pul, rei da Assíria, invadiu o país, e Menaém lhe deu trinta e cinco toneladas de prata para obter seu apoio e manter-se no trono.

20 M enahem exacted the money from Israel, from all the men of wealth, from each man fifty shekels of silver to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria turned back and did not stay in the land.

Menaém cobrou essa quantia de Israel. Todos os homens de posses tiveram de contribuir com seiscentos gramas de prata no pagamento ao rei da Assíria. Então ele interrompeu a invasão e foi embora.

24 H e did evil in the sight of the Lord; he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he made Israel sin.

Pecaías fez o que o Senhor reprova. Não se desviou dos pecados que Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, levara Israel a cometer.

25 B ut Pekah son of Remaliah, his captain, conspired against and attacked him in Samaria, in the citadel of the king’s house, with Argob and Arieh; with were fifty Gileadites. And he killed him and reigned in his stead.

Um dos seus principais oficiais, Peca, filho de Remalias, conspirou contra ele. Levando consigo cinqüenta homens de Gileade, assassinou Pecaías e também Argobe e Arié, na cidadela do palácio real em Samaria. Assim Peca matou Pecaías e foi o seu sucessor.

No qüinquagésimo segundo ano do reinado de Azarias, rei de Judá, Peca, filho de Remalias, tornou-se rei de Israel em Samaria, e reinou vinte anos.

28 H e did evil in the Lord’s sight; he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he made Israel sin.

Ele fez o que o Senhor reprova. Não se desviou dos pecados que Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, levara Israel a cometer.

29 I n the days of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria came and took Ijon, Abel-beth-maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and carried the people captive to Assyria.

Durante o seu reinado, Tiglate-Pileser, rei da Assíria, invadiu e conquistou Ijom, Abel-Bete-Maaca, Janoa, Quedes e Hazor. Tomou Gileade e a Galiléia, inclusive toda a terra de Naftali, e deportou o povo para a Assíria.

30 H oshea son of Elah conspired against Pekah son of Remaliah; he smote and killed him, and reigned in his stead in the twentieth year of Jotham son of Uzziah king of Judah.

Então Oséias, filho de Elá, conspirou contra Peca, filho de Remalias. Ele o atacou e o assassinou, tornando-se o seu sucessor no vigésimo ano do reinado de Jotão, filho de Uzias.

32 I n the second year of Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel, Jotham son of Uzziah king of Judah became king.

No segundo ano do reinado de Peca, filho de Remalias, rei de Israel, Jotão, filho de Uzias, rei de Judá, começou a reinar.

33 W hen he was twenty-five years old, he began his reign of sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother was Jerusha daughter of Zadok.

Ele tinha vinte e cinco anos de idade quando começou a reinar, e reinou dezesseis anos em Jerusalém. O nome da sua mãe era Jerusa, filha de Zadoque.

34 H e did right in the Lord’s sight, according to all his father Uzziah had done.

Ele fez o que o Senhor aprova, tal como seu pai Uzias.

35 Y et the high places were not removed; the people sacrificed and burned incense still on the high places. He built the Upper Gate of the house of the Lord.

Contudo, os altares idólatras não foram derrubados; o povo continuou a oferecer sacrifícios e a queimar incenso neles. Jotão reconstruiu a porta superior do templo do Senhor.

38 J otham slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David his. Ahaz his son succeeded him.

Jotão descansou com os seus antepassados e foi sepultado junto a eles na Cidade de Davi, seu predecessor. Seu filho Acaz foi o seu sucessor.
