1 W e have heard with our ears, O God; our fathers have told us work You did in their days, in the days of old.

Ó Deus, nós ouvimos com os nossos ouvidos, nossos pais nos têm contado os feitos que realizaste em seus dias, nos tempos da antigüidade.

2 Y ou drove out the nations with Your hand and it was Your power that gave a home by rooting out the peoples, but You spread out.

Tu expeliste as nações com a tua mão, mas a eles plantaste; afligiste os povos, mas a eles estendes-te largamente.

3 F or they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your countenance, because You were favorable toward and did delight in them.

Pois não foi pela sua espada que conquistaram a terra, nem foi o seu braço que os salvou, mas a tua destra e o teu braço, e a luz do teu rosto, porquanto te agradaste deles.

4 Y ou are my King, O God; command victories and deliverance for Jacob (Israel).

Tu és o meu Rei, ó Deus; ordena livramento para Jacó.

5 T hrough You shall we push down our enemies; through Your name shall we tread them under who rise up against us.

Por ti derrubamos os nossos adversários; pelo teu nome pisamos os que se levantam contra nós.

6 F or I will not trust in and lean on my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

Pois não confio no meu arco, nem a minha espada me pode salvar.

7 B ut You have saved us from our foes and have put them to shame who hate us.

Mas tu nos salvaste dos nossos adversários, e confundiste os que nos odeiam.

8 I n God we have made our boast all the day long, and we will give thanks to Your name forever. Selah!

Em Deus é que nos temos gloriado o dia todo, e sempre louvaremos o teu nome.

9 B ut now You have cast us off and brought us to dishonor, and You go not out with our armies.

Mas agora nos rejeitaste e nos humilhaste, e não sais com os nossos exércitos.

10 Y ou make us to turn back from the enemy, and they who hate us take spoil for themselves.

Fizeste-nos voltar as costas ao inimigo e aqueles que nos odeiam nos despojam ã vontade.

11 Y ou have made us like sheep intended for mutton and have scattered us in exile among the nations.

Entregaste-nos como ovelhas para alimento, e nos espalhaste entre as nações.

12 Y ou sell Your people for nothing, and have not increased Your wealth by their price.

Vendeste por nada o teu povo, e não lucraste com o seu preço.

13 Y ou have made us the taunt of our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are round about us.

Puseste-nos por opróbrio aos nossos vizinhos, por escárnio e zombaria

14 Y ou make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the heads among the people.

Puseste-nos por provérbio entre as nações, por ludíbrio entre os povos.

15 M y dishonor is before me all day long, and shame has covered my face

A minha ignomínia está sempre diante de mim, e a vergonha do meu rosto me cobre,

16 A t the words of the taunter and reviler, by reason of the enemy and the revengeful.

17 A ll this is come upon us, yet have we not forgotten You, neither have we been false to Your covenant.

Tudo isto nos sobreveio; todavia não nos esquecemos de ti, nem nos houvemos falsamente contra o teu pacto.

18 O ur hearts are not turned back, neither have our steps declined from Your path,

O nosso coração não voltou atrás, nem os nossos passos se desviaram das tuas veredas,

19 T hough You have distressingly broken us in the place of jackals and covered us with deep darkness, even with the shadow of death.

para nos teres esmagado onde habitam os chacais, e nos teres coberto de trevas profundas.

20 I f we had forgotten the name of our God or stretched out our hands to a strange god,

Se nos tivéssemos esquecido do nome do nosso Deus, e estendido as nossas mãos para um deus estranho,

21 W ould not God discover this? For He knows the secrets of the heart.

porventura Deus não haveria de esquadrinhar isso? pois ele conhece os segredos do coração.

22 N o, but for Your sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Mas por amor de ti somos entregues ã morte o dia todo; somos considerados como ovelhas para o matadouro.

23 A wake! Why do You sleep, O Lord? Arouse Yourself, cast us not off forever!

Desperta! por que dormes, Senhor? Acorda! não nos rejeites para sempre.

24 W hy do You hide Your face and forget our affliction and our oppression?

Por que escondes o teu rosto, e te esqueces da nossa tribulação e da nossa angústia?

25 F or our lives are bowed down to the dust; our bodies cleave to the ground.

Pois a nossa alma está abatida até o pó; o nosso corpo pegado ao chão.

26 R ise up! Come to our help, and deliver us for Your mercy’s sake and because of Your steadfast love!

Levanta-te em nosso auxílio, e resgata-nos por tua benignidade.
