1 M anasseh was twelve years old when he began his fifty-five-year reign in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hephzibah.

Manassés tinha doze anos de idade quando começou a reinar, e reinou cinqüenta e cinco anos em Jerusalém. O nome de sua mãe era Hefzibá.

2 H e did evil in the sight of the Lord, after the practices of the nations whom the Lord cast out before the Israelites.

Ele fez o que o Senhor reprova, imitando as práticas detestáveis das nações que o Senhor havia expulsado de diante dos israelitas.

3 F or he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal and made an Asherah, as did Ahab king of Israel, and worshiped all the hosts of the heavens and served them!

Reconstruiu os altares idólatras que seu pai Ezequias havia demolido e também ergueu altares para Baal e fez um poste sagrado para Aserá, como fizera Acabe, rei de Israel. Inclinou-se diante de todos os exércitos celestes e lhes prestou culto.

4 A nd he built altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord said, In Jerusalem will I put My Name.

Construiu altares no templo do Senhor, do qual este havia dito: “Em Jerusalém porei o meu nome”.

5 A nd he built altars for all the hosts of the heavens in the two courts of the house of the Lord!

Nos dois pátios do templo do Senhor ele construiu altares para todos os exércitos celestes.

6 A nd he made his son pass through the fire and burned him as an offering; he practiced soothsaying and augury, and dealt with mediums and wizards! He did much wickedness in the sight of the Lord, provoking Him to anger.

Chegou a queimar o próprio filho em sacrifício, praticou feitiçaria e adivinhação e recorreu a médiuns e a quem consultava os espíritos. Fez o que o Senhor reprova, provocando-o à ira.

7 H e made a graven image of Asherah and set it in the house, of which the Lord said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will I put My Name forever;

Ele tomou o poste sagrado que havia feito e o pôs no templo, do qual o Senhor tinha dito a Davi e a seu filho Salomão: “Neste templo e em Jerusalém, que escolhi dentre todas as tribos de Israel, porei o meu nome para sempre.

8 A nd I will not cause the feet of Israel to wander any more out of the land which I gave their fathers, if only they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them and according to all the law that My servant Moses commanded them.

Não farei os pés dos israelitas andarem errantes novamente, longe da terra que dei aos seus antepassados, se tão-somente tiverem o cuidado de fazer tudo o que lhes ordenei e de obedecer a toda a Lei que meu servo Moisés lhes deu”.

9 B ut they would not listen; and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than the nations did whom the Lord destroyed before the Israelites!

Mas o povo não quis ouvir. Manassés os desviou, ao ponto de fazerem pior do que as nações que o Senhor havia destruído diante dos israelitas.

10 A nd the Lord said through His servants the prophets:

E o Senhor disse por meio dos seus servos, os profetas:

11 B ecause Manasseh king of Judah has committed these abominations, and has done wickedly above all that the Amorites did who were before him, and has made Judah also to sin with his idols,

“Manassés, rei de Judá, cometeu esses atos repugnantes. Agiu pior do que os amorreus que o antecederam e também levou Judá a pecar com os ídolos que fizera.

12 T herefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whoever hears of it, both his ears shall tingle!

Portanto, assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de Israel: Causarei uma tal desgraça em Jerusalém e em Judá que os ouvidos de quem ouvir a respeito ficarão zumbindo.

13 A nd I will stretch over Jerusalem the measuring line of Samaria and the plummet of the house of Ahab; and I will wipe Jerusalem as one wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down.

Estenderei sobre Jerusalém o fio de medir utilizado contra Samaria e o fio de prumo usado contra a família de Acabe. Limparei Jerusalém como se limpa um prato, lavando-o e virando-o de cabeça para baixo.

14 A nd I will cast off the rest of My inheritance and deliver them into the hands of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies,

Abandonarei o remanescente da minha herança e o entregarei nas mãos de seus inimigos. Serão despojados e saqueados por todos os seus adversários,

15 F or they have done evil in My sight and have provoked Me to anger since their fathers came out of Egypt to this day.

pois fizeram o que eu reprovo e me provocaram à ira, desde o dia em que os seus antepassados saíram do Egito até hoje”.

16 M oreover, Manasseh shed very much innocent blood, filling Jerusalem from one end to another—besides his sin in making Judah sin, by doing evil in the sight of the Lord!

Manassés também derramou tanto sangue inocente que encheu Jerusalém de um extremo ao outro; além disso levou Judá a cometer pecado e fazer o que o Senhor reprova.

17 T he rest of the acts of Manasseh, all that he did, and his sin that he committed, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

Os demais acontecimentos do reinado de Manassés e todas as suas realizações, inclusive o pecado que cometeu, estão escritos no livro dos registros históricos dos reis de Judá.

18 M anasseh slept with his fathers and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza. Amon his son reigned in his stead.

Manassés descansou com os seus antepassados e foi sepultado no jardim do seu palácio, o jardim de Uzá. E seu filho Amom foi o seu sucessor. O Reinado de Amom, Rei de Judá

19 A mon was twenty-two years old when he began his two-year reign in Jerusalem. His mother was Meshullemeth daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.

Amom tinha vinte e dois anos de idade quando começou a reinar, e reinou dois anos em Jerusalém. O nome de sua mãe era Mesulemete, filha de Haruz; ela era de Jotbá.

20 h e also did evil in the sight of the Lord, as his father Manasseh had done.

Ele fez o que o Senhor reprova, como fizera Manassés, seu pai.

21 H e walked in all the ways of his father; and he served the idols that his father served, and worshiped them;

Imitou o seu pai em tudo; prestou culto aos ídolos aos quais seu pai havia cultuado e inclinou-se diante deles.

22 H e forsook the Lord, the God of his, and did not walk in the way of the Lord.

Abandonou o Senhor, o Deus dos seus antepassados, e não andou no caminho do Senhor.

23 T he servants of Amon conspired against him and killed the king in his own house.

Os oficiais de Amom conspiraram contra ele e o assassinaram em seu palácio.

24 B ut the people of the land killed all those who had conspired against King Amon, and made Josiah his son king in his stead.

Mas o povo matou todos os que haviam conspirado contra o rei Amom, e a seu filho Josias proclamou rei em seu lugar.

25 T he rest of the acts of Amon, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

Os demais acontecimentos do reinado de Amom e as suas realizações estão escritos no livro dos registros históricos dos reis de Judá.

26 H e was buried in his tomb in the garden of Uzza. Josiah his son succeeded him.

Ele foi sepultado em seu túmulo no jardim de Uzá. Seu filho Josias foi o seu sucessor.
