1 T he word of the Lord came again to me, saying,

2 N ow you, son of man, take up a lamentation over Tyre,

Tú, hijo de hombre, eleva una elegía por Tiro;

3 A nd say to Tyre, O you who dwell at the entrance to the sea, who are merchant of the peoples of many islands and coastlands, thus says the Lord God: O Tyre, you have thought and said, I am perfect in beauty.

y di a Tiro, que está asentada en las entradas del mar, negociante de los pueblos de muchas costas: “Así dice el Señor Dios: ‘Tiro, tú has dicho: “Soy de perfecta hermosura.”

4 Y our borders are in the heart of the seas; your builders have perfected your beauty.

‘En el corazón de los mares están tus fronteras; tus edificadores perfeccionaron tu hermosura.

5 T hey have made all your planks and boards of fir trees from Senir; they have taken a cedar from Lebanon to make a mast for you.

‘De los cipreses de Senir te han hecho todas tus tablas; del Líbano han tomado un cedro para hacerte un mástil.

6 O f the oaks of Bashan they have made your oars; they have made your deck and benches of boxwood from the coasts of Cyprus, inlaid with ivory.

‘De encinas de Basán han hecho tus remos; tu cubierta de boj de las costas de Chipre han incrustado con marfil.

7 O f fine linen with embroidered work from Egypt was your sail, that it might be an ensign for you; blue and purple from the coasts of Elishah was the awning which covered you.

‘De lino fino bordado de Egipto era tu vela para que te sirviera de distintivo; de azul y púrpura de las costas de Elisa era tu pabellón.

8 T he inhabitants of Sidon and of Arvad were your oarsmen; your skilled and wise men, O Tyre, were in you; they were your pilots.

‘Los habitantes de Sidón y de Arvad eran tus remeros; tus sabios, Tiro, estaban a bordo; eran tus pilotos.

9 T he old men of Gebal and its skilled and wise men in you were your calkers; all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in you to deal in your merchandise and trading.

‘Los ancianos de Gebal y sus mejores obreros estaban contigo reparando tus junturas; todas las naves del mar y sus marineros estaban contigo para negociar con tus productos.

10 P ersia and Lud and Put were in your army as your men of war; they hung the shield and helmet in you; they gave you beauty and splendor.

‘Los persas, los de Lud y los de Fut eran en tu ejército tus hombres de guerra. Colgaban en ti el escudo y el yelmo, manifestaban tu esplendor.

11 T he men of Arvad with your army were upon your walls round about and valorous men were in your towers; they hung their shields upon your walls round about; they have perfected your beauty and splendor.

‘Los hijos de Arvad, con tu ejército, estaban en tus murallas todo alrededor, y los gamadeos estaban en tus torres. Colgaban sus escudos en tus murallas todo alrededor; ellos perfeccionaban tu hermosura.

12 T arshish carried on traffic with you because of the abundance of your riches of all kinds; with silver, iron, tin, and lead they traded for your wares.

‘Tarsis era tu cliente por la abundancia de toda riqueza; con plata, hierro, estaño y plomo pagaban tus mercancías.

13 J avan (Greece), Tubal, and Meshech traded with you. They exchanged the lives of men and vessels of bronze for your merchandise.

‘Javán, Tubal y Mesec comerciaban contigo; con hombres y con utensilios de bronce pagaban tus productos.

14 T hey of the house of Togarmah (Armenia) traded for your wares with horses, cavalry horses, and mules.

‘Los de Bet-togarmá daban caballos y corceles de guerra y mulos por tus mercancías.

15 T he men of Dedan traded with you; many islands and coastlands were your own markets; they brought you in payment or as presents ivory tusks and ebony.

‘Los hijos de Dedán comerciaban contigo. Muchas costas eran clientes tuyas; colmillos de marfil y madera de ébano te traían como pago.

16 A ram (Syria or Mesopotamia) and Edom traded with you because of the multitude of the wares of your making. They exchanged for your merchandise emeralds, purple, embroidered work, fine linen, coral, and agate or rubies.

‘Aram era tu cliente por la abundancia de tus productos; pagaban tus mercancías con turquesas, púrpura, bordados, lino fino, corales y rubíes.

17 J udah and the land of Israel, they were your traders; they exchanged in your market wheat of Minnith, olives or early figs, honey, oil, and balm.

‘Judá y la tierra de Israel comerciaban contigo; con trigo de Minit, tortas, miel, aceite y bálsamo pagaban tus productos.

18 D amascus traded with you because of the abundance of supplies of your handiworks and the immense wealth of every kind, with wine of Helbon and white wool.

‘Damasco era tu cliente por la abundancia de tus productos, por la abundancia de toda riqueza, por el vino de Helbón y la lana blanca.

