1 B ehold, my eye has seen all this, my ear has heard and understood it.

Vós, porém, sois forjadores de mentiras, e vós todos, médicos que não valem nada.

5 O h, that you would altogether hold your peace! Then you would evidence your wisdom and you might pass for wise men.

Oxalá vos calásseis de todo, pois assim passaríeis por sábios.

6 H ear now my reasoning, and listen to the pleadings of my lips.

Ouvi agora a minha defesa, e escutai os argumentos dos meus lábios.

7 W ill you speak unrighteously for God and talk deceitfully for Him?

Falareis falsamente por Deus, e por ele proferireis mentiras?

8 W ill you show partiality to Him ? Will you act as special pleaders for God?

Fareis aceitação da sua pessoa? Contendereis a favor de Deus?

9 W ould it be profitable for you if He should investigate your tactics ? Or as one deceives and mocks a man, do you deceive and mock Him?

Ser-vos-ia bom, se ele vos esquadrinhasse? Ou zombareis dele, como quem zomba de um homem?

10 H e will surely reprove you if you do secretly show partiality.

Certamente vos repreenderá, se em oculto vos deixardes levar de respeitos humanos.

11 S hall not His majesty make you afraid, and should not your awe for Him restrain you?

Não vos amedrontará a sua majestade? E não cairá sobre vós o seu terror?

12 Y our memorable sayings are proverbs of ashes; your defenses are defenses of clay.

As vossas máximas são provérbios de cinza; as vossas defesas são torres de barro.

13 H old your peace! Let me alone, so I may speak; and let come on me what may.

Calai-vos perante mim, para que eu fale, e venha sobre mim o que vier.

14 W hy should I take my flesh in my teeth and put my life in my hands ?

Tomarei a minha carne entre os meus dentes, e porei a minha vida na minha mão.

15 b ehold, He will slay me; I have no hope—nevertheless, I will maintain and argue my ways before Him and even to His face.

Eis que ele me matará; não tenho esperança; contudo defenderei os meus caminhos diante dele.

16 T his will be my salvation, that a polluted and godless man shall not come before Him.

Também isso será a minha salvação, pois o ímpio não virá perante ele.

17 L isten diligently to my speech, and let my declaration be in your ears.

Ouvi atentamente as minhas palavras, e chegue aos vossos ouvidos a minha declaração.

18 B ehold now, I have prepared my case; I know that I shall be justified and vindicated.

Eis que já pus em ordem a minha causa, e sei que serei achado justo:

19 W ho is he who will argue against and refute me? For then I would hold my peace and expire.

Quem é o que contenderá comigo? Pois então me calaria e renderia o espírito.

20 O nly grant two conditions to me, and then will I not hide myself from You:

Concede-me somente duas coisas; então não me esconderei do teu rosto:

21 W ithdraw Your hand and take this bodily suffering far from me; and let not my dread of You terrify me.

desvia a tua mão rara longe de mim, e não me amedronte o teu terror.

22 T hen call and I will answer, or let me speak, and You answer me.

Então chama tu, e eu responderei; ou eu falarei, e me responde tu.

23 H ow many are my iniquities and sins ? Make me recognize and know my transgression and my sin.

Quantas iniqüidades e pecados tenho eu? Faze-me saber a minha transgressão e o meu pecado.

24 W hy do You hide Your face and alienate me as if I were Your enemy?

Por que escondes o teu rosto, e me tens por teu inimigo?

25 W ill You harass and frighten a leaf driven to and fro, and will You pursue the chaff of the dry stubble?

Acossarás uma folha arrebatada pelo vento? E perseguirás o restolho seco?

26 F or You write bitter things against me and make me inherit and be accountable now for the iniquities of my youth.

Pois escreves contra mim coisas amargas, e me fazes herdar os erros da minha mocidade;

27 Y ou put my feet also in the stocks and observe critically all my paths; You set a circle and limit around the soles of my feet.

também pões no tronco os meus pés, e observas todos os meus caminhos, e marcas um termo ao redor dos meus pés,

28 A nd he wastes away as a rotten thing, like a garment that is moth-eaten.

apesar de eu ser como uma coisa podre que se consome, e como um vestido, ao qual rói a traça.
