1 O give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His name, make known His doings among the peoples!

Dai graças ao Senhor; invocai o seu nome; fazei conhecidos os seus feitos entre os povos.

2 S ing to Him, sing praises to Him; meditate on and talk of all His marvelous deeds and devoutly praise them.

Cantai-lhe, cantai-lhe louvores; falai de todas as suas maravilhas.

3 G lory in His holy name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek and require the Lord.

Gloriai-vos no seu santo nome; regozije-se o coração daqueles que buscam ao Senhor.

4 S eek, inquire of and for the Lord, and crave Him and His strength (His might and inflexibility to temptation); seek and require His face and His presence evermore.

Buscai ao Senhor e a sua força; buscai a sua face continuamente.

5 r emember the marvelous deeds that He has done, His miracles and wonders, the judgments and sentences which He pronounced.

Lembrai-vos das maravilhas que ele tem feito, dos seus prodígios e dos juízos da sua boca,

6 O you offspring of Abraham His servant, you children of Jacob, His chosen ones,

vós, descendência de Abraão, seu servo, vós, filhos de Jacó, seus escolhidos.

7 H e is the Lord our God; His judgments are in all the earth.

Ele é o Senhor nosso Deus; os seus juízos estão em toda a terra.

8 H e is mindful of His covenant and forever it is imprinted on His heart, the word which He commanded and established to a thousand generations,

Lembra-se perpetuamente do seu pacto, da palavra que ordenou para mil gerações;

9 T he covenant which He made with Abraham, and His sworn promise to Isaac,

do pacto que fez com Abraão, e do seu juramento a Isaque;

10 W hich He confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant,

o qual ele confirmou a Jacó por estatuto, e a Israel por pacto eterno,

11 S aying, Unto you will I give the land of Canaan as your measured portion, possession, and inheritance.

dizendo: A ti darei a terra de Canaã, como porção da vossa herança.

12 W hen they were but a few men in number, in fact, very few, and were temporary residents and strangers in it,

Quando eles eram ainda poucos em número, de pouca importância, e forasteiros nela,

13 W hen they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people,

andando de nação em nação, dum reino para outro povo,

14 H e allowed no man to do them wrong; in fact, He reproved kings for their sakes,

não permitiu que ninguém os oprimisse, e por amor deles repreendeu reis, dizendo:

15 S aying, Touch not My anointed, and do My prophets no harm.

Não toqueis nos meus ungidos, e não maltrateis os meus profetas.

16 M oreover, He called for a famine upon the land; He cut off every source of bread.

Chamou a fome sobre a terra; retirou-lhes todo o sustento do pão.

17 H e sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold as a servant.

Enviou adiante deles um varão; José foi vendido como escravo;

18 H is feet they hurt with fetters; he was laid in chains of iron and his soul entered into the iron,

feriram-lhe os pés com grilhões; puseram-no a ferro,

19 U ntil his word came true, until the word of the Lord tried and tested him.

até o tempo em que a sua palavra se cumpriu; a palavra do Senhor o provou.

20 T he king sent and loosed him, even the ruler of the peoples, and let him go free.

O rei mandou, e fez soltá-lo; o governador dos povos o libertou.

21 H e made Joseph lord of his house and ruler of all his substance,

Fê-lo senhor da sua casa, e governador de toda a sua fazenda,

22 T o bind his princes at his pleasure and teach his elders wisdom.

para, a seu gosto, dar ordens aos príncipes, e ensinar aos anciãos a sabedoria.

23 I srael also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

Então Israel entrou no Egito, e Jacó peregrinou na terra de Cão.

24 T here greatly increased His people and made them stronger than their oppressors.

E o Senhor multiplicou sobremodo o seu povo, e o fez mais poderoso do que os seus inimigos.

25 H e turned the hearts to hate His people, to deal craftily with His servants.

Mudou o coração destes para que odiassem o seu povo, e tratassem astutamente aos seus servos.

26 H e sent Moses His servant, and Aaron, whom He had chosen.

Enviou Moisés, seu servo, e Arão, a quem escolhera,

27 T hey showed His signs among them, wonders and miracles in the land of Ham (Egypt).

os quais executaram entre eles os seus sinais e prodígios na terra de Cão.

28 H e sent darkness and made the land dark, and they rebelled not against His word.

Mandou ã escuridão que a escurecesse; e foram rebeldes ã sua palavra.

29 H e turned waters into blood and caused their fish to die.

Converteu-lhes as águas em sangue, e fez morrer os seus peixes.

30 T heir land brought forth frogs in abundance, even in the chambers of their kings.

A terra deles produziu rãs em abundância, até nas câmaras dos seus reis.

31 H e spoke, and there came swarms of beetles and flies and mosquitoes and lice in all their borders.

Ele falou, e vieram enxames de moscas em todo o seu têrmo.

32 H e gave them hail for rain, with lightning like flaming fire in their land.

Deu-lhes saraiva por chuva, e fogo abrasador na sua terra.

33 H e smote their vines also and their fig trees and broke the trees of their borders.

Feriu-lhes também as vinhas e os figueirais, e quebrou as árvores da sua terra.

34 H e spoke, and the locusts came, and the grasshoppers, and that without number,

Ele falou, e vieram gafanhotos, e pulgões em quantidade inumerável,

35 A nd ate up all the vegetation in their land and devoured the fruit of their ground.

que comeram toda a erva da sua terra, e devoraram o fruto dos seus campos.

36 H e smote also all the firstborn in their land, the beginning and chief substance of all their strength.

Feriu também todos os primogênitos da terra deles, as primícias de toda a sua força.

37 H e brought forth also with silver and gold, and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.

E fez sair os israelitas com prata e ouro, e entre as suas tribos não havia quem tropeçasse.

38 E gypt was glad when they departed, for the fear of them had fallen upon the people.

O Egito alegrou-se quando eles saíram, porque o temor deles o dominara.

39 T he Lord spread a cloud for a covering, and a fire to give light in the night.

Estendeu uma nuvem para os cobrir, e um fogo para os alumiar de noite.

40 a sked, and He brought quails and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

Eles pediram, e ele fez vir codornizes, e os saciou com pão do céu.

41 H e opened the rock, and water gushed out; it ran in the dry places like a river.

Fendeu a rocha, e dela brotaram águas, que correram pelos lugares áridos como um rio.

42 F or He remembered His holy word and promise to Abraham His servant.

Porque se lembrou da sua santa palavra, e de Abraão, seu servo.

43 A nd He brought forth His people with joy, and His chosen ones with gladness and singing,

Fez sair com alegria o seu povo, e com cânticos de júbilo os seus escolhidos.

44 A nd gave them the lands of the nations, and they reaped the fruits of those peoples’ labor,

Deu-lhes as terras das nações, e eles herdaram o fruto do trabalho dos povos,

45 T hat they might observe His statutes and keep His laws. Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)
