1 I ndeed, my heart also trembles and leaps out of its place.

Sobre isso também treme o meu coração, e salta do seu lugar.

2 H ear, oh, hear the roar of His voice and the sound of rumbling that goes out of His mouth!

Dai atentamente ouvidos ao estrondo da voz de Deus e ao sonido que sai da sua boca.

3 U nder the whole heaven He lets it loose, and His lightning to the ends of the earth.

Ele o envia por debaixo de todo o céu, e o seu relâmpago até os confins da terra.

4 A fter it His voice roars; He thunders with the voice of His majesty, and He restrains not when His voice is heard.

Depois do relâmpago ruge uma grande voz; ele troveja com a sua voz majestosa; e não retarda os raios, quando é ouvida a sua voz.

5 G od thunders marvelously with His voice; He does great things which we cannot comprehend.

Com a sua voz troveja Deus maravilhosamente; faz grandes coisas, que nós não compreendemos.

6 F or He says to the snow, Fall on the earth; likewise He speaks to the showers and to the downpour of His mighty rains.

Pois ã neve diz: Cai sobre a terra; como também

7 G od seals up (stops, brings to a standstill by severe weather) the hand of every man, that all men whom He has made may know His doings (His sovereign power and their subjection to it).

Ele sela as mãos de todo homem, para que todos saibam que ele os fez.

8 T hen the beasts go into dens and remain in their lairs.

E as feras entram nos esconderijos e ficam nos seus covis.

9 O ut of its chamber comes the whirlwind, and cold from the scattering winds.

Da recâmara do sul sai o tufão, e do norte o frio.

10 B y the breath of God ice is given, and the breadth of the waters is frozen over.

Ao sopro de Deus forma-se o gelo, e as largas águas são congeladas.

11 H e loads the thick cloud with moisture; He scatters the cloud of His lightning.

Também de umidade carrega as grossas nuvens; as nuvens espalham relâmpagos.

12 A nd it is turned round about by His guidance, that they may do whatever He commands them upon the face of the habitable earth.

Fazem evoluções sob a sua direção, para efetuar tudo quanto lhes ordena sobre a superfície do mundo habitável:

13 W hether it be for correction or for His earth or for His mercy and loving-kindness, He causes it to come.

seja para disciplina, ou para a sua terra, ou para beneficência, que as faça vir.

14 H ear this, O Job; stand still and consider the wondrous works of God.

A isto, Jó, inclina os teus ouvidos; pára e considera as obras maravilhosas de Deus.

15 D o you know how God lays His command upon them and causes the lightning of His cloud to shine?

Sabes tu como Deus lhes dá as suas ordens, e faz resplandecer o relâmpago da sua nuvem?

16 D o you know how the clouds are balanced, the wonderful works of Him Who is perfect in knowledge?

Compreendes o equilíbrio das nuvens, e as maravilhas daquele que é perfeito nos conhecimentos;

17 w hy your garments are hot when He quiets the earth with the south wind?

tu cujas vestes são quentes, quando há calma sobre a terra por causa do vento sul?

18 C an you along with Him spread out the sky, strong as a molten mirror?

Acaso podes, como ele, estender o firmamento, que é sólido como um espelho fundido?

19 T ell us with what words of man we may address such a Being; we cannot state our case because we are in the dark.

Ensina-nos o que lhe diremos; pois nós nada poderemos pôr em boa ordem, por causa das trevas.

20 S o shall it be told Him that I wish to speak? If a man speaks, shall he be swallowed up?

Contar-lhe-ia alguém que eu quero falar. Ou desejaria um homem ser devorado?

21 A nd now men cannot look upon the light when it is bright in the skies, when the wind has passed and cleared them.

E agora o homem não pode olhar para o sol, que resplandece no céu quando o vento, tendo passado, o deixa limpo.

22 G olden brightness and splendor come out of the north; terrible splendor and majesty God has upon Himself!

Do norte vem o áureo esplendor; em Deus há tremenda majestade.

23 T ouching the Almighty, we cannot find Him out; He is excellent in power; and to justice and plenteous righteousness He does no violence.

Quanto ao Todo-Poderoso, não o podemos compreender; grande é em poder e justiça e pleno de retidão; a ninguém, pois, oprimirá.

24 M en therefore fear Him; He regards and respects not any who are wise in heart.

Por isso o temem os homens; ele não respeita os que se julgam sábios.
