1 B ut on the first day of the week, at early dawn, went to the tomb, taking the spices which they had made ready.

Pero el primer día de la semana, al rayar el alba, las mujeres vinieron al sepulcro trayendo las especias aromáticas que habían preparado.

2 A nd they found the stone rolled back from the tomb,

Y encontraron que la piedra había sido removida del sepulcro,

3 B ut when they went inside, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

y cuando entraron, no hallaron el cuerpo del Señor Jesús.

4 A nd while they were perplexed and wondering what to do about this, behold, two men in dazzling raiment suddenly stood beside them.

Y aconteció que estando ellas perplejas por esto, de pronto se pusieron junto a ellas dos varones en vestiduras resplandecientes;

5 A nd as were frightened and were bowing their faces to the ground, the men said to them, Why do you look for the living among dead?

y estando ellas aterrorizadas e inclinados sus rostros a tierra, ellos les dijeron: ¿Por qué buscáis entre los muertos al que vive?

6 H e is not here, but has risen! Remember how He told you while He was still in Galilee

No está aquí, sino que ha resucitado. Acordaos cómo os habló cuando estaba aún en Galilea,

7 T hat the Son of Man must be given over into the hands of sinful men (men whose way or nature is to act in opposition to God) and be crucified and on the third day rise '> from death].

diciendo que el Hijo del Hombre debía ser entregado en manos de hombres pecadores, y ser crucificado, y al tercer día resucitar.

8 A nd they remembered His words.

Entonces ellas se acordaron de sus palabras,

9 A nd having returned from the tomb, they reported all these things to the eleven apostles and to all the rest.

y regresando del sepulcro, anunciaron todas estas cosas a los once y a todos los demás.

10 N ow it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who reported these things to the apostles.

Eran María Magdalena y Juana y María, la madre de Jacobo; también las demás mujeres con ellas referían estas cosas a los apóstoles.

11 B ut these reports seemed to the men an idle tale ( madness, feigned things, nonsense), and they did not believe the women.

Y a ellos estas palabras les parecieron como disparates, y no las creyeron.

12 B ut Peter got up and ran to the tomb; and stooping down and looking in, he saw the linen cloths alone by themselves, and he went away, wondering about and marveling at what had happened.

Pero Pedro se levantó y corrió al sepulcro; e inclinándose para mirar adentro, vio sólo las envolturas de lino; y se fue a su casa, maravillado de lo que había acontecido. Jesús se manifiesta a dos discípulos

13 A nd behold, that very day two of were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem.

Y he aquí que aquel mismo día dos de ellos iban a una aldea llamada Emaús, que estaba como a once kilómetros de Jerusalén.

14 A nd they were talking with each other about all these things that had occurred.

Y conversaban entre sí acerca de todas estas cosas que habían acontecido.

15 A nd while they were conversing and discussing together, Jesus Himself caught up with them and was already accompanying them.

Y sucedió que mientras conversaban y discutían, Jesús mismo se acercó y caminaba con ellos.

16 B ut their eyes were held, so that they did not recognize Him.

Pero sus ojos estaban velados para que no le reconocieran.

17 A nd He said to them, What is this discussion that you are exchanging ( throwing back and forth) between yourselves as you walk along? And they stood still, looking sad and downcast.

Y El les dijo: ¿Qué discusiones son estas que tenéis entre vosotros mientras vais andando? Y ellos se detuvieron, con semblante triste.

18 T hen one of them, named Cleopas, answered Him, Do you alone dwell as a stranger in Jerusalem and not know the things that have occurred there in these days?

Respondiendo uno de ellos, llamado Cleofas, le dijo: ¿Eres tú el único visitante en Jerusalén que no sabe las cosas que en ella han acontecido en estos días?

19 A nd He said to them, What things? And they said to Him, About Jesus of Nazareth, Who was a Prophet mighty in work and word before God and all the people—

Entonces El les dijo: ¿Qué cosas? Y ellos le dijeron: Las referentes a Jesús el Nazareno, que fue un profeta poderoso en obra y en palabra delante de Dios y de todo el pueblo;

20 A nd how our chief priests and rulers gave Him up to be sentenced to death, and crucified Him.

y cómo los principales sacerdotes y nuestros gobernantes le entregaron a sentencia de muerte y le crucificaron.

21 B ut we were hoping that it was He Who would redeem and set Israel free. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things occurred.

Pero nosotros esperábamos que El era el que iba a redimir a Israel. Pero además de todo esto, este es el tercer día desde que estas cosas acontecieron.

22 A nd moreover, some women of our company astounded us and drove us out of our senses. They were at the tomb early

Y también algunas mujeres de entre nosotros nos asombraron; pues cuando fueron de madrugada al sepulcro,

23 B ut did not find His body; and they returned saying that they had seen a vision of angels, who said that He was alive!

y al no hallar su cuerpo, vinieron diciendo que también habían visto una aparición de ángeles que decían que El vivía.

24 S o some of those with us went to the tomb and they found it just as the women had said, but Him they did not see.

Algunos de los que estaban con nosotros fueron al sepulcro, y lo hallaron tal como también las mujeres habían dicho; pero a El no le vieron.

25 A nd said to them, O foolish ones and slow of heart to believe (adhere to and trust in and rely on) everything that the prophets have spoken!

Entonces Jesús les dijo: ¡Oh insensatos y tardos de corazón para creer todo lo que los profetas han dicho!

