1 W hen the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon with the name of the Lord, she came to prove him with hard questions (problems and riddles).

Cuando la reina de Sabá oyó de la fama de Salomón, por causa del nombre del Señor, vino a probarle con preguntas difíciles.

2 S he came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels bearing spices, very much gold, and precious stones. When she had come to Solomon, she communed with him about all that was in her mind.

Y vino a Jerusalén con un séquito muy grande, con camellos cargados de especias, y gran cantidad de oro y piedras preciosas. Cuando vino a Salomón, habló con él de todo lo que tenía en su corazón.

3 S olomon answered all her questions; there was nothing hidden from the king which he failed to explain to her.

Y Salomón contestó todas sus preguntas; no hubo nada tan oscuro que el rey no pudiera explicárselo.

4 W hen the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon’s wisdom and skill, the house he had built,

Cuando la reina de Sabá vio toda la sabiduría de Salomón, la casa que él había edificado,

5 T he food of his table, the seating of his officials, the standing at attention of his servants, their apparel, his cupbearers, his ascent by which he went up to the house of the Lord, she was breathless and overcome.

los manjares de su mesa, las habitaciones de sus siervos, el porte de sus ministros y sus vestiduras, sus coperos, y la escalinata por la cual él subía a la casa del Señor, se quedó asombrada.

6 S he said to the king, It was a true report I heard in my own land of your acts and sayings and wisdom.

Entonces dijo al rey: Era verdad lo que había oído en mi tierra acerca de tus palabras y de tu sabiduría.

7 I did not believe it until I came and my eyes had seen. Behold, the half was not told me. You have added wisdom and goodness exceeding the fame I heard.

Pero yo no creía lo que me decían, hasta que he venido y mis ojos lo han visto. Y he aquí, no se me había contado ni la mitad. Tú superas en sabiduría y prosperidad la fama que había oído.

8 H appy are your men! Happy are these your servants who stand continually before you, hearing your wisdom!

Bienaventurados tus hombres, bienaventurados estos tus siervos que están delante de ti continuamente y oyen tu sabiduría.

9 B lessed be the Lord your God, Who delighted in you and set you on the throne of Israel! Because the Lord loved Israel forever, He made you king to execute justice and righteousness.

Bendito sea el Señor tu Dios que se agradó de ti para ponerte sobre el trono de Israel; por el amor que el Señor ha tenido siempre a Israel, te ha puesto por rey para hacer derecho y justicia.

10 A nd she gave the king 120 talents of gold and of spices a very great store and precious stones. Never again came such abundance of spices as these the queen of Sheba gave King Solomon.

Entonces ella dio al rey ciento veinte talentos de oro, y gran cantidad de especias aromáticas y piedras preciosas. Nunca más entró tanta abundancia de especias aromáticas como las que la reina de Sabá dio al rey Salomón.

11 T he navy also of Hiram brought from Ophir gold and a great plenty of almug (algum) wood and precious stones.

También las naves de Hiram, que habían traído oro de Ofir, trajeron de allí gran cantidad de madera de sándalo y piedras preciosas.

12 O f the almug wood the king made pillars for the house of the Lord and for the king’s house, and lyres also and harps for the singers. No such almug wood came again or has been seen to this day.

Con la madera de sándalo el rey hizo balaustres para la casa del Señor y para el palacio del rey; también liras y arpas para los cantores; esa clase de madera de sándalo no ha entrado más ni se ha vuelto a ver hasta hoy.

13 K ing Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all she wanted, whatever she asked, besides his gifts to her from his royal bounty. So she returned to her own country, she and her servants.

