1 D eliver me from my enemies, O my God; defend and protect me from those who rise up against me.

3 F or, behold, they lie in wait for my life; fierce and mighty men are banding together against me, not for my transgression nor for any sin of mine, O Lord.

Vê como ficam à minha espreita! Homens cruéis conspiram contra mim, sem que eu tenha cometido qualquer delito ou pecado, ó Senhor.

4 T hey run and prepare themselves, though there is no fault in me; rouse Yourself to meet and help me, and see!

Mesmo eu não tendo culpa de nada, eles se preparam às pressas para atacar-me. Levanta-te para ajudar-me; olha para a situação em que me encontro!

5 Y ou, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, arise to visit all the nations; spare none and be not merciful to any who treacherously plot evil. Selah!

Ó Senhor, Deus dos Exércitos, ó Deus de Israel! Desperta para castigar todas as nações; não tenhas misericórdia dos traidores perversos. Pausa

6 T hey return at evening, they howl and snarl like dogs, and go about the city.

Eles voltam ao cair da tarde, rosnando como cães e rondando a cidade.

7 B ehold, they belch out with their mouths; swords are in their lips, for who, they think, hears us?

Vê que ameaças saem de suas bocas; seus lábios são como espadas, e dizem: “Quem nos ouvirá?”

8 B ut You, O Lord, will laugh at them; You will hold all the nations in derision.

Mas tu, Senhor, vais rir deles; caçoarás de todas aquelas nações.

9 O my Strength, I will watch and give heed to You and sing praises; for God is my Defense (my Protector and High Tower).

Ó tu, minha força, por ti vou aguardar; tu, ó Deus, és o meu alto refúgio.

10 M y God in His mercy and steadfast love will meet me; God will let me look on my enemies (those who lie in wait for me).

O meu Deus fiel virá ao meu encontro e permitirá que eu triunfe sobre os meus inimigos.

11 S lay them not, lest my people forget; scatter them by Your power and make them wander to and fro, and bring them down, O Lord our Shield!

Mas não os mates, ó Senhor, nosso escudo, se não, o meu povo o esquecerá. Em teu poder faze-os vaguearem, e abate-os.

12 F or the sin of their mouths and the words of their lips, let them even be trapped and taken in their pride, and for the cursing and lying which they utter.

Pelos pecados de suas bocas, pelas palavras de seus lábios, sejam apanhados em seu orgulho. Pelas maldições e mentiras que pronunciam,

13 C onsume them in wrath, consume them so that they shall be no more; and let them know unto the ends of the earth that God rules over Jacob (Israel). Selah!

consome-os em tua ira, consome-os até que não mais existam. Então se saberá até os confins da terra que Deus governa Jacó. Pausa

14 A nd at evening let them return; let them howl and snarl like dogs, and go prowling about the city.

Eles voltam ao cair da tarde, rosnando como cães, e rondando a cidade.

15 L et them wander up and down for food and tarry all night if they are not satisfied (not getting their fill).

À procura de comida perambulam e, se não ficam satisfeitos, uivam.

16 B ut I will sing of Your mighty strength and power; yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy and loving-kindness in the morning; for You have been to me a defense (a fortress and a high tower) and a refuge in the day of my distress.

Mas eu cantarei louvores à tua força; de manhã louvarei a tua fidelidade, pois tu és o meu alto refúgio, abrigo seguro nos tempos difíceis.

17 U nto You, O my Strength, I will sing praises; for God is my Defense, my Fortress, and High Tower, the God Who shows me mercy and steadfast love.

Ó minha força, canto louvores a ti; tu és, ó Deus, o meu alto refúgio, o Deus que me ama.
