1 O Lord, You are my God; I will exalt You, I will praise Your name, for You have done wonderful things, even purposes planned of old in faithfulness and truth.

Senhor, tu és o meu Deus; eu te exaltarei e louvarei o teu nome, pois com grande perfeição tens feito maravilhas, coisas há muito planejadas.

2 F or You have made a city a heap, a fortified city a ruin, a palace of aliens without a city; it will never be rebuilt.

Fizeste da cidade um monte de entulho, da cidade fortificada uma ruína, da cidadela dos estrangeiros uma cidade inexistente, que jamais será reconstruída.

3 T herefore a strong people will glorify You, a city of terrible and ruthless nations will fear You.

Por isso um povo forte te honrará; a cidade das nações cruéis te temerá.

4 F or You have been a stronghold for the poor, a stronghold for the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm, a shade from the heat; for the blast of the ruthless ones is like a rainstorm against a wall.

Tens sido refúgio para os pobres, refúgio para o necessitado em sua aflição, abrigo contra a tempestade e sombra contra o calor quando o sopro dos cruéis é como tempestade contra um muro

5 A s the heat in a dry land You will bring down the noise of aliens; and as the heat is brought low by the shadow of a cloud, so the song of the ruthless ones is brought low.

e como o calor do deserto. Tu silencias o bramido dos estrangeiros; assim como diminui o calor com a sombra de uma nuvem, assim a canção dos temíveis é emudecida.

6 A nd on this Mount shall the Lord of hosts make for all peoples a feast of rich things, a feast of wines on the lees—of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

Neste monte o Senhor dos Exércitos preparará um farto banquete para todos os povos, um banquete de vinho envelhecido, com carnes suculentas e o melhor vinho.

7 A nd He will destroy on this mountain the covering of the face that is cast over the heads of all peoples, and the veil that is woven and spread over all nations.

Neste monte ele destruirá o véu que envolve todos os povos, a cortina que cobre todas as nações;

8 H e will swallow up death. And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces; and the reproach of His people He will take away from off all the earth; for the Lord has spoken it.

destruirá a morte para sempre. O Soberano, o Senhor, enxugará as lágrimas de todo rosto e retirará de toda a terra a zombaria do seu povo. Foi o Senhor quem o disse!

9 I t shall be said in that day, Behold our God upon Whom we have waited and hoped, that He might save us! This is the Lord, we have waited for Him; we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.

Naquele dia dirão: “Este é o nosso Deus; nós confiamos nele, e ele nos salvou. Este é o Senhor, nós confiamos nele; exultemos e alegremo-nos, pois ele nos salvou”.

10 F or the hand of the Lord shall rest on this Mount, and Moab shall be threshed and trodden down in his place as straw is trodden down in the water of a cesspit.

Pois a mão do Senhor repousará sobre este monte; mas Moabe será pisoteado em seu próprio lugar, como a palha é pisoteada na esterqueira.

11 A nd though stretches forth his hands in the midst of as a swimmer stretches out his hands to swim, the Lord will bring down pride in spite of the skillfulness of his hands and together with the spoils of his hands.

Ali Moabe estenderá as mãos, como faz o nadador para nadar, mas o Senhor abaterá o seu orgulho, apesar da habilidade das suas mãos.

12 A nd the high fortifications of your walls will bring down, lay low, and bring to the ground, even to the dust.

Abaterá as torres altas dos seus altos muros e os derrubará; ele os lançará ao pó da terra.
