1 I n the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijam began to reign over Judah.

No décimo oitavo ano do reinado de Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, Abias tornou-se rei de Judá,

2 H e reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother was Maacah (Micaiah) daughter of Abishalom (Absalom).

e reinou três anos em Jerusalém. O nome de sua mãe era Maaca, filha de Absalão.

3 H e walked in all the sins of his father before him; and his heart was not blameless with the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father.

Ele cometeu todos os pecados que o seu pai tinha cometido; seu coração não era inteiramente consagrado ao Senhor, ao seu Deus, quanto fora o coração de Davi, seu predecessor.

4 N evertheless, for David’s sake the Lord his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, setting up his son after him and establishing Jerusalem,

No entanto, por amor de Davi, o Senhor, o seu Deus, concedeu-lhe uma lâmpada em Jerusalém, dando-lhe um filho como sucessor e fortalecendo Jerusalém.

5 B ecause David did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and turned not aside from anything that He commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

Pois Davi fizera o que o Senhor aprova e não deixara de obedecer a nenhum dos mandamentos do Senhor durante todos os dias da sua vida, exceto no caso de Urias, o hitita.

6 T here was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of life.

E houve guerra entre Roboão e Jeroboão durante toda a vida de Abias.

7 T he rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

Os demais acontecimentos do reinado de Abias e todas as suas realizações estão escritos nos registros históricos dos reis de Judá. Também houve guerra entre Abias e Jeroboão.

8 A bijam slept with his fathers and they buried him in the City of David. Asa his son reigned in his stead.

E Abias descansou com os seus antepassados e foi sepultado na Cidade de Davi. E o seu filho Asa foi o seu sucessor. O Reinado de Asa, Rei de Judá

9 I n the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa began to reign over Judah.

No vigésimo ano do reinado de Jeroboão, rei de Israel, Asa tornou-se rei de Judá,

10 F orty-one years he reigned in Jerusalem. His mother was Maacah (Micaiah) daughter of Abishalom (Absalom).

e reinou quarenta e um anos em Jerusalém. O nome da sua avó era Maaca, filha de Absalão.

11 A nd Asa did right in the eyes of the Lord, as did David his father.

Asa fez o que o Senhor aprova, tal como Davi, seu predecessor.

12 H e put away the sodomites (male cult prostitutes) out of the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made or promoted.

Expulsou do país os prostitutos cultuais e se desfez de todos os ídolos que seu pai havia feito.

13 A lso Maacah his mother he removed from being queen mother, because she had an image made for Asherah. Asa destroyed her image, burning it by the brook Kidron.

Chegou até a depor sua avó Maaca da posição de rainha-mãe, pois ela havia feito um poste sagrado repugnante. Asa derrubou o poste e o queimou no vale do Cedrom.

14 B ut the high places were not removed. Yet Asa’s heart was blameless with the Lord all his days.

Embora os altares idólatras não tenham sido eliminados, o coração de Asa foi totalmente dedicado ao Senhor durante toda a sua vida.

15 H e brought the things which his father had dedicated and the things which he himself had dedicated into the house of the Lord—silver, gold, and vessels.

Ele trouxe para o templo do Senhor a prata, o ouro e os utensílios que ele e seu pai haviam consagrado.

16 T here was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

Houve guerra entre Asa e Baasa, rei de Israel, durante todo o reinado deles.

17 B aasha king of Israel went up against Judah and built up Ramah, that he might allow no one to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

Baasa, rei de Israel, invadiu Judá e fortificou Ramá, para que ninguém pudesse entrar nem sair do território de Asa, rei de Judá.

18 T hen Asa took all the silver and gold left in the treasuries of the house of the Lord and of the king’s house and delivered them into the hands of his servants. And King Asa sent them to Ben-hadad son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, who dwelt at Damascus, saying,

Então Asa ajuntou a prata e o ouro que haviam sobrado no tesouro do templo do Senhor e do seu próprio palácio. Confiou tudo isso a alguns dos seus oficiais e os enviou a Ben-Hadade, filho de Tabriom e neto de Heziom, rei da Síria, que governava em Damasco,

19 L et there be a league between me and you, as was between my father and your father. Behold, I am sending you a present of silver and gold; go, break your league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may withdraw from me.

com uma mensagem que dizia: “Façamos um tratado, como fizeram meu pai e o teu. Estou te enviando como presente prata e ouro. Agora, rompe o tratado que tens com Baasa, rei de Israel, para que ele saia do meu país”.