19 V edan also and Javan traded with yarn from Uzal for your wares; wrought iron, cassia, and calamus were exchanged for your merchandise.

‘Vedán y Javán pagaban tus mercancías desde Uzal; hierro forjado, casia y caña dulce estaban entre tus productos.

20 D edan supplied you with precious cloths for riding.

‘Dedán comerciaba contigo en mantas para cabalgaduras.

21 A rabia and all the princes of Kedar, they were the merchants in lambs, rams, and goats favored by you; in these they traded with you.

‘Arabia y todos los príncipes de Cedar eran clientes tuyos: comerciaban en corderos, carneros y machos cabríos; en estas cosas eran tus clientes.

22 T he merchants of Sheba and Raamah traded with you; they exchanged for your wares the choicest of all kinds of spices and all precious stones and gold.

‘Los comerciantes de Sabá y de Raama comerciaban contigo; con lo mejor de todas las especias, y con toda clase de piedras preciosas y oro pagaban tus mercancías.

23 H aran and Canneh and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad were your traders.

‘Harán, Cane, Edén, los comerciantes de Sabá, de Asiria y de Quilmad comerciaban contigo.

24 T hese traded with you in choice fabrics, in bales of garments of blue and embroidered work, and in treasures of many colored rich damask and carpets bound with cords and made firm; in these they traded with you.

‘Ellos comerciaban contigo en lujosos vestidos, en mantos de azul y bordados, en tapices multicolores, en cordones firmemente trenzados, que había entre tus mercancías.

25 T he ships of Tarshish were your caravans for your merchandise, and you were replenished and were heavily loaded and made an imposing fleet in the heart of the seas.

‘Las naves de Tarsis eran las portadoras de tus productos. Fuiste repleta y muy gloriosa en el corazón de los mares.

26 Y our rowers have brought you out into great and deep waters; the east wind has broken and wrecked you in the heart of the seas.

‘A muchas aguas te condujeron tus remeros; el viento solano te destrozó en el corazón de los mares.

27 Y our riches, your wares, your merchandise, your oarsmen and your pilots, your caulkers, your dealers in merchandise, and all your men of war who are in you, with all your company which is in your midst, sink in the heart of the seas on the day of your ruin!

‘Tus riquezas, tus mercancías, tu comercio, tus marineros y tus pilotos, tus calafates, tus agentes comerciales, y todos los hombres de guerra que hay en ti, con toda tu tripulación que en medio de ti está, caerán en el corazón de los mares el día de tu derrota.

28 T he waves and the countryside shake at the sound of the cry of your pilots.

‘A la voz del grito de tus pilotos se estremecerán las praderas.

29 A nd down from their ships come all who handle the oar. The mariners and all the pilots of the sea stand upon the shore

‘Y descenderán de sus naves todos los que empuñan el remo; los marineros y todos los pilotos del mar se quedarán en tierra;

30 A nd are heard wailing loudly over you, and they cry bitterly. They cast up dust on their heads; they wallow in ashes,

harán oír su voz por ti y gritarán amargamente. Echarán polvo sobre sus cabezas, se revolcarán en ceniza;

31 A nd they make themselves bald for you and gird themselves with sackcloth, and they weep over you in bitterness of heart and with bitter mourning and wailing.

se raparán la cabeza por tu causa y se ceñirán de cilicio; llorarán por ti, en la amargura de su alma, con amargo duelo.

32 A nd in their wailing they take up a lamentation for you and lament over you, saying, Who was ever like Tyre, the destroyed (the annihilated), in the heart of the sea?

‘Elevarán por ti una elegía en su llanto y se lamentarán por ti: “¿Quién como Tiro, como la silenciosa en medio del mar ?

33 W hen your wares came forth from the seas, you met the desire, the demand, and the necessities of many people; you enriched the kings of the earth with your abundant wealth and merchandise.

“Cuando tus mercancías salían por los mares saciabas a muchos pueblos; con la abundancia de tus riquezas y de tus productos enriquecías a los reyes de la tierra.

34 N ow you are shattered by the seas in the depths of the waters; your merchandise and all your crew have gone down with you.

“Ahora que estás destrozada por los mares en las profundidades de las aguas, tu carga y toda tu tripulación se han hundido contigo.

35 A ll the inhabitants of the isles and coastlands are astonished and appalled at you, and their kings are horribly frightened and shudder greatly; their faces quiver.

“Todos los habitantes de las costas están pasmados por causa tuya; sus reyes están aterrorizados sobremanera, demudados sus rostros.

36 T he merchants among the people hiss over you; you have become a horror and a source of terrors. You shall be no more.

“Los mercaderes entre los pueblos te silban; te has convertido en terrores, y ya no serás más.”’”
