1 H ezekiah sent to all Israel Judah and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh to come to the Lord’s house at Jerusalem to keep the Passover to the Lord, the God of Israel.

Entonces Ezequías envió aviso por todo Israel y Judá, y también escribió cartas a Efraín y a Manasés, para que vinieran a la casa del Señor en Jerusalén a fin de celebrar la Pascua al Señor, Dios de Israel.

2 F or the king and his princes and all the assembly in Jerusalem took counsel to keep the Passover in the second month.

Pues el rey y sus príncipes y toda la asamblea en Jerusalén habían decidido celebrar la Pascua en el mes segundo,

3 F or they could not keep it at the set time because not enough priests had sanctified themselves, neither had the people assembled in Jerusalem.

porque no la habían podido celebrar a su debido tiempo, pues los sacerdotes no se habían santificado en número suficiente, ni el pueblo se había reunido en Jerusalén.

4 T he new time pleased the king and all the assembly.

Y esto pareció bien a los ojos del rey y de toda la asamblea.

5 S o they decreed to make a proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba to Dan, that the people should come to keep the Passover to the Lord, the God of Israel, at Jerusalem. For they had not kept it collectively as prescribed for a long time.

Así que proclamaron un decreto para hacer correr la voz por todo Israel, desde Beerseba hasta Dan, para que vinieran a celebrar la Pascua al Señor, Dios de Israel, en Jerusalén. Porque muchos no la habían celebrado como estaba escrito.

6 S o the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, as the king commanded, saying, O Israelites, return to the Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, that He may return to those left of you who escaped out of the hands of the kings of Assyria.

Y los mensajeros fueron por todo Israel y Judá con cartas de mano del rey y de sus príncipes, conforme al mandamiento del rey, diciendo: Hijos de Israel, volveos al Señor, Dios de Abraham, de Isaac y de Israel, para que El se vuelva a aquellos de vosotros que escapasteis y que habéis quedado de la mano de los reyes de Asiria.

7 D o not be like your fathers and brethren, who were unfaithful to the Lord, the God of their fathers, so that He gave them up to desolation, as you see.

No seáis como vuestros padres y vuestros hermanos, que fueron infieles al Señor, Dios de sus padres, de modo que El los ha hecho objeto de horror, como vosotros veis.

8 N ow be not stiff-necked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the Lord and come to His sanctuary, which He has sanctified forever, and serve the Lord your God, that His fierce anger may turn away from you.

Y no endurezcáis vuestra cerviz como vuestros padres, sino someteos al Señor y entrad en su santuario, que El ha santificado para siempre, y servid al Señor vuestro Dios para que su ardiente ira se aparte de vosotros.

9 F or if you return to the Lord, your brethren and your children shall find compassion with their captors and return to this land. For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and He will not turn away His face from you if you return to Him.

Porque si os volvéis al Señor, vuestros hermanos y vuestros hijos hallarán compasión delante de los que los llevaron cautivos, y volverán a esta tierra. Porque el Señor vuestro Dios es clemente y compasivo, y no apartará su rostro de vosotros si os volvéis a El.

10 S o the posts passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, even to Zebulun, but the people laughed them to scorn and mocked them.

Pasaron, pues, los correos de ciudad en ciudad por la tierra de Efraín y de Manasés y hasta Zabulón, pero los escarnecían y se burlaban de ellos.

11 Y et, a few of Asher, Manasseh, and Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.

No obstante, algunos hombres de Aser, de Manasés y de Zabulón se humillaron y vinieron a Jerusalén.

12 A lso the hand of God came upon Judah to give them one heart to do the commandment of the king and of the princes, by the word of the Lord.

También sobre Judá estuvo la mano de Dios para darles un solo corazón a fin de hacer lo que el rey y los príncipes ordenaron conforme a la palabra del Señor.

13 A nd many people came to Jerusalem to keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread in the second month, a very great assembly.

Y se reunió mucha gente en Jerusalén en el mes segundo para celebrar la fiesta de los panes sin levadura; una asamblea muy grande.

14 T hey rose up and took away the altars that were in Jerusalem, and all the altars and utensils for incense they took away and threw into the Kidron Valley.

Y se levantaron y quitaron los altares que había en Jerusalén; también quitaron todos los altares de incienso y los arrojaron al torrente Cedrón.

