1 M y son, forget not my law or teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments;

Hijo mío, no te olvides de mi enseñanza, y tu corazón guarde mis mandamientos,

2 F or length of days and years of a life and tranquility, these shall they add to you.

porque largura de días y años de vida y paz te añadirán.

3 L et not mercy and kindness and truth forsake you; bind them about your neck, write them upon the tablet of your heart.

La misericordia y la verdad nunca se aparten de ti; átalas a tu cuello, escríbelas en la tabla de tu corazón.

4 S o shall you find favor, good understanding, and high esteem in the sight of God and man.

Así hallarás favor y buena estimación ante los ojos de Dios y de los hombres.

5 L ean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

Confía en el Señor con todo tu corazón, y no te apoyes en tu propio entendimiento.

6 I n all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.

Reconócele en todos tus caminos, y El enderezará tus sendas.

7 B e not wise in your own eyes; reverently fear and worship the Lord and turn away from evil.

No seas sabio a tus propios ojos, teme al Señor y apártate del mal.

8 I t shall be health to your nerves and sinews, and marrow and moistening to your bones.

Será medicina para tu cuerpo y refrigerio para tus huesos.

9 H onor the Lord with your capital and sufficiency and with the firstfruits of all your income;

Honra al Señor con tus bienes y con las primicias de todos tus frutos;

10 S o shall your storage places be filled with plenty, and your vats shall be overflowing with new wine.

entonces tus graneros se llenarán con abundancia y tus lagares rebosarán de mosto.

11 M y son, do not despise or shrink from the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of or impatient about or loathe or abhor His reproof,

Hijo mío, no rechaces la disciplina del Señor ni aborrezcas su reprensión,

12 F or whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

porque el Señor a quien ama reprende, como un padre al hijo en quien se deleita. Beneficios de la sabiduría

13 H appy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is the man who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding,

Bienaventurado el hombre que halla sabiduría y el hombre que adquiere entendimiento;

14 F or the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, and the profit of it better than fine gold.

porque su ganancia es mejor que la ganancia de la plata, y sus utilidades mejor que el oro fino.

15 S killful and godly Wisdom is more precious than rubies; and nothing you can wish for is to be compared to her.

Es más preciosa que las joyas, y nada de lo que deseas se compara con ella.

16 L ength of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand are riches and honor.

Larga vida hay en su mano derecha, en su mano izquierda, riquezas y honra.

17 H er ways are highways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

Sus caminos son caminos agradables y todas sus sendas, paz.

18 S he is a tree of life to those who lay hold on her; and happy (blessed, fortunate, to be envied) is everyone who holds her fast.

Es árbol de vida para los que de ella echan mano, y felices son los que la abrazan.

19 T he Lord by skillful and godly Wisdom has founded the earth; by understanding He has established the heavens.

Con sabiduría fundó el Señor la tierra, con inteligencia estableció los cielos.

20 B y His knowledge the deeps were broken up, and the skies distill the dew.

Con su conocimiento los abismos fueron divididos y los cielos destilan rocío.

21 M y son, let them not escape from your sight, but keep sound and godly Wisdom and discretion,

Hijo mío, no se aparten estas cosas de tus ojos, guarda la prudencia y la discreción,

22 A nd they will be life to your inner self, and a gracious ornament to your neck (your outer self).

y serán vida para tu alma, y adorno para tu cuello.

23 T hen you will walk in your way securely and in confident trust, and you shall not dash your foot or stumble.

Entonces andarás con seguridad por tu camino, y no tropezará tu pie.

24 W hen you lie down, you shall not be afraid; yes, you shall lie down, and your sleep shall be sweet.

Cuando te acuestes no tendrás temor, sí, te acostarás y será dulce tu sueño.

25 B e not afraid of sudden terror and panic, nor of the stormy blast or the storm and ruin of the wicked when it comes,

No temerás el pavor repentino, ni el ataque de los impíos cuando venga,

26 F or the Lord shall be your confidence, firm and strong, and shall keep your foot from being caught.

porque el Señor será tu confianza, y guardará tu pie de ser apresado.

27 W ithhold not good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it.

No niegues el bien a quien se le debe, cuando esté en tu mano el hacer lo.

28 D o not say to your neighbor, Go, and come again; and tomorrow I will give it—when you have it with you.

No digas a tu prójimo: Ve y vuelve, y mañana te lo daré, cuando lo tienes contigo.

29 D o not contrive or dig up or cultivate evil against your neighbor, who dwells trustingly and confidently beside you.

No trames el mal contra tu prójimo, mientras habite seguro a tu lado.

30 C ontend not with a man for no reason—when he has done you no wrong.

No contiendas con nadie sin motivo, si no te ha hecho daño.

31 D o not resentfully envy and be jealous of an unscrupulous, grasping man, and choose none of his ways.

No envidies al hombre violento, y no escojas ninguno de sus caminos;

32 F or the perverse are an abomination to the Lord; but His confidential communion and secret counsel are with the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with Him).

porque el hombre perverso es abominación para el Señor; pero El es amigo íntimo de los rectos.

33 T he curse of the Lord is in and on the house of the wicked, but He declares blessed (joyful and favored with blessings) the home of the just and consistently righteous.

La maldición del Señor está sobre la casa del impío, pero El bendice la morada del justo.

34 T hough He scoffs at the scoffers and scorns the scorners, yet He gives His undeserved favor to the low, the humble, and the afflicted.

Ciertamente El se burla de los burladores, pero da gracia a los afligidos.

35 T he wise shall inherit glory (all honor and good) but shame is the highest rank conferred on fools.

El sabio heredará honra, pero los necios hacen resaltar su deshonra.
