1 M y son, forget not my law or teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments;

我 兒 ， 不 要 忘 記 我 的 法 則 （ 或 譯 ： 指 教 ） ； 你 心 要 謹 守 我 的 誡 命 ；

2 F or length of days and years of a life and tranquility, these shall they add to you.

因 為 他 必 將 長 久 的 日 子 ， 生 命 的 年 數 與 平 安 ， 加 給 你 。

3 L et not mercy and kindness and truth forsake you; bind them about your neck, write them upon the tablet of your heart.

不 可 使 慈 愛 、 誠 實 離 開 你 ， 要 繫 在 你 頸 項 上 ， 刻 在 你 心 版 上 。

4 S o shall you find favor, good understanding, and high esteem in the sight of God and man.

這 樣 ， 你 必 在 神 和 世 人 眼 前 蒙 恩 寵 ， 有 聰 明 。

5 L ean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

你 要 專 心 仰 賴 耶 和 華 ， 不 可 倚 靠 自 己 的 聰 明 ，

6 I n all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.

在 你 一 切 所 行 的 事 上 都 要 認 定 他 ， 他 必 指 引 你 的 路 。

7 B e not wise in your own eyes; reverently fear and worship the Lord and turn away from evil.

不 要 自 以 為 有 智 慧 ； 要 敬 畏 耶 和 華 ， 遠 離 惡 事 。

8 I t shall be health to your nerves and sinews, and marrow and moistening to your bones.

這 便 醫 治 你 的 肚 臍 ， 滋 潤 你 的 百 骨 。

9 H onor the Lord with your capital and sufficiency and with the firstfruits of all your income;

你 要 以 財 物 和 一 切 初 熟 的 土 產 尊 榮 耶 和 華 。

10 S o shall your storage places be filled with plenty, and your vats shall be overflowing with new wine.

這 樣 ， 你 的 倉 房 必 充 滿 有 餘 ； 你 的 酒 醡 有 新 酒 盈 溢 。

11 M y son, do not despise or shrink from the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of or impatient about or loathe or abhor His reproof,

我 兒 ， 你 不 可 輕 看 耶 和 華 的 管 教 （ 或 譯 ： 懲 治 ） ， 也 不 可 厭 煩 他 的 責 備 ；

12 F or whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

因 為 耶 和 華 所 愛 的 ， 他 必 責 備 ， 正 如 父 親 責 備 所 喜 愛 的 兒 子 。

13 H appy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is the man who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding,

得 智 慧 ， 得 聰 明 的 ， 這 人 便 為 有 福 。

14 F or the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, and the profit of it better than fine gold.

因 為 得 智 慧 勝 過 得 銀 子 ， 其 利 益 強 如 精 金 ，

15 S killful and godly Wisdom is more precious than rubies; and nothing you can wish for is to be compared to her.

比 珍 珠 （ 或 譯 ： 紅 寶 石 ） 寶 貴 ； 你 一 切 所 喜 愛 的 ， 都 不 足 與 比 較 。

16 L ength of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand are riches and honor.

他 右 手 有 長 壽 ， 左 手 有 富 貴 。

17 H er ways are highways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

他 的 道 是 安 樂 ； 他 的 路 全 是 平 安 。

18 S he is a tree of life to those who lay hold on her; and happy (blessed, fortunate, to be envied) is everyone who holds her fast.

他 與 持 守 他 的 作 生 命 樹 ； 持 定 他 的 ， 俱 各 有 福 。

19 T he Lord by skillful and godly Wisdom has founded the earth; by understanding He has established the heavens.

耶 和 華 以 智 慧 立 地 ， 以 聰 明 定 天 ，

20 B y His knowledge the deeps were broken up, and the skies distill the dew.

以 知 識 使 深 淵 裂 開 ， 使 天 空 滴 下 甘 露 。

21 M y son, let them not escape from your sight, but keep sound and godly Wisdom and discretion,

我 兒 ， 要 謹 守 真 智 慧 和 謀 略 ， 不 可 使 他 離 開 你 的 眼 目 。

22 A nd they will be life to your inner self, and a gracious ornament to your neck (your outer self).

這 樣 ， 他 必 作 你 的 生 命 ， 頸 項 的 美 飾 。

23 T hen you will walk in your way securely and in confident trust, and you shall not dash your foot or stumble.

你 就 坦 然 行 路 ， 不 致 碰 腳 。

24 W hen you lie down, you shall not be afraid; yes, you shall lie down, and your sleep shall be sweet.

你 躺 下 ， 必 不 懼 怕 ； 你 躺 臥 ， 睡 得 香 甜 。

25 B e not afraid of sudden terror and panic, nor of the stormy blast or the storm and ruin of the wicked when it comes,

忽 然 來 的 驚 恐 ， 不 要 害 怕 ； 惡 人 遭 毀 滅 ， 也 不 要 恐 懼 。

26 F or the Lord shall be your confidence, firm and strong, and shall keep your foot from being caught.

因 為 耶 和 華 是 你 所 倚 靠 的 ； 他 必 保 守 你 的 腳 不 陷 入 網 羅 。

27 W ithhold not good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it.

你 手 若 有 行 善 的 力 量 ， 不 可 推 辭 ， 就 當 向 那 應 得 的 人 施 行 。

28 D o not say to your neighbor, Go, and come again; and tomorrow I will give it—when you have it with you.

你 那 裡 若 有 現 成 的 ， 不 可 對 鄰 舍 說 ： 去 罷 ， 明 天 再 來 ， 我 必 給 你 。

29 D o not contrive or dig up or cultivate evil against your neighbor, who dwells trustingly and confidently beside you.

你 的 鄰 舍 既 在 你 附 近 安 居 ， 你 不 可 設 計 害 他 。

30 C ontend not with a man for no reason—when he has done you no wrong.

人 未 曾 加 害 與 你 ， 不 可 無 故 與 他 相 爭 。

31 D o not resentfully envy and be jealous of an unscrupulous, grasping man, and choose none of his ways.

不 可 嫉 妒 強 暴 的 人 ， 也 不 可 選 擇 他 所 行 的 路 。

32 F or the perverse are an abomination to the Lord; but His confidential communion and secret counsel are with the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with Him).

因 為 ， 乖 僻 人 為 耶 和 華 所 憎 惡 ； 正 直 人 為 他 所 親 密 。

33 T he curse of the Lord is in and on the house of the wicked, but He declares blessed (joyful and favored with blessings) the home of the just and consistently righteous.

耶 和 華 咒 詛 惡 人 的 家 庭 ， 賜 福 與 義 人 的 居 所 。

34 T hough He scoffs at the scoffers and scorns the scorners, yet He gives His undeserved favor to the low, the humble, and the afflicted.

他 譏 誚 那 好 譏 誚 的 人 ， 賜 恩 給 謙 卑 的 人 。

35 T he wise shall inherit glory (all honor and good) but shame is the highest rank conferred on fools.

智 慧 人 必 承 受 尊 榮 ； 愚 昧 人 高 升 也 成 為 羞 辱 。