15 T hen they killed the Passover lamb on the fourteenth day of the second month. And the priests and the Levites were ashamed and sanctified themselves and brought burnt offerings to the Lord’s house.

Entonces mataron los corderos de la Pascua el día catorce del mes segundo. Y los sacerdotes y los levitas, avergonzados, se santificaron y trajeron holocaustos a la casa del Señor.

16 T hey stood in their accustomed places, as directed in the Law of Moses the man of God. The priests threw the blood they received from the hand of the Levites.

Y se colocaron en sus puestos según su costumbre, conforme a la ley de Moisés, hombre de Dios; los sacerdotes rociaban la sangre que recibían de mano de los levitas.

17 F or many were in the assembly who had not sanctified themselves. So the Levites had to kill the Passover lambs for all who were not clean, in order to make them holy to the Lord.

Porque había muchos en la asamblea que no se habían santificado; por eso los levitas estaban encargados de la matanza de los corderos de la Pascua por todo el que estaba inmundo, para santificar los al Señor.

18 F or a multitude of the people, many from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Passover otherwise than Moses directed. For Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying, May the good Lord pardon everyone

Pues una gran multitud del pueblo, es decir, muchos de Efraín y de Manasés, de Isacar y de Zabulón, no se habían purificado; no obstante, comieron la Pascua contrario a lo escrito. Empero Ezequías oró por ellos, diciendo: Que el buen Señor perdone

19 W ho sets his heart to seek and yearn for God—the Lord, the God of his fathers—even though not complying with the purification regulations of the sanctuary.

a todo el que prepare su corazón para buscar a Dios el Señor, Dios de sus padres, aunque no lo haga conforme a los ritos de purificación del santuario.

20 A nd the Lord hearkened to Hezekiah and healed the people.

Y oyó el Señor a Ezequías y sanó al pueblo.

21 A nd the Israelites who were in Jerusalem kept the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days with great joy. The Levites and priests praised the Lord day by day, singing with instruments of much volume to the Lord.

Y los hijos de Israel que se hallaban en Jerusalén celebraron con gran alegría la fiesta de los panes sin levadura por siete días; y los levitas y los sacerdotes alababan al Señor día tras día, cantando con instrumentos resonantes al Señor.

22 H ezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who had good understanding in the Lord’s work. So the people ate the seven-day appointed feast, offering peace offerings, making confession to the Lord, the God of their fathers.

Entonces Ezequías habló al corazón de todos los levitas que mostraban buen entendimiento en las cosas del Señor. Y comieron durante los siete días señalados, sacrificando ofrendas de paz y dando gracias al Señor, Dios de sus padres.

23 A nd the whole assembly took counsel to prolong the feast another seven days; and they kept it another seven days with joy.

Y toda la asamblea determinó celebrar la fiesta otros siete días; y celebraron los siete días con alegría.

24 F or Hezekiah king of Judah gave to the assembly 1, 000 young bulls and 7, 000 sheep, and the princes gave 1, 000 young bulls and 10, 000 sheep. And a great number of priests sanctified themselves.

Porque Ezequías, rey de Judá, había contribuido a la asamblea mil novillos y siete mil ovejas; y los príncipes habían contribuido a la asamblea mil novillos y diez mil ovejas; y gran número de sacerdotes se santificaron.

25 A ll the assembly of Judah, with the priests, the Levites, and all the assembly who with the sojourners came from the land of Israel to dwell in Judah, rejoiced.

Y se regocijó toda la asamblea de Judá, junto con los sacerdotes, los levitas y todo el pueblo que vino de Israel, tanto los peregrinos que vinieron de la tierra de Israel como los que habitaban en Judá.

26 S o there was great joy in Jerusalem, for since the time of Solomon son of David king of Israel there was nothing like this in Jerusalem.

Y hubo gran regocijo en Jerusalén, porque desde los días de Salomón, hijo de David, rey de Israel, no había habido cosa semejante en Jerusalén.

27 T hen the priests and Levites arose and blessed the people; and their voice was heard and their prayer came up to holy habitation in heaven.

Entonces los sacerdotes levitas se levantaron y bendijeron al pueblo; y se oyó su voz, y su oración llegó hasta su santa morada, hasta los cielos.
