1 S o six days before the Passover Feast, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had died and whom He had raised from the dead.
Entonces Jesús, seis días antes de la Pascua, vino a Betania donde estaba Lázaro, al que Jesús había resucitado de entre los muertos.
2 S o they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those at the table with Him.
Y le hicieron una cena allí, y Marta servía; pero Lázaro era uno de los que estaban a la mesa con El.
3 M ary took a pound of ointment of pure liquid nard that was very expensive, and she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped them with her hair. And the whole house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
Entonces María, tomando una libra de perfume de nardo puro que costaba mucho, ungió los pies de Jesús, y se los secó con los cabellos, y la casa se llenó con la fragancia del perfume.
4 B ut Judas Iscariot, the one of His disciples who was about to betray Him, said,
Y Judas Iscariote, uno de sus discípulos, el que le iba a entregar, dijo:
5 W hy was this perfume not sold for 300 denarii and that given to the poor (the destitute)?
¿Por qué no se vendió este perfume por trescientos denarios y se dio a los pobres?
6 N ow he did not say this because he cared for the poor but because he was a thief; and having the bag (the money box, the purse of the Twelve), he took for himself what was put into it.
Pero dijo esto, no porque se preocupara por los pobres, sino porque era un ladrón, y como tenía la bolsa del dinero, sustraía de lo que se echaba en ella.
7 B ut Jesus said, Let her alone. It was that she should keep it for the time of My preparation for burial. '> embalming.]
Entonces Jesús dijo: Déjala, para que lo guarde para el día de mi sepultura.
8 Y ou always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me.
Porque a los pobres siempre los tendréis con vosotros; pero a mí no siempre me tendréis. Conspiración para matar a Lázaro
9 N ow a great crowd of the Jews heard that He was at Bethany, and they came there, not only because of Jesus but that they also might see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.
Entonces la gran multitud de judíos se enteró de que Jesús estaba allí; y vinieron no sólo por causa de Jesús, sino también por ver a Lázaro, a quien había resucitado de entre los muertos.
10 S o the chief priests planned to put Lazarus to death also,
Pero los principales sacerdotes resolvieron matar también a Lázaro;
11 B ecause on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in and adhering to Jesus.
porque por causa de él muchos de los judíos se apartaban y creían en Jesús. La entrada triunfal
12 T he next day a vast crowd of those who had come to the Passover Feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.
Al día siguiente, cuando la gran multitud que había venido a la fiesta, oyó que Jesús venía a Jerusalén,
13 S o they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him. And as they went, they kept shouting, Hosanna! Blessed is He and praise to Him Who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!
tomaron hojas de las palmas y salieron a recibirle, y gritaban: ¡Hosanna! Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor, el Rey de Israel.
14 A nd Jesus, having found a young donkey, rode upon it, as it is written in the Scriptures,
Jesús, hallando un asnillo, se montó en él; como está escrito:
15 D o not fear, O Daughter of Zion! Look! Your King is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt!
No temas, hija de Sion; he aqui, tu Rey viene, montado en un pollino de asna.
16 H is disciples did not understand and could not comprehend the meaning of these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified and exalted, they remembered that these things had been written about Him and had been done to Him.
Sus discípulos no entendieron esto al principio, pero después, cuando Jesús fue glorificado, entonces se acordaron de que esto se había escrito de El, y de que le habían hecho estas cosas.
17 T he group that had been with Jesus when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from among the dead kept telling it to others.
Y así, la multitud que estaba con El cuando llamó a Lázaro del sepulcro y lo resucitó de entre los muertos, daba testimonio de El.
18 I t was for this reason that the crowd went out to meet Him, because they had heard that He had performed this sign (proof, miracle).
Por eso la multitud fue también a recibirle, porque habían oído que El había hecho esta señal.
19 T hen the Pharisees said among themselves, You see how futile your efforts are and how you accomplish nothing. See! The whole world is running after Him!
Entonces los fariseos se decían unos a otros: ¿Veis que no conseguís nada? Mirad, todo el mundo se ha ido tras El. Unos griegos buscan a Jesús
20 N ow among those who went up to worship at the Feast were some Greeks.
Y había unos griegos entre los que subían a adorar en la fiesta;
21 T hese came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and they made this request, Sir, we desire to see Jesus.
éstos, pues, fueron a Felipe, que era de Betsaida de Galilea, y le rogaban, diciendo: Señor, queremos ver a Jesús.
22 P hilip came and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip together and told Jesus.
Felipe fue y se lo dijo a Andrés; Andrés y Felipe fueron y se lo dijeron a Jesús.
23 A nd Jesus answered them, The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified and exalted.
Jesús les respondió, diciendo: Ha llegado la hora para que el Hijo del Hombre sea glorificado.
24 I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it produces many others and yields a rich harvest.
En verdad, en verdad os digo que si el grano de trigo no cae en tierra y muere, queda él solo; pero si muere, produce mucho fruto.
25 A nyone who loves his life loses it, but anyone who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal.
El que ama su vida la pierde; y el que aborrece su vida en este mundo, la conservará para vida eterna.
26 I f anyone serves Me, he must continue to follow Me '> to cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying] and wherever I am, there will My servant be also. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.
Si alguno me sirve, que me siga; y donde yo estoy, allí también estará mi servidor; si alguno me sirve, el Padre lo honrará. Discurso de Jesús sobre su muerte
27 N ow My soul is troubled and distressed, and what shall I say? Father, save Me from this hour ? But it was for this very purpose that I have come to this hour.
Ahora mi alma se ha angustiado; y ¿qué diré: “Padre, sálvame de esta hora ”? Pero para esto he llegado a esta hora.
