1 W isdom has built her house; she has hewn out and set up her seven pillars.

智 慧 建 造 房 屋 ， 鑿 成 七 根 柱 子 ，

2 S he has killed her beasts, she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table.

宰 殺 牲 畜 ， 調 和 旨 酒 ， 設 擺 筵 席 ；

3 S he has sent out her maids to cry from the highest places of the town:

打 發 使 女 出 去 ， 自 己 在 城 中 至 高 處 呼 叫 ，

4 W hoever is simple (easily led astray and wavering), let him turn in here! As for him who lacks understanding, Wisdom says to him,

說 ： 誰 是 愚 蒙 人 ， 可 以 轉 到 這 裡 來 ！ 又 對 那 無 知 的 人 說 ：

5 C ome, eat of my bread and drink of the wine which I have mixed.

你 們 來 ， 吃 我 的 餅 ， 喝 我 調 和 的 酒 。

6 L eave off, simple ones and live! And walk in the way of insight and understanding.

你 們 愚 蒙 人 ， 要 捨 棄 愚 蒙 ， 就 得 存 活 ， 並 要 走 光 明 的 道 。

7 H e who rebukes a scorner heaps upon himself abuse, and he who reproves a wicked man gets for himself bruises.

指 斥 褻 慢 人 的 ， 必 受 辱 罵 ； 責 備 惡 人 的 ， 必 被 玷 污 。

8 R eprove not a scorner, lest he hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you.

不 要 責 備 褻 慢 人 ， 恐 怕 他 恨 你 ； 要 責 備 智 慧 人 ， 他 必 愛 你 。

9 G ive instruction to a wise man and he will be yet wiser; teach a righteous man (one upright and in right standing with God) and he will increase in learning.

教 導 智 慧 人 ， 他 就 越 發 有 智 慧 ； 指 示 義 人 ， 他 就 增 長 學 問 。

10 T he reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning (the chief and choice part) of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding.

敬 畏 耶 和 華 是 智 慧 的 開 端 ； 認 識 至 聖 者 便 是 聰 明 。

11 F or by me your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased.

你 藉 著 我 ， 日 子 必 增 多 ， 年 歲 也 必 加 添 。

12 I f you are wise, you are wise for yourself; if you scorn, you alone will bear it and pay the penalty.

你 若 有 智 慧 ， 是 與 自 己 有 益 ； 你 若 褻 慢 ， 就 必 獨 自 擔 當 。

13 T he foolish woman is noisy; she is simple and open to all forms of evil, she knows nothing whatever.

愚 昧 的 婦 人 喧 嚷 ； 他 是 愚 蒙 ， 一 無 所 知 。

14 F or she sits at the door of her house or on a seat in the conspicuous places of the town,

他 坐 在 自 己 的 家 門 口 ， 坐 在 城 中 高 處 的 座 位 上 ，

15 C alling to those who pass by, who go uprightly on their way:

呼 叫 過 路 的 ， 就 是 直 行 其 道 的 人 ，

16 W hoever is simple (wavering and easily led astray), let him turn in here! And as for him who lacks understanding, she says to him,

說 ： 誰 是 愚 蒙 人 ， 可 以 轉 到 這 裡 來 ！ 又 對 那 無 知 的 人 說 ：

17 S tolen waters (pleasures) are sweet; and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

偷 來 的 水 是 甜 的 ， 暗 吃 的 餅 是 好 的 。

18 B ut he knows not that the shades of the dead are there, and that her invited guests are in the depths of Sheol (the lower world, Hades, the place of the dead).

人 卻 不 知 有 陰 魂 在 他 那 裡 ； 他 的 客 在 陰 間 的 深 處 。
