1 I will stand upon my post of observation and station myself on the tower or fortress, and will watch to see what He will say within me and what answer I will make to the perplexities of my complaint against Him.

Sobre a minha torre de vigia me colocarei e sobre a fortaleza me apresentarei e vigiarei, para ver o que me dira, e o que eu responderei no tocante, a minha queixa.

2 A nd the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may read as he hastens by.

Entao o Senhor me respondeu, e disse: Escreve a visão e torna-se bem legivel sobre tabuas, para que a possa ler quem passa correndo.

3 F or the vision is yet for an appointed time and it hastens to the end; it will not deceive or disappoint. Though it tarry, wait for it, because it will surely come; it will not be behindhand on its appointed day.

Pois a visão é ainda para o tempo determinado, e se apressapara o fim. Ainda que se demore, espera-o; porque certamente virá, não tardará.

4 L ook at the proud; his soul is not straight or right within him, but the just and the righteous man shall live by his faith and in his faithfulness.

Eis o soberbo! A sua alma não é reta nele; mas o justo pela sua fé viverá.

5 M oreover, wine and wealth are treacherous; the proud man is restless and cannot stay at home. His appetite is large like that of Sheol and is like death and cannot be satisfied; he gathers to himself all nations and collects all people as if he owned them.

Além disso, o vinho é traidor; o homem soberbo não permanece. Ele alarga como o Seol o seu desejo; como a morte, nunca se pode fartar, mas ajunta a si todas as nações, e congrega a si todos os povos.

6 S hall not all these take up a taunt against him and in scoffing derision of him say, Woe to him who piles up that which is not his! And who loads himself with promissory notes for usury!

Não levantarão, pois, todos estes contra ele um provérbio e um dito zombador? E dirão: Ai daquele que acumula o que não é seu! (até quando?) e daquele que se carrega a si mesmo de penhores!

7 S hall not rise up suddenly who shall bite you, exacting usury of you, and those awake who will vex you ? Then you will be booty for them.

Não se levantarão de repente os teus credores? e não despertarão os que te farão tremer? Então lhes servirás tu de despojo.

8 B ecause you have plundered many nations, all who are left of the people shall plunder you—because of men’s blood and for the violence done to the earth, to the city and all the people who live in each city.

Visto como despojaste muitas nações, os demais povos te despojarão a ti, por causa do sangue dos homens, e da violência para com á terra, a cidade, e todos os que nela habitam.

9 W oe to him who obtains wicked gain for his house, to set his nest on high that he may be preserved from calamity and delivered from the power of evil!

Ai daquele que adquire para a sua casa lucros criminosos, para pôr o seu ninho no alto, a fim de se livrar das garras da calamidade!

10 Y ou have devised shame to your house by cutting off and putting an end to many peoples, and you have sinned against and forfeited your own life.

Vergonha maquinaste para a tua casa; destruindo tu a muitos povos, pecaste contra a tua alma.

11 F or the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the woodwork will answer it.

pois a pedra clamará da parede, e a trave lhe responderá do madeiramento.

12 W oe to him who builds a town with blood and establishes a city by iniquity!

Ai daquele que edifica a cidade com sángue, e que funda a cidade com iniqüidade!

13 B ehold, is it not by appointment of the Lord of hosts that the nations toil only to satisfy the fire, and the peoples weary themselves only for emptiness, falsity, and futility?

Acaso não procede do Senhor dos exércitos que os povos trabalhem para o fogo e as nações se cansem em vão?

14 B ut the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

Pois a terra se encherá do conhecimento da glória do Senhor, como as águas cobrem o mar.

15 W oe to him who gives his neighbors drink, who pours out your bottle to them and adds to it your poisonous and blighting wrath and also makes them drunk, that you may look on their stripped condition and pour out foul shame!

Ai daquele que da de beber ao seu próximo, adicionando ã bebida o seu furor, e que o embebeda para ver a sua nudez!

16 Y ou will be filled with shame and contempt instead of glory. Drink also and be like an uncircumcised! The cup in the Lord’s right hand will come around to you, and foul shame shall be upon your own glory!

Serás farto de ignomínia em lugar de honra; bebe tu também, e sê como um incurcunciso; o cálice da mão direita do Senhor se chegará a ti, e ignomínia cairá sobre a tua glória.

17 F or the violence done to Lebanon will cover and overwhelm you; the destruction of the animals will terrify you on account of men’s blood and the violence done to the land, to the city and all its inhabitants.

Pois a violência cometida contra o Libano te cobrirá, e bem assim a destruição das feras te amedrontrará por causa do sangue dos homens, e da violência para com a terra, a cidade e todos os que nele habitam.

18 W hat profit is the graven image when its maker has formed it? It is only a molten image and a teacher of lies. For the maker trusts in his own creations when he makes dumb idols.

Que aproveita a imagem esculplda, tendo-a esculpido o seu artífice? a imagem de fundição, que ensina a mentira? Pois o artífice confia na sua própria obra, quando forma ídolos mudos.

19 W oe to him who says to the wooden image, Awake! and to the dumb stone, Arise, teach! behold, it is laid over with gold and silver and there is no breath at all inside it!

Ai daquele que diz ao pau: Acorda; e ã pedra muda: Desperta! Pode isso ensinar? Eis que está coberto de ouro e de prata, e dentro dele não há espírito algum.

20 B ut the Lord is in His holy temple; let all the earth hush and keep silence before Him.

Mas o Senhor está no seu santo templo; cale-se diante dele toda a terra; cale-se diante dele toda a terra.