26 W as it not necessary and essentially fitting that the Christ (the Messiah) should suffer all these things before entering into His glory (His majesty and splendor)?

¿No era necesario que el Cristo padeciera todas estas cosas y entrara en su gloria ?

27 T hen beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He went on explaining and interpreting to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning and referring to Himself.

Y comenzando por Moisés y continuando con todos los profetas, les explicó lo referente a El en todas las Escrituras.

28 T hen they drew near the village to which they were going, and He acted as if He would go further.

Se acercaron a la aldea adonde iban, y El hizo como que iba más lejos.

29 B ut they urged and insisted, saying to Him, Remain with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is now far spent. So He went in to stay with them.

Y ellos le instaron, diciendo: Quédate con nosotros, porque está atardeciendo, y el día ya ha declinado. Y entró a quedarse con ellos.

30 A nd it occurred that as He reclined at table with them, He took bread and praised and gave thanks and asked a blessing, and then broke it and was giving it to them

Y sucedió que al sentarse a la mesa con ellos, tomó pan, y lo bendijo; y partiéndo lo, les dio.

31 W hen their eyes were opened and they recognized Him, and He vanished ( departed invisibly).

Entonces les fueron abiertos los ojos y le reconocieron; pero El desapareció de la presencia de ellos.

32 A nd they said to one another, Were not our hearts greatly moved and burning within us while He was talking with us on the road and as He opened and explained to us the Scriptures?

Y se dijeron el uno al otro: ¿No ardía nuestro corazón dentro de nosotros mientras nos hablaba en el camino, cuando nos abría las Escrituras ?

33 A nd rising up that very hour, they went back to Jerusalem, where they found the Eleven gathered together and those who were with them,

Y levantándose en esa misma hora, regresaron a Jerusalén, y hallaron reunidos a los once y a los que estaban con ellos,

34 W ho said, The Lord really has risen and has appeared to Simon (Peter)!

que decían: Es verdad que el Señor ha resucitado y se ha aparecido a Simón.

35 T hen they related what had happened on the road, and how He was known and recognized by them in the breaking of bread.

Y ellos contaban sus experiencias en el camino, y cómo le habían reconocido en el partir del pan. Jesús se aparece a los discípulos

36 N ow while they were talking about this, Jesus Himself took His stand among them and said to them, Peace ( freedom from all the distresses that are experienced as the result of sin) be to you!

Mientras ellos relataban estas cosas, Jesús se puso en medio de ellos, y les dijo: Paz a vosotros.

37 B ut they were so startled and terrified that they thought they saw a spirit.

Pero ellos, aterrorizados y asustados, pensaron que veían un espíritu.

38 A nd He said to them, Why are you disturbed and troubled, and why do such doubts and questionings arise in your hearts?

Y El les dijo: ¿Por qué estáis turbados, y por qué surgen dudas en vuestro corazón?

39 S ee My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself! Feel and handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see that I have.

Mirad mis manos y mis pies, que soy yo mismo; palpadme y ved, porque un espíritu no tiene carne ni huesos como veis que yo tengo.

40 A nd when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.

Y cuando dijo esto, les mostró las manos y los pies.

41 A nd while they still could not believe it for sheer joy and marveled, He said to them, Have you anything here to eat?

Como ellos todavía no lo creían a causa de la alegría y que estaban asombrados, les dijo: ¿Tenéis aquí algo de comer ?

42 T hey gave Him a piece of broiled fish,

Entonces ellos le presentaron parte de un pescado asado.

43 A nd He took and ate before them.

Y El lo tomó y comió delante de ellos. La gran comisión

44 T hen He said to them, This is what I told you while I was still with you: everything which is written concerning Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.

Y les dijo: Esto es lo que yo os decía cuando todavía estaba con vosotros: que era necesario que se cumpliera todo lo que sobre mí está escrito en la ley de Moisés, en los profetas y en los salmos.

45 T hen He opened up their minds to understand the Scriptures,

Entonces les abrió la mente para que comprendieran las Escrituras,

46 A nd said to them, Thus it is written that the Christ (the Messiah) should suffer and on the third day rise from ( among) the dead,

y les dijo: Así está escrito, que el Cristo padeciera y resucitara de entre los muertos al tercer día;

47 A nd that repentance forgiveness of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

y que en su nombre se predicara el arrepentimiento para el perdón de los pecados a todas las naciones, comenzando desde Jerusalén.

48 Y ou are witnesses of these things.

Vosotros sois testigos de estas cosas.

49 A nd behold, I will send forth upon you what My Father has promised; but remain in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.

Y he aquí, yo enviaré sobre vosotros la promesa de mi Padre; pero vosotros, permaneced en la ciudad hasta que seáis investidos con poder de lo alto. Jesús se despide de sus discípulos

50 T hen He conducted them out as far as Bethany, and, lifting up His hands, He invoked a blessing on them.

Entonces los condujo fuera de la ciudad, hasta cerca de Betania, y alzando sus manos, los bendijo.

51 A nd it occurred that while He was blessing them, He parted from them and was taken up into heaven.

Y aconteció que mientras los bendecía, se separó de ellos y fue llevado arriba al cielo.

52 A nd they, worshiping Him, went back to Jerusalem with great joy;

Ellos, después de adorarle, regresaron a Jerusalén con gran gozo,

53 A nd they were continually in the temple celebrating with praises and blessing and extolling God. Amen (so be it).

y estaban siempre en el templo alabando a Dios.
