1 A ll the congregation of the Israelites moved on from the Wilderness of Sin by stages, according to the commandment of the Lord, and encamped at Rephidim; but there was no water for the people to drink.

Toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel marchó por jornadas desde el desierto de Sin, conforme al mandamiento del Señor; y acamparon en Refidim, y no había agua para que el pueblo bebiera.

2 T herefore, the people contended with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said to them, Why do you find fault with me? Why do you tempt the Lord and try His patience?

Entonces el pueblo contendió con Moisés, y dijeron: Danos agua para beber. Y Moisés les dijo: ¿Por qué contendéis conmigo? ¿Por qué tentáis al Señor ?

3 B ut the people thirsted there for water, and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to kill us and our children and livestock with thirst?

Pero el pueblo tuvo allí sed, y murmuró el pueblo contra Moisés, y dijo: ¿Por qué nos has hecho subir de Egipto para matarnos de sed a nosotros, a nuestros hijos y a nuestros ganados ?

4 S o Moses cried to the Lord, What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me.

Y clamó Moisés al Señor, diciendo: ¿Qué haré con este pueblo? Un poco más y me apedrearán.

5 A nd the Lord said to Moses, Pass on before the people, and take with you some of the elders of Israel; and take in your hand the rod with which you smote the river, and go.

Y el Señor dijo a Moisés: Pasa delante del pueblo y toma contigo a algunos de los ancianos de Israel, y toma en tu mano la vara con la cual golpeaste el Nilo, y ve.

6 B ehold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water shall come out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

He aquí, yo estaré allí delante de ti sobre la peña en Horeb; y golpearás la peña, y saldrá agua de ella para que beba el pueblo. Y así lo hizo Moisés en presencia de los ancianos de Israel.

7 H e called the place Massah and Meribah because of the faultfinding of the Israelites and because they tempted and tried the patience of the Lord, saying, Is the Lord among us or not?

Y puso a aquel lugar el nombre de Masah y Meriba, por la contienda de los hijos de Israel, y porque tentaron al Señor, diciendo: ¿Está el Señor entre nosotros o no? Guerra con Amalec

8 T hen came Amalek and fought with Israel at Rephidim.

Entonces vino Amalec y peleó contra Israel en Refidim.

9 A nd Moses said to Joshua, Choose us out men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.

Y Moisés dijo a Josué: Escógenos hombres, y sal a pelear contra Amalec. Mañana yo estaré sobre la cumbre del collado con la vara de Dios en mi mano.

10 S o Joshua did as Moses said and fought with Amalek; and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the hilltop.

Y Josué hizo como Moisés le dijo, y peleó contra Amalec; y Moisés, Aarón y Hur subieron a la cumbre del collado.

11 W hen Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed; and when he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed.

Y sucedió que mientras Moisés tenía en alto su mano, Israel prevalecía; y cuando dejaba caer la mano, prevalecía Amalec.

12 B ut Moses’ hands were heavy and grew weary. So took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and one on the other side; so his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

Pero las manos de Moisés se le cansaban. Entonces tomaron una piedra y la pusieron debajo de él, y se sentó en ella; y Aarón y Hur le sostenían las manos, uno de un lado y otro del otro. Así estuvieron sus manos firmes hasta que se puso el sol.

13 A nd Joshua mowed down and disabled Amalek and his people with the sword.

Y Josué deshizo a Amalec y a su pueblo a filo de espada.

14 A nd the Lord said to Moses, Write this for a memorial in the book and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under the heavens.

Entonces dijo el Señor a Moisés: Escribe esto en un libro para que sirva de memorial, y haz saber a Josué que yo borraré por completo la memoria de Amalec de debajo del cielo.

15 A nd Moses built an altar and called the name of it, The Lord is my Banner;

Y edificó Moisés un altar, y le puso por nombre El Señor es mi Estandarte,

16 A nd he said, Because is a hand against the throne of the Lord, the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.

y dijo: El Señor lo ha jurado; el Señor hará guerra contra Amalec de generación en generación.
