1 H ear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come to You.

Ó Senhor, ouve a minha oração, e chegue a ti o meu clamor.

2 H ide not Your face from me in the day when I am in distress! Incline Your ear to me; in the day when I call, answer me speedily.

Não escondas de mim o teu rosto no dia da minha angústia; inclina para mim os teus ouvidos; no dia em que eu clamar, ouve-me depressa.

3 F or my days consume away like smoke, and my bones burn like a firebrand or like a hearth.

Pois os meus dias se desvanecem como fumaça, e os meus ossos ardem como um tição.

4 M y heart is smitten like grass and withered, so that I forget to eat my food.

O meu coração está ferido e seco como a erva, pelo que até me esqueço de comer o meu pão.

5 B y reason of my loud groaning my flesh cleaves to my bones.

Por causa do meu doloroso gemer, os meus ossos se apegam ã minha carne.

6 I am like a melancholy pelican or vulture of the wilderness; I am like a owl of the waste places.

Sou semelhante ao pelicano no deserto; cheguei a ser como a coruja das ruínas.

7 I am sleepless and lie awake, like a bereaved sparrow alone on the housetop.

Vigio, e tornei-me como um passarinho solitário no telhado.

8 M y adversaries taunt and reproach me all the day; and they who are angry with me use my name as a curse.

Os meus inimigos me afrontam todo o dia; os que contra mim se enfurecem, me amaldiçoam.

9 F or I have eaten the ashes as if they were bread and have mingled my drink with weeping

Pois tenho comido cinza como pão, e misturado com lágrimas a minha bebida,

10 B ecause of Your indignation and Your wrath, for You have taken me up and cast me away.

por causa da tua indignação e da tua ira; pois tu me levantaste e me arrojaste de ti.

11 M y days are like an evening shadow that stretches out and declines; and I am withered like grass.

Os meus dias são como a sombra que declina, e eu, como a erva, me vou secando.

12 B ut You, O Lord, are enthroned forever; and the fame of Your name endures to all generations.

Mas tu, Senhor, estás entronizado para sempre, e o teu nome será lembrado por todas as gerações.

13 Y ou will arise and have mercy and loving-kindness for Zion, for it is time to have pity and compassion for her; yes, the set time has come.

Tu te lenvantarás e terás piedade de Sião; pois é o tempo de te compadeceres dela, sim, o tempo determinado já chegou.

14 F or Your servants take pleasure in the stones and show pity for her dust.

Porque os teus servos têm prazer nas pedras dela, e se compadecem do seu pó.

15 S o the nations shall fear and worshipfully revere the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth Your glory.

As nações, pois, temerão o nome do Senhor, e todos os reis da terra a tua glória,

16 W hen the Lord builds up Zion, He will appear in His glory;

quando o Senhor edificar a Sião, e na sua glória se manifestar,

17 H e will regard the plea of the destitute and will not despise their prayer.

atendendo ã oração do desamparado, e não desprezando a sua súplica.

18 L et this be recorded for the generation yet unborn, that a people yet to be created shall praise the Lord.

Escreva-se isto para a geração futura, para que um povo que está por vir louve ao Senhor.

19 F or He looked down from the height of His sanctuary, from heaven did the Lord behold the earth,

Pois olhou do alto do seu santuário; dos céus olhou o Senhor para a terra,

20 T o hear the sighing and groaning of the prisoner, to loose those who are appointed to death,

para ouvir o gemido dos presos, para libertar os sentenciados ã morte;

21 S o that men may declare the name of the Lord in Zion and His praise in Jerusalem

a fim de que seja anunciado em Sião o nome do Senhor, e o seu louvor em Jerusalém,

22 W hen peoples are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to worship and serve the Lord.

quando se congregarem os povos, e os reinos, para servirem ao Senhor.

23 H e has afflicted and weakened my strength, humbling and bringing me low in the way; He has shortened my days.

Ele abateu a minha força no caminho; abreviou os meus dias.

24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days, You Whose years continue throughout all generations.

Eu clamo: Deus meu, não me leves no meio dos meus dias, tu, cujos anos alcançam todas as gerações.

25 A t the beginning You existed and laid the foundations of the earth; the heavens are the work of Your hands.

Desde a antigüidade fundaste a terra; e os céus são obra das tuas mãos.

26 T hey shall perish, but You shall remain and endure; yes, all of them shall wear out and become old like a garment. Like clothing You shall change them, and they shall be changed and pass away.

Eles perecerão, mas tu permanecerás; todos eles, como um vestido, envelhecerão; como roupa os mundarás, e ficarão mudados.

27 B ut You remain the same, and Your years shall have no end.

Mas tu és o mesmo, e os teus anos não acabarão.

28 T he children of Your servants shall dwell safely and continue, and their descendants shall be established before You.

Os filhos dos teus servos habitarão seguros, e a sua descendência ficará firmada diante de ti.
