1 A nd six days after this, Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves.

Seis días después, Jesús tomó consigo a Pedro, a Jacobo y a Juan su hermano, y los llevó aparte a un monte alto;

2 A nd His appearance underwent a change in their presence; and His face shone clear and bright like the sun, and His clothing became as white as light.

y se transfiguró delante de ellos; y su rostro resplandeció como el sol, y sus vestiduras se volvieron blancas como la luz.

3 A nd behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, who kept talking with Him.

Y he aquí, se les aparecieron Moisés y Elías hablando con El.

4 T hen Peter began to speak and said to Jesus, Lord, it is good and delightful that we are here; if You approve, I will put up three booths here—one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah.

Entonces Pedro, tomando la palabra, dijo a Jesús: Señor, bueno es estarnos aquí; si quieres, haré aquí tres enramadas, una para ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías.

5 W hile he was still speaking, behold, a shining cloud '> composed of light] overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, This is My Son, My Beloved, with Whom I am '> have always been] delighted. Listen to Him!

Mientras estaba aún hablando, he aquí, una nube luminosa los cubrió; y una voz salió de la nube, diciendo: Este es mi Hijo amado en quien me he complacido; a El oíd.

6 W hen the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were seized with alarm and struck with fear.

Cuando los discípulos oyeron esto, cayeron sobre sus rostros y tuvieron gran temor.

7 B ut Jesus came and touched them and said, Get up, and do not be afraid.

Entonces se les acercó Jesús, y tocándolos, dijo: Levantaos y no temáis.

8 A nd when they raised their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.

Y cuando alzaron sus ojos no vieron a nadie, sino a Jesús solo. Elías y Juan el Bautista

9 A nd as they were going down the mountain, Jesus cautioned and commanded them, Do not mention to anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.

Mientras descendían del monte, Jesús les ordenó, diciendo: No contéis a nadie la visión hasta que el Hijo del Hombre haya resucitado de entre los muertos.

10 T he disciples asked Him, Then why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?

Y sus discípulos le preguntaron, diciendo: ¿Por qué, pues, dicen los escribas que Elías debe venir primero?

11 H e replied, Elijah does come and will get everything restored and ready.

Y respondiendo El, dijo: Elías ciertamente viene, y restaurará todas las cosas;

12 B ut I tell you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know or recognize him, but did to him as they liked. So also the Son of Man is going to be treated and suffer at their hands.

pero yo os digo que Elías ya vino y no lo reconocieron, sino que le hicieron todo lo que quisieron. Así también el Hijo del Hombre va a padecer a manos de ellos.

13 T hen the disciples understood that He spoke to them about John the Baptist.

Entonces los discípulos entendieron que les había hablado de Juan el Bautista. Jesús sana a un muchacho epiléptico

14 A nd when they approached the multitude, a man came up to Him, kneeling before Him and saying,

Cuando llegaron a la multitud, se le acercó un hombre, que arrodillándose delante de El, dijo:

15 L ord, do pity and have mercy on my son, for he has epilepsy (is moonstruck) and he suffers terribly; for frequently he falls into the fire and many times into the water.

Señor, ten misericordia de mi hijo, porque es epiléptico y sufre terriblemente, porque muchas veces cae en el fuego y muchas en el agua.

16 A nd I brought him to Your disciples, and they were not able to cure him.

Y lo traje a tus discípulos y ellos no pudieron curarlo.

17 A nd Jesus answered, O you unbelieving ( warped, wayward, rebellious) and thoroughly perverse generation! How long am I to remain with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to Me.

Respondiendo Jesús, dijo: ¡Oh generación incrédula y perversa! ¿Hasta cuándo estaré con vosotros? ¿Hasta cuándo os tendré que soportar? Traédmelo acá.

18 A nd Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was cured instantly.

Y Jesús lo reprendió y el demonio salió de él, y el muchacho quedó curado desde aquel momento.

19 T hen the disciples came to Jesus and asked privately, Why could we not drive it out?

Entonces los discípulos, llegándose a Jesús en privado, dijeron: ¿Por qué nosotros no pudimos expulsarlo?

20 H e said to them, Because of the littleness of your faith '> firmly relying trust]. For truly I say to you, if you have faith '> that is living] like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to yonder place, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.

Y El les dijo: Por vuestra poca fe; porque en verdad os digo que si tenéis fe como un grano de mostaza, diréis a este monte: “Pásate de aquí allá”, y se pasará; y nada os será imposible.

21 B ut this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.

Pero esta clase no sale sino con oración y ayuno. Jesús anuncia otra vez su muerte

22 W hen they were going about here and there in Galilee, Jesus said to them, The Son of Man is going to be turned over into the hands of men.

Mientras andaban juntos por Galilea, Jesús les dijo: El Hijo del Hombre va a ser entregado en manos de los hombres.

23 A nd they will kill Him, and He will be raised again on the third day. And they were deeply and exceedingly grieved and distressed.

Y le matarán, y al tercer día resucitará. Y ellos se entristecieron mucho. Pago del impuesto del templo

24 W hen they arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the half shekel went up to Peter and said, Does not your Teacher pay the half shekel?

Cuando llegaron a Capernaúm, se acercaron a Pedro los que cobraban el impuesto de dos dracmas y dijeron: ¿No paga vuestro maestro las dos dracmas ?

25 H e answered, Yes. And when he came home, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, What do you think, Simon? From whom do earthly rulers collect duties or tribute—from their own sons or from others not of their own family?

El dijo: Sí. Y cuando él llegó a casa, Jesús se le anticipó, diciendo: ¿Qué te parece, Simón? ¿De quiénes cobran tributos o impuestos los reyes de la tierra, de sus hijos o de los extraños?

26 A nd when Peter said, From other people not of their own family, Jesus said to him, Then the sons are exempt.

Y cuando respondió: De los extraños, Jesús le dijo: Entonces los hijos están exentos.

27 H owever, in order not to give offense and cause them to stumble '> to judge unfavorably and unjustly] go down to the sea and throw in a hook. Take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find there a shekel. Take it and give it to them to pay the temple tax for Me and for yourself.

Sin embargo, para que no los escandalicemos, ve al mar, echa el anzuelo, y toma el primer pez que salga; y cuando le abras la boca hallarás un estáter; tómalo y dáselo por ti y por mí.
