1 W e have heard with our ears, O God; our fathers have told us work You did in their days, in the days of old.

Oh Dios, con nuestros oídos hemos oído, nuestros padres nos han contado la obra que hiciste en sus días, en los tiempos antiguos.

2 Y ou drove out the nations with Your hand and it was Your power that gave a home by rooting out the peoples, but You spread out.

Tú con tu mano echaste fuera las naciones, y a ellos los plantaste. Afligiste a los pueblos, y a ellos los hiciste crecer.

3 F or they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your countenance, because You were favorable toward and did delight in them.

Pues no por su espada tomaron posesión de la tierra, ni su brazo los salvó, sino tu diestra y tu brazo, y la luz de tu presencia, porque te complaciste en ellos.

4 Y ou are my King, O God; command victories and deliverance for Jacob (Israel).

Tú eres mi Rey, oh Dios; manda victorias a Jacob.

5 T hrough You shall we push down our enemies; through Your name shall we tread them under who rise up against us.

Contigo rechazaremos a nuestros adversarios; en tu nombre hollaremos a los que contra nosotros se levanten.

6 F or I will not trust in and lean on my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

Porque yo no confiaré en mi arco, ni me salvará mi espada;

7 B ut You have saved us from our foes and have put them to shame who hate us.

pues tú nos has salvado de nuestros adversarios, y has avergonzado a los que nos aborrecen.

8 I n God we have made our boast all the day long, and we will give thanks to Your name forever. Selah!

En Dios nos hemos gloriado todo el día, y por siempre alabaremos tu nombre. (Selah )

9 B ut now You have cast us off and brought us to dishonor, and You go not out with our armies.

Sin embargo, tú nos has rechazado y nos has confundido, y no sales con nuestros ejércitos.

10 Y ou make us to turn back from the enemy, and they who hate us take spoil for themselves.

Nos haces retroceder ante el adversario, y los que nos aborrecen tomaron botín para sí.

11 Y ou have made us like sheep intended for mutton and have scattered us in exile among the nations.

Nos entregas como ovejas para ser devorados, y nos has esparcido entre las naciones.

12 Y ou sell Your people for nothing, and have not increased Your wealth by their price.

Vendes a tu pueblo a bajo precio, y no te has beneficiado con su venta.

13 Y ou have made us the taunt of our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are round about us.

Nos haces el oprobio de nuestros vecinos, escarnio y burla de los que nos rodean.

14 Y ou make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the heads among the people.

Nos pones por proverbio entre las naciones, causa de risa entre los pueblos.

15 M y dishonor is before me all day long, and shame has covered my face

Todo el día mi ignominia está delante de mí, y la vergüenza de mi rostro me ha abrumado,

16 A t the words of the taunter and reviler, by reason of the enemy and the revengeful.

por la voz del que me reprocha y vitupera, por la presencia del enemigo y del vengativo.

17 A ll this is come upon us, yet have we not forgotten You, neither have we been false to Your covenant.

Todo esto nos ha sobrevenido, pero no nos hemos olvidado de ti, ni hemos faltado a tu pacto.

18 O ur hearts are not turned back, neither have our steps declined from Your path,

No se ha vuelto atrás nuestro corazón, ni se han desviado nuestros pasos de tu senda;

19 T hough You have distressingly broken us in the place of jackals and covered us with deep darkness, even with the shadow of death.

sin embargo, nos has quebrantado en la región de los chacales, y nos has cubierto con la sombra de la muerte.

20 I f we had forgotten the name of our God or stretched out our hands to a strange god,

Si nos hubiéramos olvidado del nombre de nuestro Dios, o extendido nuestras manos a un dios extraño,

21 W ould not God discover this? For He knows the secrets of the heart.

¿no se habría dado cuenta Dios de esto? Pues El conoce los secretos del corazón.

22 N o, but for Your sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Pero por causa tuya nos matan cada día; se nos considera como ovejas para el matadero.

23 A wake! Why do You sleep, O Lord? Arouse Yourself, cast us not off forever!

¡Despierta! ¿Por qué duermes, Señor ? ¡Levántate! No nos rechaces para siempre.

24 W hy do You hide Your face and forget our affliction and our oppression?

¿Por qué escondes tu rostro y te olvidas de nuestra aflicción y de nuestra opresión ?

25 F or our lives are bowed down to the dust; our bodies cleave to the ground.

Porque nuestra alma se ha hundido en el polvo; nuestro cuerpo está pegado a la tierra.

26 R ise up! Come to our help, and deliver us for Your mercy’s sake and because of Your steadfast love!

¡Levántate! Sé nuestra ayuda, y redímenos por amor de tu misericordia.
