1 A fter the death of Joshua, the Israelites asked the Lord, Who shall go up first for us against the Canaanites to fight against them?

約 書 亞 死 後 ， 以 色 列 人 求 問 耶 和 華 說 ： 我 們 中 間 誰 當 首 先 上 去 攻 擊 迦 南 人 ， 與 他 們 爭 戰 ？

2 A nd the Lord said, Judah shall go up; behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.

耶 和 華 說 ： 猶 大 當 先 上 去 ， 我 已 將 那 地 交 在 他 手 中 。

3 A nd Judah said to Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my allotted territory, so that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with you into your territory. So Simeon went with him.

猶 大 對 他 哥 哥 西 緬 說 ： 請 你 同 我 到 拈 鬮 所 得 之 地 去 ， 好 與 迦 南 人 爭 戰 ； 以 後 我 也 同 你 到 你 拈 鬮 所 得 之 地 去 。 於 是 西 緬 與 他 同 去 。

4 T hen Judah went up and the Lord delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand, and they smote 10, 000 of them in Bezek.

猶 大 就 上 去 ； 耶 和 華 將 迦 南 人 和 比 利 洗 人 交 在 他 們 手 中 。 他 們 在 比 色 擊 殺 了 一 萬 人 ，

5 A nd they found Adoni-bezek in Bezek and fought against him, and they smote the Canaanites and the Perizzites.

又 在 那 裡 遇 見 亞 多 尼 比 色 ， 與 他 爭 戰 ， 殺 敗 迦 南 人 和 比 利 洗 人 。

6 A doni-bezek fled, but they pursued him and caught him and cut off his thumbs and his big toes.

亞 多 尼 比 色 逃 跑 ； 他 們 追 趕 ， 拿 住 他 ， 砍 斷 他 手 腳 的 大 姆 指 。

7 A doni-bezek said, Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off had to gather their food under my table. As I have done, so God has repaid me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.

亞 多 尼 比 色 說 ： 從 前 有 七 十 個 王 ， 手 腳 的 大 姆 指 都 被 我 砍 斷 ， 在 我 桌 子 底 下 拾 取 零 碎 食 物 。 現 在 神 按 著 我 所 行 的 報 應 我 了 。 於 是 他 們 將 亞 多 尼 比 色 帶 到 耶 路 撒 冷 ， 他 就 死 在 那 裡 。

8 A nd the men of Judah fought against Jerusalem and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword and set the city on fire.

猶 大 人 攻 打 耶 路 撒 冷 ， 將 城 攻 取 ， 用 刀 殺 了 城 內 的 人 ， 並 且 放 火 燒 城 。

9 A fterward the men of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites who dwelt in the hill country, in the South (the Negeb), and in the lowland.

後 來 猶 大 人 下 去 ， 與 住 山 地 、 南 地 ， 和 高 原 的 迦 南 人 爭 戰 。

10 A nd Judah went against the Canaanites who dwelt in Hebron. The name of Hebron before was Kiriath-arba. And they defeated Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai.

猶 大 人 去 攻 擊 住 希 伯 崙 的 迦 南 人 ， 殺 了 示 篩 、 亞 希 幔 、 撻 買 。 希 伯 崙 從 前 名 叫 基 列 亞 巴 。

11 F rom there went against the inhabitants of Debir. The name of Debir before was Kiriath-sepher.

他 們 從 那 裡 去 攻 擊 底 壁 的 居 民 ； 底 壁 從 前 名 叫 基 列 西 弗 。

12 A nd Caleb said, Whoever attacks Kiriath-sepher and takes it, to him will I give Achsah, my daughter, as wife.

迦 勒 說 ： 誰 能 攻 打 基 列 西 弗 ， 將 城 奪 取 ， 我 就 把 我 女 兒 押 撒 給 他 為 妻 。

13 A nd Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, took it; and he gave him Achsah, his daughter, as wife.

迦 勒 兄 弟 基 納 斯 的 兒 子 俄 陀 聶 奪 取 了 那 城 ， 迦 勒 就 把 女 兒 押 撒 給 他 為 妻 。

14 A nd when she came to, she got his consent to ask her father for a field. And she alighted off her donkey, and Caleb said to her, What do you want?