28 F ather, glorify (honor and extol) Your name! Then there came a voice out of heaven saying, I have already glorified it, and I will glorify it again.
Padre, glorifica tu nombre. Entonces vino una voz del cielo: Y le he glorificado, y de nuevo le glorificaré.
29 T he crowd of bystanders heard the sound and said that it had thundered; others said, An angel has spoken to Him!
Por eso la multitud que estaba allí y la oyó, decía que había sido un trueno; otros decían: Un ángel le ha hablado.
30 J esus answered, This voice has not come for My sake, but for your sake.
Respondió Jesús y dijo: Esta voz no ha venido por causa mía, sino por causa de vosotros.
31 N ow the judgment (crisis) of this world is coming on. Now the ruler (evil genius, prince) of this world shall be cast out (expelled).
Ya está aquí el juicio de este mundo; ahora el príncipe de este mundo será echado fuera.
32 A nd I, if and when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw and attract all men to Myself.
Y yo, si soy levantado de la tierra, atraeré a todos a mí mismo.
33 H e said this to signify in what manner He would die.
Pero El decía esto para indicar de qué clase de muerte iba a morir.
34 A t this the people answered Him, We have learned from the Law that the Christ is to remain forever; how then can You say, The Son of Man must be lifted up ? Who is this Son of Man?
Entonces la multitud le respondió: Hemos oído en la ley que el Cristo permanecerá para siempre; ¿y cómo dices tú: “El Hijo del Hombre tiene que ser levantado ”? ¿Quién es este Hijo del Hombre?
35 S o Jesus said to them, You will have the Light only a little while longer. Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness may not overtake and overcome you. He who walks about in the dark does not know where he goes.
Jesús entonces les dijo: Todavía, por un poco de tiempo, la luz estará entre vosotros. Caminad mientras tenéis la luz, para que no os sorprendan las tinieblas; el que anda en la oscuridad no sabe adónde va.
36 W hile you have the Light, believe in the Light, that you may become sons of the Light and be filled with Light. Jesus said these things, and then He went away and hid Himself from them.
Mientras tenéis la luz, creed en la luz, para que seais hijos de la luz. Estas cosas habló Jesús, y se fue y se ocultó de ellos.
37 E ven though He had done so many miracles before them (right before their eyes), yet they still did not trust in Him and failed to believe in Him—
Pero aunque había hecho tantas señales delante de ellos, no creían en El,
38 S o that what Isaiah the prophet said was fulfilled: Lord, who has believed our report and our message? And to whom has the arm (the power) of the Lord been shown (unveiled and revealed)?
para que se cumpliera la palabra del profeta Isaías, que dijo: Señor, ¿quien ha creido a nuestro anuncio ? ¿Y a quien se ha revelado el brazo del Señor ?
39 T herefore they could not believe. For Isaiah has also said,
Por eso no podían creer, porque Isaías dijo también:
40 H e has blinded their eyes and hardened and benumbed their hearts, to keep them from seeing with their eyes and understanding with their hearts and minds and repenting and turning to Me to heal them.
El ha cegado sus ojos y endurecido su corazon, para que no vean con los ojos y entiendan con el corazon, y se conviertan y yo los sane.
41 I saiah said this because he saw His glory and spoke of Him.
Esto dijo Isaías porque vio su gloria, y habló de El.
42 A nd yet many even of the leading men (the authorities and the nobles) believed and trusted in Him. But because of the Pharisees they did not confess it, for fear that they would be expelled from the synagogue;
Sin embargo, muchos, aun de los gobernantes, creyeron en El, pero por causa de los fariseos no lo confesaban, para no ser expulsados de la sinagoga.
43 F or they loved the approval and the praise and the glory that come from men more than the glory that comes from God.
Porque amaban más el reconocimiento de los hombres que el reconocimiento de Dios. Juzgados por la palabra de Jesús
44 B ut Jesus loudly declared, The one who believes in Me does not believe in and trust in and rely on Me, but in Him Who sent Me.
Jesús exclamó y dijo: El que cree en mí, no cree en mí, sino en aquel que me ha enviado.
45 A nd whoever sees Me sees Him Who sent Me.
Y el que me ve, ve al que me ha enviado.
46 I have come as a Light into the world, so that whoever believes in Me may not continue to live in darkness.
Yo, la luz, he venido al mundo, para que todo el que cree en mí no permanezca en tinieblas.
47 I f anyone hears My teachings and fails to observe them, it is not I who judges him. For I have not come to judge and to condemn and to pass sentence and to inflict penalty on the world, but to save the world.
Si alguno oye mis palabras y no las guarda, yo no lo juzgo; porque no vine a juzgar al mundo, sino a salvar al mundo.
48 A nyone who rejects Me and persistently sets Me at naught, refusing to accept My teachings, has his judge; for the message that I have spoken will itself judge and convict him at the last day.
El que me rechaza y no recibe mis palabras, tiene quien lo juzgue; la palabra que he hablado, ésa lo juzgará en el día final.
49 T his is because I have never spoken on My own authority or of My own accord or as self-appointed, but the Father Who sent Me has Himself given Me orders what to say and what to tell.
Porque yo no he hablado por mi propia cuenta, sino que el Padre mismo que me ha enviado me ha dado mandamiento sobre lo que he de decir y lo que he de hablar.
50 A nd I know that His commandment is (means) eternal life. So whatever I speak, I am saying what My Father has told Me to say and in accordance with His instructions.
Y sé que su mandamiento es vida eterna; por eso lo que hablo, lo hablo tal como el Padre me lo ha dicho.
