1 H ear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come to You.

Ouve a minha oração, Senhor! Chegue a ti o meu grito de socorro!

2 H ide not Your face from me in the day when I am in distress! Incline Your ear to me; in the day when I call, answer me speedily.

Não escondas de mim o teu rosto quando estou atribulado. Inclina para mim os teus ouvidos; quando eu clamar, responde-me depressa!

3 F or my days consume away like smoke, and my bones burn like a firebrand or like a hearth.

Esvaem-se os meus dias como fumaça; meus ossos queimam como brasas vivas.

4 M y heart is smitten like grass and withered, so that I forget to eat my food.

Como a relva ressequida está o meu coração; esqueço até de comer!

5 B y reason of my loud groaning my flesh cleaves to my bones.

De tanto gemer estou reduzido a pele e osso.

6 I am like a melancholy pelican or vulture of the wilderness; I am like a owl of the waste places.

Sou como a coruja do deserto, como uma coruja entre as ruínas.

7 I am sleepless and lie awake, like a bereaved sparrow alone on the housetop.

Não consigo dormir; pareço um pássaro solitário no telhado.

8 M y adversaries taunt and reproach me all the day; and they who are angry with me use my name as a curse.

Os meus inimigos zombam de mim o tempo todo; os que me insultam usam o meu nome para lançar maldições.

9 F or I have eaten the ashes as if they were bread and have mingled my drink with weeping

Cinzas são a minha comida, e com lágrimas misturo o que bebo,

10 B ecause of Your indignation and Your wrath, for You have taken me up and cast me away.

por causa da tua indignação e da tua ira, pois me rejeitaste e me expulsaste para longe de ti.

11 M y days are like an evening shadow that stretches out and declines; and I am withered like grass.

Meus dias são como sombras crescentes; sou como a relva que vai murchando.

12 B ut You, O Lord, are enthroned forever; and the fame of Your name endures to all generations.

Tu, porém, Senhor, no trono reinarás para sempre; o teu nome será lembrado de geração em geração.

13 Y ou will arise and have mercy and loving-kindness for Zion, for it is time to have pity and compassion for her; yes, the set time has come.

Tu te levantarás e terás misericórdia de Sião, pois é hora de lhe mostrares compaixão; o tempo certo é chegado.

14 F or Your servants take pleasure in the stones and show pity for her dust.

Pois as suas pedras são amadas pelos teus servos, as suas ruínas os enchem de compaixão.

15 S o the nations shall fear and worshipfully revere the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth Your glory.

Então as nações temerão o nome do Senhor, e todos os reis da terra a sua glória.

16 W hen the Lord builds up Zion, He will appear in His glory;

Porque o Senhor reconstruirá Sião e se manifestará na glória que ele tem.

17 H e will regard the plea of the destitute and will not despise their prayer.

Responderá à oração dos desamparados; as suas súplicas não desprezará.

18 L et this be recorded for the generation yet unborn, that a people yet to be created shall praise the Lord.

Escreva-se isto para as futuras gerações, e um povo que ainda será criado louvará o Senhor, proclamando:

19 F or He looked down from the height of His sanctuary, from heaven did the Lord behold the earth,

“Do seu santuário nas alturas o Senhor olhou; dos céus observou a terra,

20 T o hear the sighing and groaning of the prisoner, to loose those who are appointed to death,

para ouvir os gemidos dos prisioneiros e libertar os condenados à morte”.

21 S o that men may declare the name of the Lord in Zion and His praise in Jerusalem

Assim o nome do Senhor será anunciado em Sião e o seu louvor, em Jerusalém,

22 W hen peoples are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to worship and serve the Lord.

quando os povos e os reinos se reunirem para adorar o Senhor.

23 H e has afflicted and weakened my strength, humbling and bringing me low in the way; He has shortened my days.

No meio da minha vida ele me abateu com sua força; abreviou os meus dias.

24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days, You Whose years continue throughout all generations.

Então pedi: Ó meu Deus, não me leves no meio dos meus dias. Os teus dias duram por todas as gerações!

25 A t the beginning You existed and laid the foundations of the earth; the heavens are the work of Your hands.

No princípio firmaste os fundamentos da terra, e os céus são obras das tuas mãos.

26 T hey shall perish, but You shall remain and endure; yes, all of them shall wear out and become old like a garment. Like clothing You shall change them, and they shall be changed and pass away.

Eles perecerão, mas tu permanecerás; envelhecerão como vestimentas. Como roupas tu os trocarás e serão jogados fora.

27 B ut You remain the same, and Your years shall have no end.

Mas tu permaneces o mesmo, e os teus dias jamais terão fim.

28 T he children of Your servants shall dwell safely and continue, and their descendants shall be established before You.

Os filhos dos teus servos terão uma habitação; os seus descendentes serão estabelecidos na tua presença.