押 撒 過 門 的 時 候 ， 勸 丈 夫 向 他 父 親 求 一 塊 田 。 押 撒 一 下 驢 ， 迦 勒 問 他 說 ： 你 要 甚 麼 ？

15 A nd she said to him, Give me a present; since you have set me in the land of the South (the Negeb), give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.

他 說 ： 求 你 賜 福 給 我 ， 你 既 將 我 安 置 在 南 地 ， 求 你 也 給 我 水 泉 。 迦 勒 就 把 上 泉 下 泉 賜 給 他 。

16 A nd the descendants of the Kenite, Moses’ father-in-law, went up with the Judahites from the City of Palms (Jericho) into the Wilderness of Judah, which lies in the South (the Negeb) near Arad; and they went and dwelt with the people.

摩 西 的 內 兄 （ 或 譯 ： 岳 父 ） 是 基 尼 人 ， 他 的 子 孫 與 猶 大 人 一 同 離 了 棕 樹 城 ， 往 亞 拉 得 以 南 的 猶 大 曠 野 去 ， 就 住 在 民 中 。

17 A nd Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites who inhabited Zephath and utterly destroyed it. So the city was called Hormah.

猶 大 和 他 哥 哥 西 緬 同 去 ， 擊 殺 了 住 洗 法 的 迦 南 人 ， 將 城 盡 行 毀 滅 ， 那 城 的 名 便 叫 何 珥 瑪 。

18 A lso Judah took Gaza, Askelon, and Ekron—each with its territory.

猶 大 又 取 了 迦 薩 和 迦 薩 的 四 境 ， 亞 實 基 倫 和 亞 實 基 倫 的 四 境 ， 以 革 倫 和 以 革 倫 的 四 境 。

19 T he Lord was with Judah, and drove out the inhabitants of the hill country, but he could not drive out those inhabiting the valley basin because they had chariots of iron.

耶 和 華 與 猶 大 同 在 ， 猶 大 就 趕 出 山 地 的 居 民 ， 只 是 不 能 趕 出 平 原 的 居 民 ， 因 為 他 們 有 鐵 車 。

20 H ebron was given to Caleb as Moses said, and he expelled from there the three sons of Anak.

以 色 列 人 照 摩 西 所 說 的 ， 將 希 伯 崙 給 了 迦 勒 ； 迦 勒 就 從 那 裡 趕 出 亞 衲 族 的 三 個 族 長 。

21 B ut the Benjamites did not drive out the Jebusites who inhabited Jerusalem; the Jebusites dwell with the Benjamites in Jerusalem to this day.

便 雅 憫 人 沒 有 趕 出 住 耶 路 撒 冷 的 耶 布 斯 人 。 耶 布 斯 人 仍 在 耶 路 撒 冷 與 便 雅 憫 人 同 住 ， 直 到 今 日 。

22 T he house of Joseph also went up against Bethel, and the Lord was with them.

約 瑟 家 也 上 去 攻 打 伯 特 利 ； 耶 和 華 與 他 們 同 在 。

23 A nd the house of Joseph was sent to spy out Bethel. The name of the city formerly had been Luz.

約 瑟 家 打 發 人 去 窺 探 伯 特 利 （ 那 城 起 先 名 叫 路 斯 ） 。

24 A nd the spies saw a man coming out of the city and they said to him, Show us, we pray you, the way into the city and we will show you mercy.

窺 探 的 人 看 見 一 個 人 從 城 裡 出 來 ， 就 對 他 說 ： 求 你 將 進 城 的 路 指 示 我 們 ， 我 們 必 恩 待 你 。

25 W hen he showed them the entrance to the city, they smote the city with the sword, but they let the man and all his family go.