20 S o Ben-hadad hearkened to king Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, Dan, Abel-beth-maacah, and all Chinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

Ben-Hadade aceitou a proposta do rei Asa e ordenou aos comandantes das suas forças que atacassem as cidades de Israel. Ele conquistou Ijom, Dã, Abel-Bete-Maaca e todo o Quinerete, além de Naftali.

21 W hen Baasha heard of it, he quit building up Ramah and dwelt in Tirzah.

Quando Baasa soube disso, abandonou a construção dos muros de Ramá e foi para Tirza.

22 T hen King Asa made a proclamation to all Judah—none was exempted. They carried away the stones of Ramah and its timber with which Baasha had been building. And King Asa built up with them Geba of Benjamin, and also Mizpah.

Então o rei Asa reuniu todos homens de Judá — ninguém foi isentado — e eles retiraram de Ramá as pedras e a madeira que Baasa estivera usando. Com esse material Asa fortificou Geba, em Benjamim, e também Mispá.

23 T he rest of all the acts of Asa, all his might, all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? But in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

Os demais acontecimentos do reinado de Asa, todas as suas realizações, todos os seus atos e todas as cidades que construiu, tudo isso está escrito nos registros históricos dos reis de Judá. Na velhice Asa sofreu uma doença nos pés,

25 N adab son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned two years.

Nadabe, filho de Jeroboão, tornou-se rei de Israel no segundo ano do reinado de Asa, rei de Judá, e reinou dois anos sobre Israel.

26 H e did evil in the sight of the Lord and walked in the way of his father and in his sin, with which he made Israel sin.

Fez o que o Senhor reprova, andando nos caminhos do seu pai e no pecado que ele tinha levado Israel a cometer.

27 B aasha son of Ahijah of the house of Issachar conspired against Nadab, and Baasha smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines, for Nadab and all Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon.

Baasa, filho de Aías, da tribo de Issacar, conspirou contra ele, e o matou na cidade filistéia de Gibetom, enquanto Nadabe e todo o exército de Israel a sitiavam.

28 I n the third year of Asa king of Judah Baasha slew Nadab and reigned in his stead.

Baasa matou Nadabe no terceiro ano do reinado de Asa, rei de Judá, e foi o seu sucessor.

29 A s soon as he was king, Baasha killed all the household of Jeroboam. He left to not one who breathed, until he had destroyed it, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by His servant Ahijah the Shilonite—

Assim que começou a reinar, matou toda a família de Jeroboão. Dos pertencentes a Jeroboão não deixou ninguém vivo; destruiu todos, de acordo com a palavra do Senhor anunciada por seu servo, o silonita Aías.

30 B ecause of the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned and by which he made Israel to sin, and because of his provocation of the Lord, the God of Israel, to anger.

Isso aconteceu por causa dos pecados que Jeroboão havia cometido e havia feito Israel cometer, e porque ele tinha provocado a ira do Senhor, o Deus de Israel.

31 T he rest of Nadab’s acts, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Os demais acontecimentos do reinado de Nadabe e tudo o que fez, estão escritos nos registros históricos dos reis de Israel.

32 T here was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

Houve guerra entre Asa e Baasa, rei de Israel, durante todo o reinado deles. O Reinado de Baasa, Rei de Israel

33 I n the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha son of Ahijah began his reign of twenty-four years over all Israel in Tirzah.

No terceiro ano do reinado de Asa, rei de Judá, Baasa, filho de Aías, tornou-se rei de todo o Israel, em Tirza, e reinou vinte e quatro anos.

34 H e did evil in the sight of the Lord and walked in the way of Jeroboam and in his sin, with which he made Israel sin.

Fez o que o Senhor reprova, andando nos caminhos de Jeroboão e nos pecados que ele tinha levado Israel a cometer.