El rey Salomón dio a la reina de Sabá todo cuanto ella quiso pedirle, además de lo que le dio conforme a su real magnificencia. Después ella se volvió, y regresó a su tierra con sus siervos. Riqueza y sabiduría de Salomón

14 N ow the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was 666 talents of gold,

El peso del oro que llegaba a Salomón en un año era de seiscientos sesenta y seis talentos de oro,

15 B esides what the traders brought and the traffic of the merchants and from all the kings and governors of the land of Arabia.

sin contar lo de los mercaderes, las mercancías de los comerciantes, de todos los reyes de Arabia y de los gobernadores de la tierra.

16 K ing Solomon made 200 large shields of beaten gold; 600 shekels of gold went into each shield.

Y el rey Salomón hizo doscientos escudos grandes de oro batido, usando seiscientos siclos de oro en cada escudo.

17 A nd he made 300 shields of beaten gold; three minas of gold went into each shield. The king put them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon.

También hizo trescientos escudos de oro batido, usando tres minas de oro en cada escudo; y el rey los puso en la casa del bosque del Líbano.

18 A lso the king made a great throne of ivory and overlaid it with the finest gold.

El rey hizo además, un gran trono de marfil y lo revistió de oro finísimo.

19 T he throne had six steps, and attached at the rear of the top of the throne was a round covering or canopy. On either side of the seat were armrests, and two lions stood beside the armrests.

Había seis gradas hasta el trono, y por detrás, la parte superior del trono era redonda, con brazos a cada lado del asiento y dos leones de pie junto a los brazos.

20 T welve lions stood there, one on either end of each of the six steps; there was nothing like it ever made in any kingdom.

Y doce leones estaban de pie allí en las seis gradas a uno y otro lado; nada semejante se hizo para ningún otro reino.

21 A ll King Solomon’s drinking vessels were of gold, and all vessels of the House of the Forest of Lebanon were of pure gold. None were of silver; it was accounted as nothing in the days of Solomon.

Todos los vasos de beber del rey Salomón eran de oro, también todas las vasijas de la casa del bosque del Líbano eran de oro puro, ninguna era de plata; ésta no se consideraba de ningún valor en los días de Salomón,

22 F or the king had a fleet of ships of Tarshish at sea with the fleet of Hiram. Once every three years the fleet of ships of Tarshish came bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.

porque el rey tenía en el mar las naves de Tarsis con las naves de Hiram, y cada tres años las naves de Tarsis venían trayendo oro, plata, marfil, monos y pavos reales.

23 S o King Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom (skill).

Así el rey Salomón llegó a ser más grande que todos los reyes de la tierra en riqueza y sabiduría.

24 A nd all the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom which God had put in his mind.

Y toda la tierra procuraba ver a Salomón, para oír la sabiduría que Dios había puesto en su corazón.

25 E very man brought tribute: vessels of silver and gold, garments, equipment, spices, horses, and mules, so much year by year.

Cada uno de ellos traía su presente: objetos de plata y objetos de oro, vestidos, armas, especias, caballos y mulos; y así año tras año.

26 S olomon collected chariots and horsemen; he had 1, 400 chariots and 12, 000 horsemen, which he stationed in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem.

Salomón reunió carros y hombres de a caballo; y tenía mil cuatrocientos carros y doce mil hombres de a caballo, y los situó en las ciudades de carros y en Jerusalén, junto al rey.

27 T he king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars as plentiful as the sycamore trees in the lowlands.

El rey hizo la plata tan común en Jerusalén como las piedras, e hizo los cedros tan abundantes como los sicómoros que están en el llano.

28 S olomon’s horses were brought out of Egypt, and the king’s merchants received them in droves, each at a price.

Los caballos de Salomón eran importados de Egipto y de Coa, y los mercaderes del rey los adquirían de Coa por cierto precio.

29 A chariot could be brought out of Egypt for 600 shekels of silver, and a horse for 150. And so to all the kings of the Hittites and of Syria they were exported by the king’s merchants.

Y se importaba un carro de Egipto por seiscientos siclos de plata, y un caballo por ciento cincuenta, y de la misma forma los exportaban a todos los reyes de los hititas y a los reyes de Aram.