那 人 將 進 城 的 路 指 示 他 們 ， 他 們 就 用 刀 擊 殺 了 城 中 的 居 民 ， 但 將 那 人 和 他 全 家 放 去 。

26 A nd the man went into the land of the Hittites and built a city and called it Luz, which is its name to this day.

那 人 往 赫 人 之 地 去 ， 築 了 一 座 城 ， 起 名 叫 路 斯 。 那 城 到 如 今 還 叫 這 名 。

27 N either did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shean and its villages, or of Taanach or Dor or Ibleam or Megiddo and their villages, but the Canaanites remained in that land.

瑪 拿 西 沒 有 趕 出 伯 善 和 屬 伯 善 鄉 村 的 居 民 ， 他 納 和 屬 他 納 鄉 村 的 居 民 ， 多 珥 和 屬 多 珥 鄉 村 的 居 民 ， 以 伯 蓮 和 屬 以 伯 蓮 鄉 村 的 居 民 ， 米 吉 多 和 屬 米 吉 多 鄉 村 的 居 民 ； 迦 南 人 卻 執 意 住 在 那 些 地 方 。

28 W hen Israel became strong, they put the Canaanites to forced labor but did not utterly drive them out.

及 至 以 色 列 強 盛 了 ， 就 使 迦 南 人 作 苦 工 ， 沒 有 把 他 們 全 然 趕 出 。

29 N either did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites who dwelt in Gezer, but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.

以 法 蓮 沒 有 趕 出 住 基 色 的 迦 南 人 。 於 是 迦 南 人 仍 住 在 基 色 ， 在 以 法 蓮 中 間 。

30 N either did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron or of Nahalol, but the Canaanites dwelt among them and were put to forced labor.

西 布 倫 沒 有 趕 出 基 倫 的 居 民 和 拿 哈 拉 的 居 民 。 於 是 迦 南 人 仍 住 在 西 布 倫 中 間 ， 成 了 服 苦 的 人 。

31 N either did Asher drive out the inhabitants of Acco or of Sidon or of Ahlab or of Achzib or of Helbah or of Aphik or of Rehob;

亞 設 沒 有 趕 出 亞 柯 和 西 頓 的 居 民 ， 亞 黑 拉 和 亞 革 悉 的 居 民 ， 黑 巴 、 亞 弗 革 與 利 合 的 居 民 。

32 B ut the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land, for they did not drive them out.

於 是 ， 亞 設 因 為 沒 有 趕 出 那 地 的 迦 南 人 ， 就 住 在 他 們 中 間 。

33 N either did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh or of Beth-anath, but dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land; but the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and of Beth-anath became subject to forced labor for them.

拿 弗 他 利 沒 有 趕 出 伯 示 麥 和 伯 亞 納 的 居 民 ， 於 是 拿 弗 他 利 就 住 在 那 地 的 迦 南 人 中 間 ； 然 而 伯 示 麥 和 伯 亞 納 的 居 民 成 了 服 苦 的 人 。

34 T he Amorites forced the Danites back into the hill country, for they would not allow them to come down into the plain;

亞 摩 利 人 強 逼 但 人 住 在 山 地 ， 不 容 他 們 下 到 平 原 ；

35 T he Amorites remained fixed in Mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim; yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became subject to forced labor.

亞 摩 利 人 卻 執 意 住 在 希 烈 山 和 亞 雅 倫 並 沙 賓 。 然 而 約 瑟 家 勝 了 他 們 ， 使 他 們 成 了 服 苦 的 人 。

36 A nd the border of the Amorites was from the ascent of Akrabbim, from the rock Sela and onward.

亞 摩 利 人 的 境 界 ， 是 從 亞 克 拉 濱 坡 ， 從 西 拉 而 上 。
